Hangover

“Morning, Ms. Tsuki. I take it your head hurts a bit?” I squint in the direction of the voice and see Miles and nod. “I should’ve stuck to white wine, red wine always kills me. That’s what I get for leaving Alex to the decision making.” I say, the regret filling my pounding head. “I left some aspirin and water there for you.” she points to the table beside me. “I have to head to the barracks, you gonna be alright?” “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Thank you, Miles.” I say with a smile. She nods, and walks out of the room. I quickly drink the water and take the medicine left behind for me. I cannot start this mess of a day with a wine hangover. I hear Miles leave the house and flop back down on her mattress. Why doesn’t she live in the pack house? I derail my train of thought and get dressed. Staying in someone else’s house has always been strange, but for some reason I feel comfortable here. I lock her door from the inside and shoot her a text to let her know. “Locked your door on my way out, thanks for letting me stay over, sorry for being wine drunk, x” I forgot she lives outside of town. Either I have a long walk ahead of me, or Miya has a short drive. I’m going with Miya. “Hey Mi, sending my location. Come pick me up? X” I start walking when I hear my phone buzz. “New message from Miles Bellator: Thanks for locking up :) you’re welcome to stay over whenever, Tsuki.” I smile and keep walking until Miya agrees to pick me up. “So why exactly did you stay over..?” she asks. “I had a rough night, she called to make sure I was okay, and I drunkenly decided to make it a girls night.” “Mm-hm. And why was I not invited?” she teases. “Shush and drive. I have to meet Alex to discuss more mate things. Speaking of….” “Yeah still nothing..” she shuts down the idea of it so quickly… is she hiding something? “You answered rather quickly, Mi.” She looks across the roads for a reason for her behavior. I take her silence as an answer and we ride the rest of the way in an uncomfortable silence until she breaks it. “So how was your impromptu girls night?” My cheeks go red. I start stammering. “I uh-- it was fun! I mean we just chatted and she let me sleep in her bed.” “You slept with her?!” “NO! Gods, Mi. She slept on the couch.” “Oh gods, I really thought you cheated on your mate in the first night.” Shit did I? I mean does kissing girls count? I feel like it might. No, we agreed. It doesn’t count. Miya looks at me. “Why are you being so quiet? “Why aren’t you looking at the road?” “Hun...we’re here.” I look out the window to find we are indeed home. I feel my cheeks flush a bit. Miya laughs “You’re definitely hungover.” __________________________________________ “So any reason you decided to walk off on your own instead of coming home with me last night?” Alex asks. “I mean, you’re not entitled to my company, Alex. Besides, you pissed me off.” I scoff. “Gods, Kelsi was easier to be with than you.” Excuse me? Immediately, I look at him, expecting an enormous apology. Instead I get a dumb look. “You’re kidding me, right?” He, obviously, was not. “I went all the way to that restaurant last night to announce our love to your family, on time nonetheless, and I had to sit there with a group of wolves who barely know me. I had to sit there with the alpha of the pack, the father of my lover, and not tell them? You would have handled that situation differently?” I’m taken aback. “Yeah, I would have respected my mates wishes.” I get up and walk out, suddenly getting an instant replay of last night. Why not keep it up? I head towards the training grounds, today sounds like the perfect day to start training with Miles. Eventually I arrive, after walking about 30 minutes, and see Miles sparring with one of our younger guards. “Hey, Miles!” I shout. I expected her to be caught off guard, but she doesn’t miss a beat in the fight. She manages to flip him on his back, and then helps him to his feet. “Well done, Chase!” she exclaims, and turns in my direction. “Ms. Tsuki, to what do I owe the pleasure?” “He pissed me off, I walked out, I decided to repeat last night without the wine.” I shrug. She laughs and walks over. The closer she gets the stronger her scent is. How is it she can be so sweaty and still smell so wonderful? She pulls me into a tight one armed hug, it makes me feel like an absolute bro and I love it. “Alright boys, keep sparring until 6PM. That’s 5 hours. If you stop before then I will know, and there will be hell to pay. I’m leaving for the day. If there’s an emergency come find me.” she turns to me. “How about this time we both get wine drunk. Say, white wine?” she smirks. “Hey, you’re not legal.” “I won’t say anything if you won’t.” she says and nudges my shoulder with a wink. I give in and we walk to her truck. “You really left early to hang out with me?” I ask. “Of course! You’re way more fun than a bunch of hormonal wolves. Do you even know how many of them are unmated? They go nuts when I spar with them, it’s f*****g annoying.” I can’t help but laugh. “They go extra nuts when you come around, no idea why. Normally they only act like that with unmated she-wolves.” Weird. “Anyways, where do you want to hang out tonight?” she asks. “My place or yours?” “Well, Alex knows where one of those two places is so...yours.” I say. “And let's go to one of the human cities for the wine.” I seriously want nothing to do with him tonight. ✨🌙☀️✨
