The Nightmare Shift

Chapter #3.The Turning. Part 1.

Ash then looks over at Zeke and says “Find out whatever you need to do to get your door opened.It will appear when you have completed your last task in what you need to do to be reborn again”

Nina’s phone suddenly starts ringing, as she grabs her phone from out of her pocket and answers the phone, and says “Hi Jay what’s wrong?”

As Nina steps into the hallway and Jay says “Hi Mom just to let you know we ordered the pizza.

But when it arrived the pizza was gone. There was only a little bit of cheese, and pepperoni it’s very odd.

So I decided to make something for me and Rose, so how is your new job going, is everything okay?”

As Nina says “Yeah it’s going fine and I met some of the doctors, and nurses here and the patients are all wonderful.

I will see you when I get home and remember to lock both doors, the back, and the front to make sure that nobody tries to break in okay.

Send my love to you and your sister I have to get back to work see you later bye”

Nina hangs up her phone and puts it back in her pocket, and heads back into the operating room.

Ash then says “Good lying you can’t put your kids in harm’s way, and they can’t know what you are.

I will do my best on protecting you and your family”

Ash then looks over at Zeke and says “Hey Zeke, how would you like to help watchover Nina’s kids?I will grant you access to go into her house, but if you try to hurt them in any way I will make sure you end up back on that table strapped back down”

Zeke nods his head and stays silent.

After a while passes by, Nina’s shift ends around 12:00 at night, as she walks all the way up to the front, and walks out the front doors, and gets in her car with Zeke, and drives back home.

*5 minutes later*

She pulls into the driveway and parks her car, and walks up to the front door, unlocks it and walks inside, as Zeke follows behind Nina, as she turns around and locks the front door again.

She then goes to the counter and places her lunch bag on the kitchen counter, and sees Jay fast asleep on the couch, as Nina heads upstairs to her room and falls asleep, as Nina says drifting off to sleep. “Please keep an eye on my kids”

*After a couple hours go by, and the sunsets*

Nina wakes up and changes her clothes, so she can wash her work clothes, as she then heads downstairs to the main floor, as Nina says “Good morning Jay, thank you for waiting for me to get home, but you do know that you don’t have to wait for me to get home you need sleep to”

Jay then says “Mom what happened to your neck?Why are there bandages with blood on it?”

Nina then says “Oh I just scratched my neck too hard again, and I went a bit too deep, but I will be fine now I have to make you and your sisters lunch”As Nina walks into the kitchen and prepares Jay’s and Rose’s lunches.

After a few minutes went by, the lunches were made and Nina handed them both their lunches, and backpacks and walked out the door to catch the bus.

As Nina starts looking for Zeke, she says “Zeke, where are you?”

Zeke suddenly appears in front of Nina as Zeke looks around, and says “How did you do that?I was sleeping in the basement, it’s surprisingly comfortable. I fell asleep around 4 I think.

All I know is that it was bright outside so how did you sleep last night?”

As Nina says “I slept okay I just had a bit of stomach pain, and I have a little headache, but nothing to worry about I’m fine.

So what do you want to eat?”

Zeke then says “I don’t know I’m not hungry at all maybe later.

So what do you want to do for fun?”

Nina then says “I don’t know maybe go for a walk in the forest, behind my house we can go on the walking trail”

As Zeke says “Okay let’s go”

Nina opens the back door as her, and Zeke both walk out through the back door, and they go on the walking trail.

As they follow it further and further away from the house.

A few minutes later they come across a lake beside a cave, and they see a woman, and a man walk out of the cave, as the woman says “I smell blood of a newly turned wolf.Also a new spirit”

As the woman walks up to them and says “I guess you haven’t even figured out what all your powers are yet do you”

Zeke then says “No I just became a spirit last night now please go the both of you. We are just going for a walk and we don’t want to cause any trouble”

The woman then says “But we want to have a little fun with you guys.

But first I have a question.

Have you even transformed yet and who bit you?”

As Nina says “No I haven’t even transformed I was bit last night, and I’m not telling you who turned me”

Then the man says “That’s okay we don’t need your maker to have fun”As the man’s eyes turned pure red with black demon pupils, as his hands glowed dark red and he pointed his hands at Nina forcing her to shift.

As Nina’s eyes glowed purple and she screamed, because it felt like her bones were breaking all at once.

She then fell to her hands and knees, as wolf fur grew all over, and her nails grew into claws, and the palms of her hands turned into paw pads, and her teeth grew into wolf fangs.

After a while, Nina is fully shifted into her wolf form, as she looks over at the two people and she starts growling at them.

She walked up to the two and pounced on top of the female, and tried biting the girl.

But then the man used his magic to put bats in her head, as she got off of the girl, and bit the legs off the man, and bit the arms off of the man.

As she turned around and faced Zeke, and walked up to him, and looked up at Zeke, and pointed her head back home.

Nina started walking back home, because her kids were going to be coming home soon, as Zeke followed Nina back home.

Zeke suddenly tried to concentrate on his hand, as he put it on Nina’s back, as light blue dust went around Nina, and she transformed back into her human form.

As Nina stood up and looked at Zeke, and says “How did you do that Zeke I thought you couldn’t touch me?”

Zeke then says “I just focused on helping you”

Nina nods her head okay and heads inside with Zeke, and Nina closes the door, and locks it then goes to get dressed into her work clothes.

As Jay and Rose walk through the front door, and closes it Jay says “Mom we’re home.Where are you?”

Nina then says “I’m just upstairs getting changed into my work clothes. I’ll be down in just a second”

As Nina comes walking down the stairs and says “So how was school, anything happen?”

Jay then says “Nothing much I have some homework and so does Rose”

Nina then says “Okay you two work on your homework while I’m gone to work which I have to leave now.Okay bye guys see you at the same time tomorrow and be nice to each other” As Nina walks out the front door and locks it and gets in her car and drives off to work.

*5 minutes pass by as Nina arrives to work*

Nina pulls into the parking lot and parks her car, and gets out then locks her car, and heads inside the hospital.

Ash walks up towards Nina and says “Hey Nina how did you hold up through the day”

Nina then says “I don’t really want to talk about it Ash all I will say is that it was rough for me”

Ash then says “Why don’t you want to talk about it?Well anyways if you do you can tell me at any time, because I am a very good listener.

So I’m here if you want to talk about anything.

Now let’s get going tonight we are in section F the very top of the building.

It’s where we bring people to recover from their mental illness, but I will warn you that section F is the most haunted part in the hospital.

So let’s go I promise to protect you when we are up there”

After a few minutes Nina and Ash reach the very top of the building all the way up to section F.

Ash then says “Now we have to make sure that nothing escapes to any other room, or any other sections, because it could be deadly to any of our other patients.

These patients here are fine, because nothing really can harm them unless they are very messed up in the head.

Or they have tried killing themselves, which we do have some of those types of patients, so we have to be careful”

*5 minutes go by*

The lights suddenly start flickering again.

Then all of a sudden, all the lights on the top floor went out, as they started hearing high heels, clicking on the ground walking towards them.

Ash then says “Nina do you smell that?It smells like a blood bath”

Nina then says “Yeah I smell it as well.Who could be coming over to us?”

The woman suddenly says “Oh you haven’t figured that part out yet?Here Nina I will give you a hint you tore off my lovers legs, and arms almost killing him, but now it’s time for payback”

Ash then says “Nina, who is this person?”

Nina then says “It’s someone I met earlier today someone.

I’m not fond of already she made me go through so much pain, because of her so called lover”

Ash then says “What did they make you do Nina?”

The woman then says “Oh Nina you haven’t told your friend yet what my lover helped you with”

As Nina says in an angered voice “It wasn’t help he forced me to transform when I wasn’t even ready, now go or I will do the same thing I did to your lover, and I will do it to you”

The woman laughs and says “You can try but one thing you haven’t found out about me is that I’m stronger than an average vampire.

I could kill you with one finger, but I don’t want to do that I want to make you feel torture like.

You did with my lover, and I forgot to mention I met your kids, and they were very nice to me.

I told them what you were and they didn’t believe me so I showed them what you did to my lover, and then they started believing me, because they saw wolf teeth around his arms, and legs that you bit off, and I had some fun with them”

As Nina starts getting angry her eyes turn purple, as they glow with fiery and Nina transforms into her wolf form.

*2 minutes went by as Nina is fully shifted into her full wolf form*

Nina suddenly looks around and gets her eyes locked on the woman, and charges at her, and pounces on her, taking the woman down to the ground, and tries biting at the woman’s face.

Then the woman sank her fangs into Nina’s neck, releasing venom into Nina’s bloodstream.

As Nina yelps and she tries getting out of the hold.

Ash hears the yelp and runs over, and punches the woman so hard it knocks her out.

Nina then falls to the ground and shifts back, trying to hold in her pain as tears come out of her eyes, as her purple glowing eyes start flickering.As her whole body shakes.

Ash then says “I can help Nina but it will hurt a lot.Do you want me to do it?”

Nina then says “Yes…Ash….do…it..Please”

Ash kneels down getting to Nina’s height on the ground, as he goes up to Nina’s neck, and bites into her neck, and starts sucking out all the vampire venom inside Nina’s bloodstream.

Ash finishes and takes his fangs out of Nina’s neck, as Ash looks over at Nina and says “Nina are you feeling okay?If you can hear me I couldn’t get all the venom out, but it’s not too serious the little bit of venom inside your blood.

It just needs to pass through it won’t hurt at all but you will be a bit shaky around the morning”

Nina then says “Thank you Ash for helping me.Now help me up please we have to get back to work”

Ash then says “I will help you up but you need your rest now, or you can help me but you will have to stay with me.

Wherever I go so I can keep an eye on you now let’s go”As Ash holds out his hand and helps Nina up, and walks beside Nina.

But just then Nina’s phone starts ringing, as Nina picks it up and answers it, as Jay says “Mom what’s happening?A woman came here to the house with a man whose arms, and legs were torn apart. The woman said that it was you that did it, is that true?”

Nina then says “No Jay she was lying to freak you two out.Also why did you let them in?You know you’re not allowed to let anybody in unless it’s either me.

A family member or if it is a babysitter”

Jay then says “I didn’t she broke into the house, and she had a knife she threatened to hurt us, if we tried to call the cops on her she.

Also told us that you're a wolf and she showed us proof”

Nina then says “Jay that’s not true she just did that to freak you guys out. Don’t believe a word a stranger says about anyone in our family.

Just don’t trust them at all okay?”

Jay then says “Okay Mom when are you getting home tonight?Rose is afraid to go to sleep, and I am staying up so I can protect her.

Just stay safe and get back home soon”

Nina then says “Okay I will I just have to get back to work right now okay bye Jay”As Nina hangs up and puts her phone back in her pocket.

Ash then says “I will keep your kids safe I will watch the back of the house”

But just then a patient suddenly screams in pain and then he stops, and it goes dead silent.

As Nina and Ash go into the room where the patient was screaming,Ash walks up to the patient and he looks down at him.

The patient then looks up at him with pure black eyes, with white pupils as the patient grabs Ash by the throat.

Ash suddenly gasps for breath as his fangs come out, as Ash grabs a hold of the patient's hands and tries to tear apart his grip.

As Nina grabs the patient’s pillow and puts it over the patient’s face, and tries choking the patient out.

The patient’s grip loosens up as Ash pries the patient’s hands off, around Ash’s neck.

Nina then puts the pillow back under his head so the patient could sleep, as Nina says “You okay Ash?What was that?”

Ash then says “He almost choked me out, whatever happened to the patient most likely was a demon that possessed him.

But he will be back to normal in the morning, so don’t worry about him”

As Nina walks out of the room and into the hallway, and she looks down, and sees that the woman is gone, as Nina says “Ash didn’t you leave that woman lying down here?Because she is nowhere to be seen”

Ash walks out of the room and says “Nina come on I am taking you back home, so you can keep an eye on your kids”

Nina nods her head as Nina and Ash start heading to the main floor.

After a while they both get to the main floor, and they walk out the front doors and Ash, and Nina both get into her car, and Ash drives Nina back home.

*5 minutes later*

Ash parks in the driveway and Nina, and Ash get out, and Ash runs over to the back staying out of sight of the kids.

Nina unlocks the front door and walks through,then locks the door as Nina looks around to see if Jay, or Rose are still up, and then Nina says “Zeke where are you?”

Zeke suddenly appears in front of Nina, and says “Nina not right now the man, and the woman from earlier are here, and the man has his arms and legs back, and they are in Jay’s room together, come on hurry!”

Nina and Zeke rush upstairs into Jay’s room, as Nina runs into Jay’s room, and says “Kids get back now”As she turns and faces the man, and the woman,and says in anger “Tell me your names and why you are here”

The woman says “Fine I’m Misty and this is Dex, and we are here, because we knew you were going to be home around this time, and you brought your so-called doctor friend.

Over to the house and we can show your kids what you really are, and you can’t fight it.

Or you will bleed to death or there is another option, and it is you can tell your kids what you really are”

Ash suddenly senses danger from upstairs inside the house,as he runs inside and upstairs, as he walks into the room and sees Nina, and her kids, as Ash looks over at the two with his fangs out, and his eyes pure black making sure that Nina’s kids, don’t see what he is, as Ash says “Why don’t you take me on outside and leave Nina’s family alone.

I can show you what true power and true strength is about”

Dex then says “Very interesting, but I know something even more interesting we can do, let’s see how strong you really are”As Dex points the palm of his hand to Ash’s head, and releases his hunger making Ash want to feed very badly.

Making all Ash’s thoughts go into hunger.

Ash then says “Nina take your kids and drive off far, until you receive my text showing that it’s okay to come back.

Now Go before you get hurt. I don't know how long.

I can keep myself at bay and I have some stuff.

I need to get done here to make sure your house will be safe”As Ash’s veins turned all black,and Ash says “Go Now I Don’t Want To Hurt You Guys”

Nina takes her kids down to the main floor and unlocks the front door, and opens it, and says “Kids get in the car now”As her kids open the car doors and get in, as they get buckled in, as Nina also gets in and buckles up, and closes the car door and drives off far away.

Ash then says “Okay now where were we oh right me killing the two of you”Ash runs at Misty and Dex, and he snaps Misty’s neck killing her, as Ash goes to snap Dex’s neck.

Dex grabs Ash’s neck and says “You think you're so tough or do you just want to impress your wolf girlfriend.

You even know you aren’t supposed to be helping a wolf like her.

She should have already been killed by you, and I’m curious why you haven't killed her yet.

Why is she so special to you?But anyways I will take good care of her, and her kids”

Ash then says “That is none of your business I will only say this I haven’t killed her, because she is one of a kind.

She doesn’t even think about hurting me, that's all I will say,and you won’t be going anywhere Near Nina or her kids”Ash grabs Dex’s throat and snaps it making it so Dex can’t wake up.

As the grip loosens off of Ash’s neck, as Ash goes over to Dex and drains him dry.

Not even leaving a drop of blood as he does the same to Misty, and then Ash picks them both up, and carries them out back.

As he makes a fire pit far away from people, as Ash’s hands set on fire,Ash then throws the fire on Misty and Dex.

Leaving no trace behind as Ash makes it, so the fire doesn’t spread on anything except on Misty and Dex.

Ash then puts the fire out after a while, as he runs back to the house, as he fixes the glass from the back door with a fix spell, as Ash texts Nina saying *Okay Nina it’s safe they will never hurt you or your family ever again* Ash sends the text, as he runs to the blood bank and grabs a couple blood bags, and pays for them, and then runs out.

Drinking most of the bags leaving 10 still full, as he then puts it in his mini fridge and locks the mini fridge with a security code.

That will only open up the mini fridge, as he brings it back to Nina’s house leaving it inside up against the wall.

As he goes to the bathroom and cleans the blood off his face, and then he walks out of the bathroom, as he goes back to his normal looking self.

Nina gets home after a couple minutes went by, as Nina and her kids walk through the front door.

Ash then says “Okay Jay and Rose you can both head up to bed I have to talk to your mom privately”

Jay then says “How do you know our names?”

Ash then says “Because your mom talks about you guys all the time, she tells me how you both have been working so hard, and you guys have been very good at following.

What your mom has been asking you to do, and don’t worry those two people are arrested now.

They are locked up far away and they won’t even be able to touch you.

Or your family ever again you will be safe, as long as I am here to protect you and your family”

Nina then says Okay kids I’m safe and so are you guys as well so you can go up to bed.

As Rose and Jay head upstairs to go to bed, as they close their doors, Ash then says “It’s fine I dealt with it, they won’t even bother you guys ever again.

Also I’m fine as well. I handled my hunger and I’m in control, and I promise I will never put your kids in any harms way.

I just need a place to stay for a while, because my place was sold by the government even though I never wanted my place being sold.

But they did it anyways, now I’m living on the streets. I just got kicked out today.

So may I please stay with you and your family?Until I find a place of my own”

Nina then says “Sure you can stay with me and my family, but don’t let them catch you they can be sneaky.

So the most private space in the house is the basement, where Zeke is usually located, and don’t worry there is furniture down there, and also carpet so be careful not to spill anything on the carpet”

Ash then says “Okay thank you Nina for letting me stay here, until I find my own place, and I will also keep an eye out, to see if any of your kids try to sneak downstairs”Ash stands up and hugs Nina for a few seconds, then let’s go, and grabs his mini fridge, and brings it downstairs to the basement, and closes the door, and walks downstairs.

He then gets downstairs to the basement and plugs in his mini fridge, and looks over, and says “Hey Zeke how is living with Nina and her kids going?”

Zeke then says “It’s been okay, rather than those two people that barged into the house, but I heard the conversation.So I know now that we are safe now. So what do vampires do?And why did you decide to work at a hospital aren’t vampires killers?”

Ash then says “I decided to work at a hospital, because I wanted to help people, and not all vampires are killers.

Some are actually very in control of their hunger, like me I know how to control myself to a certain extent.

But what happened an hour ago, I haven’t felt that uncontrollable hunger in years, and also vampires like to do whatever humans like to do, and fun fact did you know vampires can eat regular human food.

But it has an awful taste, but we do it so humans don’t think anything suspicious of us”

Zeke then says “That’s okay, I guess it’s better being able to touch and taste, and feel things, and also being able to be seen by others.

At least you can do all that stuff, unlike me where people can’t see me, and I don’t know what to do to get my door opened up.

Can you help me try to figure out what I have to do?

I used to have a girlfriend, but when I died it’s like she didn’t care for me.

She didn’t even show any emotion when I died, and I went to see her.

I just saw her with her best friend from college, but apparently she had more feelings about him than me. Maybe I have to get revenge on her?”

Ash then says “Maybe it could be the cause on why you are still on earth, maybe I could help in a way”

But just then Jay comes creeping down the stairs, and opens the basement door very quietly, not making a sound, as he watches Ash.

Ash then continuous to say “Just tell me when and where so I know where we are going”Ash suddenly looks over at the door, because he heard blood pumping, as Ash stands up and walks up to the stairs, and says “Hey Jay aren’t you supposed to be up in your bed sleeping?Why did you come down here?”

Jay then says “I heard talking coming from the basement.I was wondering what was going on”

Ash then says “I was talking on the phone through an ear piece. I am on a very important call, sorry if I am being too loud.

I will quiet down just go back to sleep”

Jay then says “Fine I’ll go to sleep but just to let you know. I do not trust you, and don’t even think of being all buddy, buddy with my mom, because you will never be anything close to a dad for me or Rose”As Jay shuts the door and runs upstairs to his bed and falls asleep.

Zeke then says “Wow harsh much with Jay.Why does he think you're trying to be buddy, buddy with Nina?”

Ash then says “I don’t know, maybe his father died or broke Nina’s heart. Maybe I can ask Nina about it in the morning, after her kids go to school”

After a while passes by and morning rises, and Nina’s kids head out front to catch the bus.

Zeke and Ash head upstairs to the main floor, as Ash says “Hey Nina how are you feeling today.Did you get a good sleep last night?”

Nina then says “I slept a little, but I was mostly up all night, because I was to worried about anyone trying to fill my kids heads up with stories”

Zeke then says “Hey Nina just curious what happened to your husband because your kid Jay doesn’t seem relaxed at all with Ash”
