(Penny’s POV)
The weight of Max's declaration lingered in the air as we both stared at each other, seemingly lost in our eyes and wanting nothing more than to pounce on one another,
And yet, for some weird reason, we seemed to be holding back, as though some evil force was stopping us from carrying out our heart’s desires, but I was still hopeful, hopeful that now that we had made a deal, he’d give me what my heart was craving before he left.
And so, you can imagine how dumbfounded I was when the connection between us broke only for Maximo to start heading towards the door, not a single word of explanation or goodbye to my face.
