[Chapter 12: Eventful day]
•>>———∘◦❁◦∘———(Elora / Brianna)
"How did you even manage to scare my friend away?" I asked incredulously as I looked at him from the corner of my eyes.
"Oh, well..." I saw him scratching the back of his neck as if he was nervous about something. Well he better! Once I find out how he scared Vanessa away, I'm gonna use that to my advantage and get even with him! Now look at the added trouble he caused me.
"I-uh. I'm actually—"
"Ella!" The white-haired guy was interrupted when a familiar voice called my name.
As soon as I saw Vandryk, a grin appeared on my face, so I approached him, jumped to place my arm around his tall body, and rubbed his head using the knuckles of my other hand.
"Ah, ow, ow!" He pried my arms off of him and I complied without much resistance as I grinned at him wickedly. He only grinned back and scratched my head the same— completely messing up my already messy hair.
"Why is your dress filthy?" He asked after looking me up and down. My eyes trailed off to the grandma behind me but I didn't say anything lest that I'd put the unwanted spotlight on him, but I did see how guilty the guy felt as he avoided my gaze.
"Oh.. I didn't even realized you were with someone." He said and stared at the man behind me.
They were staring at each other for what felt like hours as if they were having some mind telepathy thing going on... But wait! What if they are?...
"*ahem, uhh.." I started in an attempt to put an end to the growing uncomfortable silence, "Vandryk this is grand— oh, uhm, I mean.." I put one hand to cover my mouth as I went to the guy's ear and whispered.. "Hey, what's your name..." I asked and I only saw him looking at me with amusement dancing in his eyes before trailing his gaze to Vandryk.
"I'm Sylver. Wattup... Vandryk." Grandma aka Sylver outstretched his hand for Vandryk to shake, and it took Vandryk a whole 3 seconds before accepting it.
Wait... I'm only realizing this now.. but I think that they are looking at each other as if they know each other. I see a knowing look in their eyes.. and there's something else that I couldn't quite place.
Do they have a feud going on? And why did Sylver said Vandyrk's name that way?
Eh! I could care less about their friendship, enemy, or lover feud. What I need to worry about right not is getting to Vanessa.
Oh shoot! Vanessa!! Uggh, not again...
I ran past them and towards who-knows-where as I attempted to find any clues or something that would lead me to my dearest friend.
Soon I heard scampering footsteps following behind me and Sylver was at my side. I looked behind to see Vandryk following us as well.
"Why bother following me?" I asked Sylver, and he looked at me in confusion. He was about to open his mouth probably to say something along the lines of 'I thought I was supposed to help you' when I cut him off.
"You two looked like you were about to kiss each other, so I left your lovey-dovey time." I said and grinned when I saw them blush from embarrassment.
"Kiss?!! Him??" I heard Vandryk exclaim from behind me, and then he came right next to me to put his heavy arm around my neck. I only laughed when I saw Sylver with his wide eyes and disgusted face.
"I'd rather kiss-------" I whipped my head around to look at Vandryk who was looking away from me.
"What was that?" I inquired with a teasing grin on my face, "Who did you say you would rather kiss..?" He turned to me with an even more blush-filled face and my grin widened when I realized something.
"Who is this lucky girl you're having a crush on???" I asked and he only squeezed his arm around my neck; not enough to choke me, but probably just to say that I should stop my probing.
I faked a choking noise and he laughed.
I guess I'm gonna stop.. for now at least... kekeke.
"What are you doing outside? Lunch barely even started." Vandryk asked after a few minutes of silence and Sylver only looked at Elora with a knowing look before grinning.
"None of your business Van." He said with a hint of vexation but I only rolled my eyes at his rude remark.
"We were going to get Vanessa." I said and then that's when I realized that I had taken too much time chatting with them.
"Oh YEAH! We are..." I heard Sylver trail off and I looked at him with quirked eyebrows. Why did he say it like that?
That's when I realized, the moment I looked in front, that this dumbass brought me to the cafeteria where students started ogling at us. Or rather, to the two handsome creatures that were beside me.
I clenched my fist and he saw that so he closed his eyes and bent down slightly to shield himself but I smacked him at the back of his head instead.
"You fool!!" I shrieked and then I pinched his ear and turned to Vandryk who was looking at the scene with amused eyes.
"Sorry, we gotta go Vandryk." I said and flashed him a smile before dragging a groaning Sylver.
"Take me where they took her!" I said after we turned the corner, finally letting go of his ear that had turned red from my grasp. He rubbed his ear and was wincing in pain as I waited for him expectantly.
"I'm surely gonna get back on you sometime!" He threatened before finally walking with me behind.
"Oh yeah?" I taunted with a smirk but he said nothing.
We walked a few more times before we finally stopped in front of a door that says 'Principal'. My hands hovered at the door knob but Sylver held my hand to stop me. I looked at him to see him holding his pointer finger upwards in front of his lips, signifying a 'shh' motion. I raised one eyebrow up but the voices I heard inside the room had me lowering them.
"I did not pay for this school just so you could skip classes and slack off!!" I heard a female woman say, probably someone from her 30's.
"But mom! Its not like I'm getting a failing grade!! It was only one time--" I heard a loud slap and I covered my mouth from shock.
"Please calm down, lady Sevilla.." I heard another female voice say that was probably on her 80's and that was when I decided to go in.
As soon as the door opened, all eyes turned on me.
"It was me." I said straight to the point. I saw Vanessa looking at me with wide and shocked eyes, her mother with furrowed brows, and the principal with unreadable ones.
"What do you mean? And who are you to just barge in like that?!" Vanessa's mother sassed. I walked closer until I was right in front of her.
"It was my fault. I dragged her and persuaded her to skip classes with me." I said and it took a few seconds for her to process what I said.
"Mom I told you it doesn't really matt--" Before Vanessa could even finish her sentence, a loud slap resonated in the room. Her mother had slapped me and everyone was quiet.
I turned my head back to her to see her seething. I saw Vanessa had her mouth wide open from shock and she was frozen in her place.
"It was my fault" I said and turned my attention towards the principal, "so give me whatever consequences you have to offer." I continued before holding Vanessa's arm and dragging her away and out of the room.
Sylver was outside waiting the entire time, and when he saw me and probably my reddened cheeks, his eyes went wide as saucers.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"No." I deadpanned and continued on with my way.
GAAAAHHHH!! MY CHEEKS ARE BURNING!!!! I can't believe I acted like a hero back there, that was so cool though hehehe
But still, even after all the times my mom had slapped me in my past life, it still hurt like a b***h. Maybe because this is a different body that haven't received any slapping yet and so that's why it's hurting so much. It literally feels like my cheeks are on fire.
I'm gonna be honest when I say that tears almost sprung in my eyes when the pain settled in earlier. Damn though, that woman knows how to slap!!
I was so out of it that I didn't realize my brother coming close. Not until he held my chin did I notice his presence.
"Oh my god, Elora, what happened to your face??" He asked, worry lacing his tone.
"Uh--"
"Who did this to you?!!" His expression then change to that of fury. I even saw fire in his eyes and his fist clenching as if he were seconds away from punching someone.
"Oh- uhh-- It was no o---"
"Prince Alistair...??" I heard Vanessa mutter beside me and that reminded me of her existence.
"Elo..ra?" Oh shoot! I know what's to come, gotta brace myself for it... aaghh!!
"You're the princess of Aeanthra Kingdom?!!" She suddenly screamed making me cover her mouth quickly.
"Shush!" I said and threw brother Ali a glare to which he raised both his hands up in a surrendering motion. He was looking at me with apologetic eyes and I didn't say anything to him after that. I kinda get why he did that, he is an overprotective brother after all so it's no surprise he'd freak out when he sees a hand mark on his little sister's face.
"Uhm... Well, now you know.. Please don't tell anyone!!!" I begged her and she was still in shock but she soon caught up with what happened and slowly nodded her head.
I then remembered that Sylver was right behind us so I looked back only to see him nowhere to be found. Good. He didn't follow us then. That means that he hadn't heard us.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in the cafeteria already?" with your group of fake friends..?
"Oh, I opted to look for you since I miss you is a--" He cut himself short when he realized what he said and then turned his gaze away. I saw him blushing and I only smiled wryly.
"Awww.. dwid our wittle pwincey Awistair missed his wittle sissy???" I mocked in a fake baby voice and he seemed to blush harder at that. I just laughed at him and he took me by the neck and rubbed my head with his knuckles.
"Agh! Stop that!! You're ruining my precious hair after I spent an hour tying it!!" I grumbled which was true since Elora's hair was a b***h to take care of since it was so thick and long. I never worried about tying my hair back in my past life since the strands were thin but now, my current hair makes me sweat all the time.
It's not like I had some maid that would come to my room to take care of my needs. Well, someone was supposed to come every morning to take care of the ladies so it was mandatory to take one or two personal maid along with you if you were to stay in the dorms. Only, the maids are supposed to stay in on a different building. But I still really wasn't used to someone bathing, clothing, and taking care of me so I ordered my personal maids to take a day off. Ruby was reluctant at first but she didn't have a say in it after I told her that it was an order.
It was nice to have some personal space once in a while. When I first came to this world, I was reluctant at the idea of someone taking care of me in the mansion but Ruby literally begged to me to let her take care of me. That was one of the first few days that everyone thought I was sick or possessed since Elora never takes care of her own self.
"Uhmm.. so Her Highness..." I heard Vanessa mutter and I turned to her to see her looking at me with fearful eyes.
"Are you going to press charges at my mother...?" She asked and I looked at her with furrowed brows.
"What? NO! That's a bit too much for just a simple slap. Besides, It didn't even hurt that much." I shrugged.
Lies. My conscience told me but I pushed it away.
"So it was her mother that did this to you huh?" I heard brother Ali say lowly and I suddenly felt a dangerous and deadly aura oozing from him.
"Hehehe.. let's go brother Ali, I've been starving since earlier!..." I said and hugged his arm as I started dragging him away and into the direction of the cafeteria.
It seemed to work as a distraction cause I no longer felt his dangerous aura flowing. Instead, I saw him smiling when I looked up at him.
"Oh why didn't you say so then?" He said and I looked behind and motioned Vanessa to follow us. She did after some debate in her mind and she gave me a shy and polite smile.
We went towards the cafeteria with me still latching on Alistair's arm, and when we did go inside, all eyes turned to us. Whoops.. I forgot.
I quickly let go of brother Ali's arm and instead latched onto Vanessa's arm and I started to drag her away and into the queue. I looked back at brother to see him with a sad look but he quickly brushed it off when he saw me looking at him and he smiled at me. He then went towards a table with his group of friends and I sighed.
Knowing his personality, he probably wants to brag me to his friends or something. But he knows that I didn't want any attention and is still keeping my identity a secret so he doesn't say anything about it and just let me be; which I appreciate.
I turned my attention back to see a rigid looking Vanessa standing next to me. I put my palm next to my lips and went close to her ear.
"You don't have to be nervous around me just because I'm a royal." I whispered which startled her at first but soon, her rigid stance lessened just a bit and she gave me a soft smile.
We ordered our food and searched around for an empty table but the one that was empty was just so conveniently right next to Alistar's table. Great.
We walked towards it and sat down quietly. I saw brother Ali drift his gaze at us for a bit before turning back to his friends that was saying something about Aeanthra Kingdom.
"So Your Highness." I heard one of his girl friends say as I ate the chicken soup that was served to me, "Who was that earlier..? Was she your lover??" I spit the soup in my mouth at the same time Alistair chocked on his water.
"Shit." I muttered under my breath and quickly took some napkins that were in the table and gave them to Vanessa. I looked at her apologetically and she just nodded, thankfully it was only her arms that got wet and not her uniform.
"Oh! I didn't even realize she's right beside us. Hi you!" The girl turned her attention to me, and I only smiled awkwardly while wiping my lips.
"So... what's your relationship with His Highness of Aeanthra Kingdom?" She interrogated and since she was turning away from her table, nobody saw the threatening look in her eyes exept me. Oh, she probably likes my brother *ahem* I meant his status. b***h. The only one who deserves him is Antonella not you, you wanton!
"It's not like that Bee!" I heard brother say in panic as he looked at me with worry-filled eyes.
"Oh! I forgot to introduce myself," She ignored my brother, "my name's Bee Charlene... and I see that your with...." She trailed off and looked in front of me with a smirk to see a cowering Vanessa. Why? Wait... Is she being bullied?
"Why does my relationship with His Highness matter to you??" I sassed with raised eyebrow and she reciprocated the look.
"Well, if you know what's better for you, it's better you stay away." She said.
"Bee! Stop it, I said it's not like that." My brother tried but he was ignored again.
Bee squinted her eyes and looked me up and down, "Oh aren't you that rumored barbaric woman?!" She mocked and started laughing loudly, making other students look at us, "Much more reason to stay away from him. You wouldn't wanna taint His Highness' reputation don't ya?" I rolled my eyes.
"There's one thing you should know, b***h, I would never consider being with His Highness cause I know he already likes someone else. And we're childhood friends, unlike you who only met him like a week ago and is already acting like a jealous lover." I said with an eyeroll and was about to stand up when the stupid buzzing Bee held my arm.
"What did you call me?!!" She shrieked and I mentally face palmed myself. Out of all the things I said, the only thing that loaded to her bee-sized brain is the fact that I called her b***h.
"Oh that? It's your nickname. Bee Charlene, Beech." I said and yanked my arm out of her grasp.
"It didn't sound like what you called me earlier though!" She said and proceeded to stand up to block my path.
"That was intentional. It is a rather suiting nickname don't you thin--" Before I could even finish what I said, I was met with a very sharp searing pain on my left cheek— the very same cheek that Vanessa's mother had slapped.
Alistair was quick to stand up and went towards us. He held Beech's arm with force and looked at her darkly.
"How dare you do that to my s..friend?!!" He muttered darkly and I saw Beech looking at him with wide, fearful eyes.
"She insulted a Marquess' daughter!!" She argued.
"Do you even know what status she has?!!" My brother said in a dark and authoritative tone.
Beech looked at me then back to my brother and finally to his feet, "No..." She muttered meekly.
"Leave." Brother said with finality.
"But--"
"LEAVE!" He angrily said and that's when Beech scurried away. As soon as she left, brother Ali went towards me and cupped my cheek softly as he studied my face. It would surely bruise after a few minutes.
"Let's take you to the infirmary." He said and held my arm but I took it away.
"It's fine. Vanessa can escort me. Just go and enjoy your food with your.. friends." I said trailing off and looking behind him.
I don't want any more rumors to spread about us. It's better we keep it down low for a while.
I scurried out of the cafeteria while holding my left cheek tenderly. God, it would surely bruise.
"Are you okay Your Highness..?" I heard someone mutter beside me and I smiled to see a worried looking Vanessa.
"Call me Ella. We're friends now remember? Also, not a lot of people knows I'm the neighboring Kingdom's princess so don't call me that." I said and she looked at me with furrowed brows.
"Oh, so that's why they thought that His Highness was your lover." She said grimacing at the thought of me being in a relationship with my brother.
"Yeah." I said and nobody said anything after that.
True to my word, Vanessa did escort me to the infirmary even after I told her that it was okay for her to go back since I know the way to the infirmary myself. But she insisted, saying that she wanted to see me okay before leaving me, and I admire her for that.
We were about to go inside the infirmary when I heard someone calling Vanessa's name. We both looked towards the source of the voice and we saw her mother. She was looking at her daughter with a reprimanding look and she grimaced when her line of sight went to me, but then she smirked when she saw my reddened cheek. I only rolled my eyes inwardly.
Vanessa was about to go to her mother when I pulled her hand. She looked at me and I shook my head but she just smiled and looked at me with eyes that was telling me that it was okay.
I slowly, hesitantly, let her hand go and watch one last time as her mother took her away rather forcefully— but not before sneering at me. As soon as they had their backs on me I put one finger under my eye and stuck my tongue out.
"Bitch." I muttered before finally going inside the room.
*sighs*
What an eventful day. Hopefully my teachers wouldn't mind me skipping the rest of the day entirely. Hehe.. I couldn't care less though.
I intended to apply something to lessen the swelling and the pain I was feeling but, unfortunately, the nurse was gone. Just great.
I tried to find some cream myself but I didn't know anything about healing stuffs especially in this world so with a disgruntled sigh, I took a seat on one of the beds and thought of the events that had taken place.
What an eventful day.
I felt my head throbbing again and I lied down while grimacing.
I haven't felt this ever since that time with Antonella. I don't even know why I'm getting headaches in the first place. It's not like I'm sick right?
Speaking of sick. I'm feeling rather homesick.
I have only spent two weeks in this school and I already miss my family so much. Papa.. brother Art.... and all the other workers that I managed to get close to.
I wonder how they're doing.
It's a shame that I wouldn't be able to see them for two months though. *sigh*
With the thought of my family in mind, my eyes slowly started to close as the tiredness from the events dawned down on me.
Can this day be even more eventful though..?
