Emily POV I walked out the door and headed to the kitchen. It was one of my comfort places to go when I was lost and confused. The cook I fondly called Cookie because she always smelt like cookies and cream to me. Cookie was my comfort. Cookie's warm arms often engulfed me in a loving hug. Cookie's kind, knowing eyes always knew when I needed a hug. Entering the busy kitchen, I stopped briefly to take in the activity. Being mealtime was always a crazy time. Cookie looked over the head of the girl she was talking to. Cookie grabbed a plate of bacon and tomatoes and handed it to the serving girl. Her eyes briefly looked at the girl as she gave her the plate, and then she returned to me. She knew I needed her comfort immediately and was happy to leave the busy kitchen to look after itself
