4. Clean-up

1422 Words
I run out as fast as I can. I have to follow that blood trail. This is not good. It's a really short run. The blood only goes 2 houses down. There I find my brother Victor and best friend Clark. They are sucking blood from the neighbors dog. I stand there watching in horror as they come out of frenzy. They each in their own time realize what they are doing. And then they both vomit. They are very confused. "I'll explain everything once we all get cleaned up." Is about all I can say. This is a traumatic night for all of us. And we really need to clean all this blood up. We go back to mom's house. I get the hose and spray off the blood trail outside. It takes about half an hour of spraying water. But I'm satisfied with the results. No one will track the dog attack to this house. They will probably think it's an animal attack anyway. The inside room is easier to clean up. There isn't much blood on the walls, and I mop it off the floor quickly. By the time I get the house clean, my brother is done cleaning up and Clark is in the shower. "I have no other clothes here. Is your car here?" Victor seems to be in a trance but he nods at me. "Okay, mom will be home soon, so we can take your car to my apartment. I'll drive." No way I am going to let either of them drive as shaken up as they are. "It's 5 am so Jess should have already left to make it to the airport on time. We'll have an empty place all day to talk." My brother sits at the kitchen table and doesn't say a word while Clark is in the shower. He looks like he could start puking again at any time. I really feel bad about this and I don't even remember what happened. I do remember that the old vampire said there are only 10 spots for the school and I hope they still have 3. I will let them enroll first. But. I guess it's pointless to worry about any of this right now. "Why were you guys here last night?" It's the only question I can think to ask. Victor shakes his head. Clark comes out of the bathroom, "Jess called us. She was worried about you. She said you were really confused after an animal attack and she didn't think you should be left alone. I packed a bag for the night and headed over." He motions at Victor, apparently trying to get him to talk. But he still isn't saying anything. "He was here before I got here. I figure Jess called him as well. She was really worried." All I can do is nod. I feel so terrible about this. They did nothing to deserve it. They were only trying to help me. "Let's head to my house before my mother gets home and wonders what the hell is going on." I write a note to mom letting her know not to worry. We're all good and just going to my house this morning so we won't disturb her sleep today. The car ride goes as expected. Both of them are very quiet and not saying a word. I drive. We get to my place, Jess and the kids are gone. They sit down in the living room while I go to take a quick shower and change clothes. After I get cleaned up, I start off by telling them we are all vampires now. I tell them about what happened to me and the frenzy. How I woke up with a rabbit. How the old vampire explained so much to me. About the labor camp and the laws. Also about the school. They take it a lot better than I did. But then again, they know me and I didn't stab either of them. "So let me get this straight, we all have to go back to school? For how long? I thought I was done with that s**t?" Victor only went to high school and barely made it through that. But he always did like the girls and parties. "Really, out of all of this, that's what you have a problem with? I really don't want to eat any more dogs..." Clark turns green as he says it. "I promise once we get registered at the school, we will all go out to the woods and I will show you how to eat. As long as you don't let your energy drop to low, you can eat what you want and that will never happen again." I'm trying to be reassuring. Clark rubs his eyes, "Okay, let's search for this school website then." "Yeah." I sit between them on the couch with my laptop and pull up the website. It pops right up and seems like a normal college website. Buttons include current students log in, information, cost calculator, new student register. Nothing looks like it's a school for vampires and no part of the website really works. Information gives nothing. The cost calculator is a general calculator for current average college costs. The current student button seems to work, but only goes to a log-in screen. It is a white page with a spot for student number and another spot for password. Nothing else is shown. "This website isn't really helping at all. I'll register first, let's see if anything actually happens." Clark is always skeptical. "Okay, click new student register, then fill in all your information. Make sure it's all correct in those boxes. So you get the log in stuff correctly." I point out areas on the screen. He fills it all in. There's not a lot of information, mostly the normal stuff: name, date of birth, social security number, address, phone number, email address. Have to submit an email 2 or 3 times, and then set a password. Victor takes the laptop next. He has to get into his wallet for his social security number. Then he messes up the password. I guess it doesn't match the first one. Clarks irritated, "Will you hurry the hell up? I ate a dog today!" "I'm almost done. Just give me another second you impatient d**k wad." Victor is trying to focus. "What the f**k is a d**k wad? You gigantic ass hat." Clark flips on the TV and puts his feet on the coffee table. "There, Done. Your turn man." He hands me the computer. I enter all my info and hit the submit button. I'm not sure if that means we are all accepted or we all submitted applications to the school. I am really worried about this. I hear Clarks email ding on his phone. "I got it, I've been accepted to the school. I have a student ID number. It says I use that to log onto the website with the password I made. It says all the information I need will be on the website within 12 hours. I will also be able to print off any plane tickets from the site that I need to get to the school. Those might take longer than 12 hours to show up." He is reading the information from his email to us. -Ding- Brothers phone goes off, "same email. We're both in. One more then we can stop worrying about going to prison simply because we exist." "One of you log on to the website, see what other information we can find out." I hand the laptop to Clark, believing Victor forgot his password by now. The login page is really nice and easy to navigate, but nothing is filled in it yet. Classes are still blank. Nothing in tickets or cost. We still can't even figure out where the school is. We search around the website for another 15 minutes but never really figure anything out. Most all the links lead to a white page for now. "The email said it takes 12 hours to make sure everything gets filled out... so we'll have to be patient, I guess." Clark pouts. I however, am starting to panic. I still haven't received my email and now I am sure they have filled up for the year. "Alright, let's head to the woods. I can get my email on the way." I don't want to let them know how scared I am.
