Chapter 10 Future

1914 Words
“What?” she asked, “Don’t I look good with it?” “No,” Eric whispered. He averted his eyes back, and he looked nervous too. “You look very beautiful with it, but it made me want to kiss you so badly,” he said. Leona flushed too. Damn! He was like literally 18 years old. How could he be so damn good at flirting? “You can…kiss me,” Leona answered after a few moments. She felt so shy and nervous, but she was the grow-up here. She got to be the braver one. “Just kiss me,” she said. Eric’s face totally burned. He was now as red as a beet. Leona could literally see the white steam coming up from the top of his head. She was pretty sure that he had never kissed any girl before, and she felt happy to be his first one. “I will…try my best,” he said and his voice was a bit shaky. Leona smiled. She then closed her eyes, and lifted up her head a little, waiting for him to kiss her. It was like she was back in her teenage time again, but it was fun. They should have dated while they were teenagers. Eric was very nervous. Leona’s thought was right. He had never kissed a girl before. He hadn’t even dated anyone. Throughout all these past years, he had been praying to grow up fast, waiting for his 18th birthday, to reunite with Leona. Now she was here, right in front of him, waiting for him to kiss her. He felt so happy about it but was afraid that he might not be good enough. After some heavy but quick struggle, he took a short breath, and then slowly leaned forward to press his lips onto hers. Right before their lips touched each other, a loud cough came from the back of the counter. Eric instantly looked away in the opposite direction. Leona frowned unhappily. She looked towards the owner and asked him, “What?!” The owner answered with an embarrassed cough, pretending he had just interrupted nothing. “The car is ready. I’ve parked it at the front door,” he said. Leona glared at him. It was such a great moment but was ruined brutally. She was a little bit angry. “I am going to take this mask, too,” she said. The owner shrugged his shoulders, “Anything you like.” That mask had been placed there for decades. No wolf in this district would ever spend money on such things anyway. “Just never tell anyone you got them, the mask and the dynamite from my place,” he threw the car key to Leona, and then added reluctantly, “Please.” Leona replied to him with an indifferent smile. It was both a “Yes” and a “No”, depending on how things would go in the future. The owner then came out from the back of the counter and opened the front door for them. Leona walked out first. Eric followed her. There was a really old red car parked at the roadside. Leona walked directly to the driver’s seat. Eric then got in the passenger’s seat. “Where are we going?” After Leona started the engine, Eric finally asked, not about the dynamite but about their destination. Leona answered, “Downtown,” and then stepped on the gas. Felix’s army was still searching the bar, questioning everyone there for Eric’s information. Leona could sense them from a few streets away. She changed direction a few times to avoid them, and then got out of the district and went back to the city. It was already after midnight. Not many cars and passersby on the streets. Leona drove really fast. Soon they reached one of those tall buildings downtown. Eric recognized it was the building owned by her ex-husband, Austin. After they got married, Austin founded a trade company, selling merchandise, mostly artwork, from the human world to wealthy wolves, and called it intercultural communication. It helped Austin establish a great reputation among wolves and earned him a fortune, but he only got it started with Leona’s family money. And now it was time for him to pay off the debt. “Let’s switch the car.” After parking the car at the underground parking lot of the building, Leona unbuckled the safety belt and got out of the car with the detonator. Eric followed her. He now saw what Leona was preparing to do. He was a bit worried, but he wasn’t going to stop her. “What if someone is still in the building? They might be working late tonight,” he asked while following Leona to another side of the parking lot. Leona answered him with a smile. She liked how thoughtful and kind he was. “No worries,” she said, “Before we detonate the bomb, we will get them out of the building.” Eric then nodded his head. Leona was an absolute legend even in the wolf world. He would never question her decision. They got to a red Mercedes parking at the corner. The car key was hidden in one of its front wheels. Leona took it out and then explained to Eric while opening the car door, “It was the Valentine's present he gave me, but I’ve never gotten the chance to use it until now.” Eric nodded his head. He hated everything related to that treacherous human. But he knew now it wasn’t the time to get picky. He got inside the car too. Leona then quickly drove out of the parking lot from another exit. Outside, the streets got even quieter as the night got deeper. They went directly out of the city, and then stopped at that same ancient city wall where those two gardeners tried to bury her, and where she was stolen by Eric. She parked the car at the roadside and got out of it. After Eric got out too. Leona hopped on the engine hood, and then stepped onto the top of the car. Eric looked up at her from beside the car. On such a quiet night, and with that blowing cold wind, she looked so beautiful with that snow-like long hair and that mighty lion mask, like the real Goddess of true warriors, but also the Goddess of him alone. Leona perceived his soulful gaze. She then lowered her head from the top, and smiled at him, and then she reached out her hand to him, inviting him to join her on the car roof. Eric then quickly climbed up the car. He grabbed her hand while he was stepping onto the car roof. It was a pretty narrow area up there. They stood really close to each other. Right after Eric kept his feet, out of the blue, he kissed her. He pressed his lips on hers, first nibbled a little carefully, and then he pried into her mouth with his tongue. He was so eager to have her, and felt so painful with all those love and passions loaded in his heart. Leona embraced him. She kissed him back so deeply and passionately. Hadn’t they been on the top of the car, she would have hopped onto him and let him hold her. Too bad they were in the middle of nowhere and she still had a dumbass ex-husband to deal with. “Wait a minute. Wait.” Right after Eric slipped his hand to her waist, Leona broke free from him. She wanted to get further as badly as he wanted, but she had to detonate that bomb first. Everything would feel so much better after that. Eric stopped as she asked. He was still holding her arms in his hands, and he was looking at her with confusion and uncertainty in his eyes. Leona knew he was worrying if he had done anything wrong. She smiled, and then printed a little kiss on his lips. “Don’t worry, you did a great job. They surely taught you how to kiss in school,” she said. Eric flushed a little, but he smiled. His eyes sparkled. Leona then went to his back, and guided him to stand facing the city with her together. She then put her hand on his shoulder. “Howl with your wolf,” she ordered. It was a gesture to call up all the wolves. Only Alpha wolf could do it. Eric blushed again. He was a sensible kid who accepted who he truly was. But it wouldn’t change the fact that he was a werewolf. And in the wolf world, being an Omega was a sin in itself. “In case you haven’t noticed yet,” he said, turning his head back a little, “I am just an Omega wolf.” Leona smiled. She knew it clearly. That was why she was doing so. “Just do it,” she said, “Trust me. You can.” Eric then nodded his head. He was a little confused but he trusted Leona’s judgment. He then took a deep breath and then looked towards the capital city which had already gone out of his eyeshot. He closed his eyes, and tried his best to gather up all his wolf power inside his body, and then, he howled furiously as Leona had ordered. It was the most powerful and intimidating howling a wolf could ever hear in its whole life. All the wolves in the capital city woke up immediately, and started to step out of their residences, heading towards the central square. It was the call from the supreme leader of the wolf world. Nobody was able to question it. And nobody dared to disobey it. Only that their current supreme leader, Leona, was a female. And that call undoubtedly came from a very powerful, but also strange male. All the wolves, especially those elders in the wolf committee, panicked as if a huge bomb had just been dropped into their backyards. Whenever another supreme wolf appeared, it meant there would be a b/loody war fighting for the throne. But now they didn’t have Leona to protect them, to fight for the kingdom anymore. If that strange wolf decided to claim the throne, who knew what would happen to them? It was like a sword hanging right upon their necks. After being dragged out of his house involuntarily, the president of the wolf committee, the old wolf, Walter, pulled out his phone and dialed Austin’s number. He needed to find out where the hell Leona was and he needed to find her now. The call was transferred directly to the voicemail. Apparently, Austin was still in his sleep as being a human, he was immune to that howling. Walter clutched the phone in his hand. If he weren’t too old, he would have cursed that indolent bastard. He thought for a second, and then quickly dialed Felix’s number. Right after Felix picked up the phone call, they both heard a huge blast. The explosion was so powerful that even the earth shook for it. They both raised their heads and looked towards the direction of that explosion. In the opposite direction of the central square, where the “art center” which Austin was so proud of located, rose a colossal plume of fire and smoke.
