Lily woke up with her body covered with checked upper shirt of Dylan, at least they were safe that she was sure of, she adjusted the shirt on herself and slowly buttoned up. There was a camp fire some meters away from her and she saw Dylan’s figure standing so close to the fire and he was doing something; his hands was in the fire and he seem really cool about it.
“What are you doing? Are you trying to hurt yourself or something?” Lily questioned immediately rising to her feet to stop whatever it is that Dylan was doing.
“Actually, it doesn’t hurt at all…fire can’t hurt me. I don’t know why-
“What better explanation is there except you are from the Fotia family, that shouldn’t be hard to understand so, will you stop playing with fire and get us something to eat?” Lily scolded and Dylan heaved softly.
“I was actually waiting for you to do that, I mean you could grow food out of the ground-
“I am not a vegetarian Dylan we’ve been on leaves and fruits diet since the mountain we need meat” Lily declared then sharply turned towards the direction of two rabbits scampering away at the tone of her voice.
“Guess we are in luck” Lily declared making twigs and weeds hold the rabbit in place, then she walked towards them and slaughtered them before making them into a kebab and leaving them on fire.
“I think that’s kind of barbaric don’t you think…you just murdered the innocents rabbit…they do look delicious with the garnishing though” Dylan swallowed his spit, his mouth watering at the sight of the meat before him, his sudden change in reaction had Lily chuckling.
“I’m worried for Princess Nina, we had a deal to meet in that apartment, she is also a known rebel since She had rebelled violently when her father king Hexus died” Dylan worried.
“I left her a massage if by chance she is to return there to find us, which she certainly is-
“Who would have thought she was also brewing her own rebellion, I can’t believe how many demons was there” Dylan muttered under her breath recalling how both her and Lily had run into Nina when they were trying to grow the plant which could cure his poison in the mountain. The Princess men had almost attacked them thinking they were there on Vera’s orders but they were also running away from her.
“She saved our lives” Dylan muttered again recalling how she had draw out her sword when one of her warriors had tried to cut him die, his wound proved they were friends and not foe since the queen had poisoned him herself.
“I have a feeling you have a crush on her” Lily’s voice had Dylan’s head immediately snapping towards her direction.
“Of course not, I love Helen alone” Dylan denied turning the stick that held the meat over the fire to have them properly evenly cooked.
“Are you sure about that?” Lily had a mischievous smile on as she stared at Dylan with an interrogating gaze.
“Of course, I love no one else but Helen-
“She’s mated now, you should move on…give someone else a chance into your heart and stop denying it” Lily phrased but Dylan decided to ignore her. He recalled Nina’s face just like he recalled Helen’s, the way she was a dominant woman, a warrior even though she was a demon. She was beautiful and elegant and unlike every other Demon that he had come across that loathe angels, she embraced their existence and make peace with it and when Lily told her the plan she was more than happy to aid in the coup they were planning. It was almost impossible to take his eyes of her but she was a demon, their union could lead to something disastrous like Vera.
“If you ever mate with her, you wouldn’t give birth to an hybrid like Vera, all your kids would be pure demons because you are 70% human, the angel gene in you is just 30% you need not to worry” Lily said as of reading his mind before taking the meat from fire and handing him a stick.
“I wasn’t thinking about that-
“You don’t have to think about it, it’s the main reason why you won’t accept you have a crush on her, being with a demon is not a taboo for lower and human angels because they ended breeding either a lower angel or a demon which are purified of the others blood but the phoenix and the upper angels are strongly discouraged in mating with demons, so an abomination like Vera wouldn’t happen” Lily lectured but Dylan refuse to give in.
“I don’t like her” Dylan insisted shoving few pieces of meat into her mouth.
“If you say so” Lily surrendered biting down on her own potion. After the two were done eating, they fell asleep as it was already late, but Dylan woke up to the sound of sword clashing. It was Nina and she was fending off the demons who had successfully tracked them to their location.
“How could you leave a camp fire burning” Nina complained flipping her violet strands mixed with extremely black hair to the back.
“We needed to keep warm through the night, it was extremely cold you know” Lily grunted rolling off the dead demon who had collapsed on her.
“Of course it was, enough to get yourself killed” Nina rolled her eyes and while Lily found her way back to her feet. Nina and Lily don’t seem to get along well base on what he had heard from Helen, claim the two didn’t start out well. She had taken her identity and hit her hard on the head, which was not a good start if they should ask anyone.
“The boy isn’t dead yet? That’s good thing” Dylan felt insulted but disregarded it and stood.
“You bring any clothes with you?” Lily spoke politely to her for the first time but that doesn’t mean Nina was going to do the same though. She threw her a bag full of handful of clothes before taking her seat on the floor and meeting Dylan’s blank eyes, Dylan looked away and decided to go back to sleep but Nina’s announcement kind of killed his action.
“We should get moving-
“I don’t think we are well rested enough to get going at the moment” Lily said behind the pile of bush she had grew around her as she changed into a black top and faded blue jeans Nina had brought for her.
“I don’t usually support Lily on a lot of things but I’m going to be supporting her on this one, we are not well rested yet to get moving right now” Dylan affirmed and Nina turned to him with a doubtful look on her face.
“I didn’t know you could talk” Dylan’s jaw dropped at her accusation, I mean how could she have thought that of him-
“Dylan isn’t one of the most quiet people I know, that much I know about him” Lily defended him again, though it came out as a surprise to him that Lily was actually defending him but he was willing to take all he could get.
“If we don’t get going right now we’ll be dead by dawn, do you think these was the only demons after you. There are tons of them and they are coming so, if you still wanna live you will stand up right now and lead the way to the princess” With that being said, Nina moved to the dying camp fire and instantly extinguished with the rest of the water she had left in her bottle. Lily let out an exasperated sigh and immediately led the way.
After walking for several hours they arrived at the closest district and Dylan went on his knees drained by exhaustion.
“We should rest for a while and continue tomorrow. We rest at night and Journey by day, the night belongs to the demons, they are faster in the shadows so we rest that way-
“Just because I said we should walk doesn’t mean we would be walking the whole time, we should try to get a proper food and catch a bus…except the princess is in the jungle or something” Lily and Dylan haven’t thought of it and was glad the idea came up except they left all the money they had on them back at the motel.
“Oh thank God” Dylan muttered on reaching his debit card. Lily heaved a heavy sigh of relief since Dylan had his credit card with him.
Actually, Dylan was the heir to a filthy rich scientist that always made sure to keep his bank account full. They entered the closest restaurant ate to their fill ad boarded a bus that was going to take them to the town located at the outskirts of Los Angeles, where the princess was.
