Episode 6- A new student

1890 Words
“Mrs. Craig” Crystal breathed out nervously as her horned teacher moved closer to her staring keenly at her. “Are you sure you’re okay Crystal? You’re the brightest student I’ve ever met but what you displayed at the board today got me a little worried; you’re sure you don’t need help? You can talk to me?” Mrs. Craig nicely urged but Crystal knew how absurd she was going to sound if she should tell her what she saw. “I’m fine Mrs. Craig…just wasn’t feeling too well…thank you for checking up on me. I’ll be heading out for biology now” Crystal finally managed to regain her composure, putting on a calmer demeanour. She walked past her teachers and right back into the hallway ready to go get her backpack and notes since she left them on the table but as she was heading back she bumped into an unlikely person that wanted to make her curse at first until the person wore a smile on his face. “You left your stuff in class and there’s you know…biology so I helped you get them,” Damian said shyly gestured her bag to her. “Thanks, Damian” She responded staring strangely at the guy who had never shown any emotions to her since 4th grade when he saved her from a rabid dog, she’d liked him since then. “Are you okay?” Damian’s question came as a surprise to Crystal, he wasn’t even sure if the guy was being serious or really worried. “Huh?” Crystal pretended not to hear what he said or probably wasn’t sure that was what he said so she decided to use the opportunity to ask him again. “I saw you in class today…you don’t look so well” Damian worried, looking up to meet Crystal’s blue eyes which he found breathtaking, and got lost in it for a moment. “I’m good…just minor issues I hope I’ll be able to deal with” Crystal simply replied entering into the biology lab together with Damian, everyone was already seated and paired remaining just the two of them. “Will the two of you catch a seat please?” Crystal’s biology teacher Miss Ray gave them a scolding look which Crystal knew it was for them coming late to class. Crystal together with Damian occupied the only available seat left together as they watch their teachers label an amphibian on the board. All through the class Crystal could feel Damian’s eyes on her which was very unusual of him and after class headed out to get herself some lunch before they head back for chemistry, but after he walked out of class the three Tees cornered her at her locker. Trace and Tyler had few bandages on them which Crystal was very proud about. “What makes you think you could intimidate Tobias?” Tyler asked hands running his long blonde hair to the back as he moved closer to Crystal. “You really miss detention that much?” Crystal’s question had the three boys frowning as they looked down the end of the hallway to see Principal Hertford with hands folded akimbo like he was waiting for them to do something stupid. “Let’s go man” Trace urged the rest of his friends and immediately they head away but the Damian appeared right next to Principal Hertford, giving her the conclusion that he must have gone to call the old man but Crystal decided to just leave instead of doing anything. On heading to the cafeteria Crystal's backpack dropped in horror. “Holy cow!” Crystal exclaimed on seeing a lot of students, teachers included appearing quite peculiar, if it’s not the eyes that’s strange, it’s the nose or the ears everything was enough to creep Crystal out but instead she took to run to the library where she was going to be given some space and given the chance to think but there she met Mrs. Craig. “This woman is literally everywhere” Crystal muttered under her breath as she found her Geometry teacher talking to the Liberian but the moment she made the statement Mrs. Craig turned to meet her eyes and she immediately run deeper into the library where she found a safe place to hide right in the middle of two adjacent shelves. Crystal sat panting softly as she held her head trying to rid herself of the images she saw, things… non-human things that have decided to be the death of her. Why was she suddenly seeing all these things?. “This is your fault Helen” She muttered repeatedly to herself. “Who is Helen?” The voice she heard made her immediately shot her head up to meet the eyes of her teacher whose gaze was now pinning her down asked as her skin started to change, Crystal was now holding her breath as she saw her skin started to build scales…her hands started to tremble and eyes started to water as she stared at her teacher in horror. “You can see me can’t you…you can see me; see me for what I truly am…what are you? You’re not my kind that I am certain of? Are you an- “Yeah, she is” The new but familiar voice to Crystal got both their attention and they immediately turn to see Helen at the end of shelves that cornered but Crystal and Mrs. Craig. “And you are?” Mrs. Craig frowned moving close to Helen in an attempt to intimidate her. “Helen, I’m Helen…or Princess Angela” Mrs. Craig eyes widened in terror, and tried to make a run for it as her eyes glowed purple but before she could growl and call the attention of other demons nearby, she hugged Mrs. Craig with her spear protruding out of her from the other side then she slowly disintegrated to a pile of ash. “You…you just killed my Geometry teacher” Crystal stuttered out nervously making Helen sigh. “She was going to kill you, it’s either you kill or be killed- “How is it possible that I’m seeing things? Why am I seeing them?” Crystal demanded from Helen staring fiercely at her. “Just like you could see me, you can also see them and they won’t stop tormenting you…you have to pretend you can’t see them. You have to be able to resist them no matter how hideous they look…look, Crystal, you are very important- “Leave me the f**k alone!” Crystal screamed at Helen feeling enraged all of a sudden. “Why me? why me!? Can’t you…can’t you just leave me alone?” Crystal stared right into Helen’s eyes but Helen understood, she understood how she must be feeling since she had also gone through the same before. “Hey young pissy” An extremely robust woman came walking into the shelve passageway with a deep frown on her face. Judging by the plentiful amount of white hair on her head it wasn’t so hard to tell she was in her early or mid-sixties. “This is a library!” The short robust woman snapped at Crystal who had just finished yelling. “Why don’t you take your personal issues outside the library?” The woman maintained her frown forcing crystal to slowly lift her bag and head out of the library but then got startled on seeing Helen outside the library. “Crystal look, I know all this is still very strange to you…I can make everything go back to normal for you…you just have to trust me” Helen was still talking when her eyes darted towards someone behind Crystal that Crystal was forced to look back but before she could make the person out Helen immediately draw her into the female’s restroom. “What the heck is wrong with you?” Crystal sounded very frustrated now, she wore her annoyance confidently and fidgeted with her fingers in nervousness. “A demon is here, he feeds off chaos…I can see it in his eyes- “What does that even mean?” Crystal questioned with a tight frown on her face. “It means he’d been killing people and if you don’t want to be on his list…you will act as neutral as you can” Helen anxiously warned getting off her cloak and diminishing her spear into nothing more than a batton with glowing edges. Crystal hadn’t noticed the backpack she had behind her until she brought it out…she pulled her hair into a ponytail and started applying her makeup. “What are you doing?” Crystal throw out her hand in cluelessness as she demanded from Helen who just pretended not to hear her then a huge guy with spikes around his chin and an enormous canine protruding from his mouth entered the bathroom. Crystal’s eyes bulged in terror but then Helen screamed. “What the f**k are you doing in a lady’s room you p*****t?” Helen screamed and yelled at the man before grabbing a few of her makeup stuff, like her hairbrush for example; then started throwing it at the man who growled then made his way out while Helen just stood staring at her with an awestruck expression. “And that’s how you deal with it” The instant switch got Crystal’s eyes to bulge in surprise because one minute Helen was wearing a petrified expression and now…she was wearing an extremely serious look. “What are you?” Crystal questioned with her face creased in a way that explains her shock and cluelessness at the same time. “As I said, an angel” Helen replied and Crystal started to laugh rubbing her eyes lazily as they started to water as an effect of her almost unstoppable laughter but she was forced to stop laughing when Helen flex her shoulders, Crystal watched with an entirely blanked expression and mixed emotions; Helen growing her wings which were as white as snow. “Angels are real…and so are the demons that have been hunting us for a while now” Helen relayed and Crystal gulped hard. Helen's brows slowly creased at the approaching footsteps, she was forced to quickly retract her wings before she started to pick the stuff that she had thrown at the demon man when he came in, Crystal knew the man came in for Helen after that. Before she could ask her any more questions, few girls made their way into the restroom chatting away cheerfully but immediately froze after they got in to see Helen picking her some of her things off the floor, Crystal immediately head out in annoyance when she heard the girls concluding she was bullying Helen. Lunchtime was over and it was chemistry left…she was extremely starving but walked her way to chemistry class anyway and thankfully the chemistry teacher was human…at least that was what she thought. Crystal reached into her brown leather backpack to bring out her books but raised her head to see Helen standing right next to principal Hertford. “Hello everyone…I want you to welcome your new classmate Helen Ruben” Oh no….Crystal muttered under her breath as she sink into her chair right before she met Helen’s eyes. ---------
