Miles P.O.V
I was on my way to work, looking forward to it, more looking forward to seeing Layla. She had been playing on mind all day. Yes, I think I may have overstepped my mark earlier with her, but I meant one thing…he should appreciate her more or maybe that is me being an ass. I was working the six P.M. to three A.M. along with Layla and two other staff members. It was opened later because it was the weekend, opens later Friday and Saturday. I parked my car, just as I did, I see Layla pull up too. I parked quickly, getting out and going to wait for her.
“Hey, fancy meeting you here.” I laughed
“I know, how strange.” She giggled “You ready for this? It is gonna be busier than it was last night.” She added.
“I am ready…” I smiled.
She nodded, the both of us heading in, the place was already busy, and it wasn’t even six. A lot of people would be here for dinner though. We headed through to the back where there was a small locker room, just with some lockers to keep our things in, a table and some chair and a fridge if we wanted to bring food with us. We could eat at the bar if we wanted too, we got it free as part of our contracts which I found good, not many places are like that.
“How was the rest of your day?” I asked as we got our coats off and put our things in our lockers.
“Not too bad, housework and relaxed. You?” She asked smiling.
“Good, done absolutely nothing.” I laughed
“Must be great…” She said rolling her eyes playfully at me.
I chuckled, shrugging “The perks of being single.” I said smirking.
She flipped me off, walking away and heading through to start her shift. I followed her, our shift starting in five minutes, letting the other staff finish. For the next hour, it was only Layla and me, the others not due in until seven to help tend the bar and clean tables.
“Keep up pretty boy,” Layla smirked at me heading to one side of the bar.
Pretty boy? I am not a pretty boy; I hate being called that. I glared at her, showing my annoyance with what she called me. She smirked and laughed, turning to serve her first customer. She has the right to annoy me I guess after what I have done to her within the last twenty-four hours. I turned to get serving too, don’t need angry people having to wait too long for their drinks. I would try my best not to get too distracted with Layla tonight, she is gonna start thinking I am a creep which I really am not.
“Hey buddy, what can I get you?” I smiled at the guy waiting to be served
“Two beers buddy.” He smiled “Is she single?” he added nodding in Layla’s directions.
“Sorry to disappoint mate, no she is not she has a boyfriend,” I said
“Well isn’t that a shame.” He said disappointed
“It is, isn’t it?” I said meeting his disappointment
“Well, I feel bad for you to mate having to work next to her, knowing you can’t have her.” He laughed.
“Says who?” I said winking before going to grab his beers.
He was smirking at me when I went back over, paying for his drinks, going to head back to his table but before he did,
“Good luck buddy.” He said heading off.
I think I was gonna need it if I did want her or I could do the more decent thing and back off, that is easier said than done though.

Layla was trying to serve a customer, but he was being a pain in the ass, trying to hit on her and saying things he really shouldn’t be to her. I could see her getting more annoyed. That guy had been causing hassle all night, not just with Layla, some of the girls as well. I was getting pissed off at him too. I decided to go over and step in.
“You have two choices here one; You order your damn drink and leave her and all the girls alone or two; I throw your f*****g ass out of here and you will be barred. She had told three times to back off, so back off.” I said firmly.
“What the f**k has it to do with you? I will do as I want.” He hissed at me.
“Cause that is my girlfriend you are harassing, and I have had enough of you tonight,” I said staring him down.
The guy started again, he was starting to get aggressive, getting in Layla’s face, trying to grab at her wrist over the bar but I stopped him, putting myself between him and Layla. I could see Layla shaking a little next to me. Yes, she can handle herself, but this guy seemed like a piece of work. I reached over, grabbing her hand and looked over the bouncers, giving them a nod. They were quick to come over, one at each side of him.
“Out, now and don’t come back,” Corey said
The jackass turned to face them, soon backing down when he saw them, they were both big guys. They escorted him out quickly.
“You OK Layla?” I asked turning to her, still holding onto her hand.
“I am now that he is gone, thank you for coming over. I can usually handle myself but there was just something about him that scared me.” She said honestly.
“I got your back, you are shaking, come here gorgeous,” I said pulling her into my chest and hugging her.
I was expecting her to hesitate to hug me back, but she hugged me back straight away, clearly needing the comfort. I kept a hold of her until she stopped shaking, stroking her hair.
“I am OK now, thank you.” She said pulling away from the hug
“As I said, I always got your back, baby girl.” I winked stroking her cheek for a second.
She smiled, nodded and kissed my cheek before we had to get back to work and act as nothing happened. Sadly, it comes with the job you always get one asshole that tries to ruin everyone’s night. I knew I was gonna be keeping a close eye on Layla for the rest of the night, just in case and making sure no one bothers her. Why can’t people just go out and enjoy their night? There is no need to cause trouble and cause arguments or fights, drink makes you that way? Don’t f*****g drink…idiots. People like that piss me off. Hopefully, the rest of the night runs more smoothly for everyone.
