Ember Moon and Howling Winds had no direct ill will or a history so terrible that it would be untenable to be mated to Helio. He was a bit pathetic and lost in the world, but he didn’t seem to be an asshole. I could have lived with it, but why would I when I didn’t have to? Why suffer being related to Queen Bridget and King Flint if there was no need to? Sure, the terms of the contract and the benefits to Howling Winds would outweigh any irritation I would feel. If that weren’t the case, Mother would have never even considered the contract at all.
