Helio’s POV The chill of the temple stone crept through my boots. I felt it putting out every bit of fire that usually burned in me. Everything in the temple seemed to be magnified. My stomach twisted in knots, and I felt like I was going to burst out of my skin. I glanced at Cole. His expression was resolute. He gave me the faintest nod. He knew the plan. Whether he thought I was crazy or not, he hadn’t said, but he didn’t look worried. Somehow, that didn’t make me feel any better. The thrumming silence of the temple felt oppressive.
