I walked back inside without so much as a thought, finding Christian sitting on a bench with his head tilted back and a tissue shoved up his nostrils. Oh, so sexy. Couldn't think of something sexier than a man with tissues shoved halfway up his nose. I didn't care if I was being a b***h. I had a reason to be one.
I stormed over to the bar and heard him call out to me.
"Hey! Mortal!" Christian's temper was amped, and I couldn't give a s**t right now.
I was angry beyond reason at what had just happened. I ignored him and it wasn't until a woman had her hand on my shoulder that I became terrified.
"Sweety, do you need a ride home?" Her voice was angelic and something in me calmed down at the immediate sound of her voice. "Are you lost?"
I whipped around and had only one question for her. They were all Alpha, Beta, and Omegas. Someone had to know who that man was.
"Who was the man that punched Christian?" I crossed my arms over my chest and watched her think for a moment with her ruby-toned plump bottom lip between her teeth.
Her hair was a gorgeous bubble gum pink and sat right above her shoulders in thick curls that she had clearly styled herself. She had a figure to die for and her personality matched her hair. She was a little shorter than me even with heels on.
"I'm sorry. My name is Evie, and you are?" She held her small hand out to me, and I took mine out to shake hers.
I didn't have time for niceties. "Can you tell me who he was?"
"Hey! Mortal! I was talking to you!" Christian's voice carried through the crowd again and made me tremble.
"And she wasn't talking to you! Stand- down before I grab your balls and crush them in my fist, Chris!" Evie cracked her neck to look over at the man that had dragged me here in the first place. Her glare and loud voice were shocking coming out of her small frame.
My eyes widened as I watched her growl and the man seemed to back down like a puppy rather than a beast. "Sorry, he can be a real ass. C'mon."
She took my hand and I followed her to a VIP room. "My name is Evie, oh wait. I said that." She giggled and suddenly became cute again. Like she had locked the ferocious beast inside again.
"You did." I awkwardly giggled because I couldn't trust her. She had just moments ago threatened a man's balls and now was being all sweet and innocent again.
"Humans don't usually come here when I buy out the joint. I didn't expect to see you." Evie giggled and bounced down into the booth. "So, your name, sweetheart?"
What was with people calling me a sweetheart? I hated it more than anything. It was so annoying. I took a deep breath and let it out.
"Amy."
"Nice to meet you, Amy, and the man you speak of is not one to go out. You got lucky tonight." Evie giggled and winked at me.
"Okay... but I'd like to know who beat the hell out of my captor?" I raised an eyebrow because I was beyond confused. What the hell was happening around me?
Evie shrugged and sat back with her arms along the back of the bench like a complete badass b***h. "Thaniel, but he doesn't come around here often. Like I said, a bit of luck was on your side, honey sugar."
"Why did he save me? He could have let me die." I really wanted to know what made him save me and then just run away. What the hell was that?
"Only he knows. I'm shocked he didn't try to get you into his bed." Evie giggled maniacally, and I raised my eyebrows at her in shock. She waved her hand at me and calmed down into soft chuckles. "I'm kidding... he only plays with Omegas. And you honey bunny are a human. Ain't no way he'll touch you. Only Christian is stupid enough to bring humans around his kind. It's forbidden."
"Forbidden?" I swallowed hard. I had no idea that there were rules.
"Oh honey... you didn't know?" Evie leaned on the table and got closer to me to whisper, "Packs don't run with humans. Especially, ours." She nodded at me, and I shivered from how her blue human eyes shifted to ice blue wolf ones and back. It was like they glowed into my soul and came back out with a harsh snap like a winter chill. "You want that, you go to Club Oasis. Not here."
"Forbidden?" The word kept repeating in my mind. I couldn't wrap my head around it.
Thaniel had gotten so close to me. Had breathed me in like I was his prey. Like something primal had taken him over and I should have run. Of course, if I had run, he probably would have chased my ass.
"Do you need those precious human ears cleaned? Ya know I don't ever have an issue with a beast when I talk." Evie scoffed and shook her head. "Forget about him."
"Where can I find him?" I didn't care about what she was saying. I had to know where he lived. I had so many questions going in my head, and they wouldn't stop.
"Did you not hear what I said? For-bid-den. Not allowed. Taboo. No. Never. Forget about Thaniel." Evie slashed her hand through the air before standing up to leave. "Let me call you a taxi."
"Thanks for nothing." I sighed and followed her outside.
"You're a bratty one, ain't ya?" Evie giggled as she called a cab for me by whistling. "Just tell him where you need to go, and he'll take ya. No fee. He's one of us." She smacked the side of the door and winked at the burly man driving it.
I got lost wondering how many people lived in this city that were actually a part of the pack. Why was it taboo to be with a pack member? Why wasn't I allowed to know where the man that saved me lived?
