“What?! What do you mean?” Lexi looked up at Ryan. He was frozen in place, his hand hovered above the door knob. He cleared his throat.
“Your room, this is your room”. Why had Lexi almost wished he would share a room? Ryan marched straight into the room and Lexi following after taking a breath. She had imagined that she'd be placed in a small room sort of like a cell but this room was nothing like a cell.
It was huge to start with, almost as big as the apartment they had just vacated. They entered a lounge area with a TV and a large ceiling to floor window that looks over some forestry; they did like their big open windows. Standing in the middle of the lounge Lexi noticed another room slightly elevated at the fair end where she could see the bottom of a large bed that is mostly hidden by the partial wall. There other room containing two doors, Lexi suspect that one had to be the bathroom.
The lounge itself had light grey sofas, they look so comfy and brand new, also a chair that faces away from the TV right next to the window, overlooking the garden and forestry, a grey lamp hung over the chair, she could see herself reading there before bed. Large purple cushions scatter the sitting area. Flowers are scattered around in vases. On the right half the wall a section is filled with books with a huge floor to ceiling mirror. The other section filled with DVDs, in alphabetic order. Lexi guessed that was to be her new life from now on; at least she had some entertainment. Cut off from the real world and thrown into world created by others.
Lexi was somewhat speechless. Her mouth opened and was sure she looked like she was catching flies. Ryan’s presence soon forgotten, she didn’t even realise that he is standing right behind her under he bent to sniff her hair. Lexi jumped in surprise and turn to face him. His eyes were black and now from the small experience she had with Ryan she knew that she was dealing with the animal not the man.
“Do you like it. If you want to change anything you can let me know”. This man just tore her heart out and now he was speaking to her like she was the most precious thing in the world. She was lost for words at his softness. May he just needed to keep her sweet so she would cooperate, didn’t he tell her that it was frowned upon for wolves to reject their mate, then again she was human, no wolf would want that, especially their leader.
Yet the Alpha seemed nervous and Lexi couldn’t help to find him cute as he eagerly awaited her reply.
“Yes. I love it, thank you. I'm surprised. I thought I'd been in some sort of prison”. He shook his head. Lexi felt his arms circle around her waist and slam her into his chest. His face disappeared into the croak of her neck. For two long seconds Lexi stood still as the contact was warm and inviting but then she remember that she was trapped by a selfish man. She struggled to get away from him. Hitting his arm while twisting her body. A huge growl vibrated the room, Lexi being pretty sure it burst her ear drum, Ryan letting her go making drop to her hands and knees.
“You don't get to touch me”. She whispered, her whole body shaking.
“You. Are. Mine”. Lexi didn’t miss the hurt in his tone.
“No I'm not”. On all fours she shook her head.
“Yes. You are. You. Are. MINE”. He roared.
Before Lexi could argue , Ryan lifted her vibrating body up, hauling her over his shoulder. Lexi didn’t know whether to be impressed at his strength, she was not exactly small, or scared. Suddenly thrown, she let out a scream landing on something soft and Ryan’s body hovered over Lexi’s.
Lexi started to freak out. She didn’t want him to touch her, Natalie would kill her if she found out, if this bound didn’t kill her first. Lexi recognises some internal conflict as Ryan’s eyes flicker between black and green. Finally green wins and the man pins her to the bed.
She wanted to scream, she was so……frustrated. This man was doing everything to part with her but did nothing to temper his urges to touch her, she was sure he would eventually kill her.
The bond. It had become a curse, they needed to break it. She would help, maybe she could finally be free. She could finally fade into the shadows and live a good quiet and free life. Yes, she would do anything to be free but that wasn’t guaranteed. Nothing was guaranteed. Wasn’t the bond supposed to make him love her, unconditionally? Yet he loved another. Natalie.
“Get off me. Isn’t Natalie waiting for you?” The sparks between them were doing strange things to her body, her n*****s mainly and she blamed her throbbing clit on them too. She had tried to sound venomous but the statement comes out weak. She was hurt. Confused. Frustrated. Cursed.
Ryan had been still for some time, his breath somewhat uneven. He finally pushed off the bed, off of Lexi, without breaking eye contact.
“Yes she is”. Lexi noticed that he sneered and left her in a shivering heap on the bed.
Night falls and there’s no visitors to Lexi’s new cell. No Tom. No Ryan. Not even any noises. It's as if Lexi had been left in a large house all alone, wasn’t that what she wanted? To be alone. She wanted to venture outside. The room was big but she’d already explored every croak and cranny. The windows didn’t open and her body craved the fresh air. Finally the events of today hit her as the adrenaline leaves, despair rushes over. This was situation was starting to feel familiar. After her mom died her….monster locked her in her bedroom. She would go days without seeing him. Some days she went without food. She was lucky that she had water from the toilet tap. When she found her room unlocked, the house was empty, cold and eerie. She shivered, that was the beginning to her time in hell. If she had known what had waited she would have tried to run then instead of waiting. Relying on love. That things would eventually change.
The lonely room was her new prison. What's worse she hadn’t committed a crime. It's all because of some moon goddess dabbling in the love of her creations. Lexi was just chosen by her but not picked by him. The one she paired Lexi with loved another. Mated another, so she was to be punished? Why was history repeating itself? She was punished for her mother’s death, yet she had not been to blame. She sighed and hugged her herself. She reassured herself, she wanted to be alone but she needed fresh air, she felt so smothered in the big room.
The moon looked to be at its highest and shone into the dark room. No other light present as Lexi tried to find peace. If only she didn’t wake up to hear those cars at the cabin, if only she stayed in bed. If only she didn’t try to help the wolf. If only she ran went she got to the City. There was a lot of 'if only’s'.
Lexi curled up in the chair facing out the window staring at the dark, creepy forest. Lexi could feel her eyes start to itch as she realised she had sat there nearly all night as the sun is starting to rise. Her body ached but she didn’t move from the spot. Hours pass but they seem to fade away unnoticed to the little human. She was trapped by a curse. Her fear of history repeating itself caused her body to shut down.
A knock of the doors doesn’t even stir Lexi from her own oblivion. A small woman enters, from Lexi’s peripheral view she could see the little woman carrying a tray and places it on the coffee table in front of the sofas. There are noises that Lexi can’t work out, words she can’t decipher. All Lexi can do is look at the stranger, she was older, maybe in her 50s, her graying hair styled short but curly with a round face and dark chocolate brown eyes, she announced she was Carole.
Lexi didn’t move. She couldn’t move. It was preparing for what was to come, what Lexi had once lived.
Lexi could hear the little woman ask why she hasn’t slept. That the Alpha mind linked her to cook breakfast and take it to this room, she didn't expect a human on this floor. Although she couldn’t understand why Lexi was locked in. A tear ran down her face, truth be told, Lexi hadn’t even checked the door out of fear that she was an actual prisoner and she wasn’t exaggerating. The little woman had confirmed her fear.
Carole had been the cook in the pack since Ryan’s father was Alpha. Although she didn’t look a day over 50 as the 72 year old pottered in the room. Ryan had once mistakenly asked Carole to rest and even handed some young wolves for her to train but she refused to hand over her kitchen. Lexi could feel the fury rising as she didn’t even acknowledge that Carole that was in the room. She just sat there like a marble statute. Unable to talk even though she desperately wanted too. Unable to even make eye contact or look at the food. Lexi was in pain, an aching pain that sucked out all her energy.
A loud growl escapes Carole’s lips, yet the routine continued, morning evening and night, for a few days, yet time was nothing to Lexi.
Thirst. Lexi’s whole body craved a drink. She tried to move from my bed to reach the bottled water on the coffee table but her legs don’t move, not even when she tries to tell them out loud to get of the bed. There is just pain. Lexi’s lack of movement and loss of appetite meant her muscles lost all energy. Lexi couldn’t even call out, not that she thought anyone would hear her. She so desperately want the water.
Thoughts of elaborate ways to get the water ran though her mind. She started to give up through exhaustion; maybe if she slept she would feel better. Give her more energy. Yes. She decided to sleep. The pillows were soft but all she could concentrate was on her dry mouth. Lexi closed her eyes and visions of a past monster plagued her mind. She was no longer free; her friend did not save her. She was in her childhood room, it was a lilac colour, the sheets on her bed smelled stale, and they hadn’t been washed for months. She was weak, the monster was starving her. Although she preferred the starving to the beatings she had started to receive from her monster, it didn’t subdue the pain. She tried to struggle, to break free. She had even tried to beg.
Nothing worked, so she let in the darkness.
