Chapter Six- Angels and Demons

I now understood what he had wanted in a girl, even if he denied ever wanting marriage. I could see in his eyes that it was something he would miss out on-as if watching your friends ride upon a roller coaster while you stayed on the ground. But then again, I didn’t necessarily want marriage either-perhaps we could just have a bit of fun together without commitment. But I also wanted that from him-I wanted him to need me as I fell I needed him. I know I must sound crazy by now, I hardly know him-I’ve hardly spoken to him...but the spark present between us can light a wet match. I just know he felt it too.” “Miss Sacramon?” The teacher asked me as I stood up as I was addressed. Usually, I would have stayed sitting upon the chair and rolling my eyes or even flipping the bird-but I had to think of what I wanted more. “Yes sister?” I asked as she raised her brows, surprised by me. “Can you recite the ten commandments?” Luckily, this was one I knew and so I began counting them on my fingers as I began how I remembered them from when my parents drug me to church. “Thou shall not steal, thou shall not kill, there is only one God, no false, honor your mother and father, do not covet your neighbor’s wife, do not bear false witness against your neighbor, do not take the lord’s name in vein, keep holy the sabbath day, do not commit adultery, and…” I struggled for a second, suddenly forgetting what the final one had been. “Oh! You shall not covet your neighbor’s belongings.” “Very good. You may sit.” I smiled to myself, feeling a sensation I never had before. It was the kind given when you get a perfect score on a pop quiz or give the perfect comeback to someone who deserves it. I believe this is what being a good student felt like, and I could definitely get used to this if I had to. The rest of the class had been rather uninteresting as the teacher spoke of different saints, their purposes, and the important dates within their lives or what they are remembered for. All the while, I found myself daydreaming about Gabriele. I could envision him standing behind me, staring down at me as if waiting for me to make a move. He would walk beside me and pivot my hips so they faced him. With the crescent shaped desk, I would relax my arm, until finally watching him kneel before me. His haunting gaze would linger on mine as he kissed lip lips softly and began to trace his fingers closer and closer to my core. He would set his touch to gently part my legs as everyone else seemed ignorant to this moment. His lips would then drop to my leg as he would pull my skirt up as he removed my panties that he then let drop directly to the floor. I felt my cheeks blush at this before watching his head dip beneath my waist and enter between my legs. Unfortunately for me, I had given myself such a vivid imagination, that it leaked to real time as I had let out a moan as my eyes were closed and my head was set back. When I opened them, I found all eyes to be set on me as I was embarrassed at this moment. What was I to say? I had a sexy fantasy? I’m sure there wouldn’t be enough rulers in the school to strike me for that one. “I believe the holy spirit has gone through me.” I spoke quickly as the nun smirked and nodded. “Very well.” She then continued on with her class as I emerged still covered with the shame of my vivid fantasy. I couldn’t even look at Gabriele in the eye for some time as I was worried my thoughts would read clear across my face. I knew I wasn’t being subtle when it came to him, but I at least wanted to be classy and hard to get for him. As my mother always told me, a traveller will always eat what it sees in its pathway, but the apple farthest from the others is always the sweetest. I remembered this in particular when it came to Gabriele as I knew there would be others who would throw themselves at him, I just had to be the top contender. I had managed to return to my numbered bed before finding the receptionist I met on the first day to tell me I had a phone call. I rushed to the front desk and answered as it had been my mother. We spoke of the weather and my adjustment to this place as I neglected to notice my feelings for all of the staff members. I simply remained vague and explained to her that I felt as though I could learn a lot and that I actually thanked them for being here. She then commented that my sarcasm was getting annoying and I confessed I was genuine as she was pleasantly surprised. I smiled before telling her I loved her and hanging up the phone. It had only been a matter of moments before I then found myself crossing the threshold of my room once more. I had noticed that the others around me seemed to be whispering upon themselves and hiding something behind their knee high stockings and horrible poker faces. With the thoughts present on my mind, I didn’t even care to ask as I made my way back to my belongings and found them to turn from me and seemingly bend over something. I then pulled my Holy Bible to view in hopes of studying it enough to impress teachers and students alike. At that same moment, I found Tessa to be standing outside of my room. She was motioning me but placing her finger before her lips to tell me to remain silent as I ventured passed the suspicious girls before then meeting up with my only friend within this boarding school. “How is it in there?” “Weird...they are all acting like I’m this w***e or something-” I paused. “Maybe a week ago, but not now.” “What changed?” I paused, wanting to confess to her my desires for the priest, but knowing nothing good would come of it. I remained silent on the subject and instead, came up with something else that would make sense. “I figure I should make the best of it while I’m here…” “That’s right! I know we don’t exactly have Mary Jane or anything-” I raised my eyebrows, surprised she even knew a street name for that, as I continued to listen. “But it’s not as bad as everyone thinks...in fact…” She paused and lowered her voice to confide something in me. “There is an all boy’s school across the wall just behind the girl’s hall where we are in right now.” “Really?” I pretended not to know. She nodded. “My boyfriend is over there…” “Your boyfriend?” I looked to her with surprise. She nodded. “We both got shipped off to different ones, at least we thought-and then we find out we are that close!” “Do you mean you weren’t brought here because you grew up in it?” “Not exactly. My mom is purely Catholic...but my dad doesn’t really believe in anything. She begged him to make me go here and after I was caught having s*x-” I gasped, startling her as she pressed her hand over her heart. “I’m sorry-” I said with a chuckle. “I just find it hard to believe you do anything outside of the book.” I motioned towards the Bible as I still held it within my grasp. “I’m not as pure and polite as everyone thinks, you know...I just didn’t want you to rat on me...but I see, you’re good.” I nodded. “Same for you, you could have ratted on me-” “No. I feel like you are the only person here I really can talk to. Everyone else’s parents are rich enough to get them out of anything if they make a big enough donation to the church. But-” “I got ya.” I stopped her before confessing what I didn’t want to be reminded of in regards to my family. She sensed this and dropped the topic before changing the subject. “Once a week, the boys and girls all meet at the cellar of the boy’s place as it has this thick lock. We get together and drink, hook-up...it’s...a lot of fun...Plus, I would love for you to meet my boyfriend!” “Okay, when is this next one?” “It’s every Sunday night, after curfew. We all take the path outside the gate-I’ll meet you over this wall…” She motioned to the area behind this building we were standing in. “I swear you won’t think we are all square after that.” “You’re at least a rhombus.” I teased as she playfully stuck her tongue out at me. We then parted until agreeing to meet and sit together at dinner as I entered the room. From the minute I passed the threshold, I could feel something amiss as all of the girls were looking at the door. However, as I pushed forward and continued through, I found there to be a warm sticky substance to cover my entire body. My mouth came agape as I could smell the most unpleasant scent that accompanied this liquid, that with the color had told me this was blood.
