Chapter 1

Oakley West was sitting at the centre of the bar, her short sequin dress hugging her curvy body. She knew she had eyes on her and her best dress but she was not phased. The sequin’s changed colours as the night club’s lights flashed over them. She was sitting on a bar stool, her one leg crossed over the other, thus making her upper thigh the highlight of some men’s night. Perhaps some girl’s too. She was sitting at the bar, a drink in the hand and having a good talk with her bartender, Liv. The two girls were having a laughter until Oakley’s body betrayed her as she was acting of oblivious looks of strange men when the hair at the back of her neck started to rise as she feels eyes boring into her. She innocently tucks a strand of her dark straight hair, that hung just past her shoulders, behind a ear, looking into the direction of the eyes she felt on her and there sat the most handsome man she ever saw, looking at her. Oakley’s breath hitched in her throat as she gives him and the perky girl on his lap a once over look before turning back to Liv. “Livvy, what time do you get off? You’ve been working since this morning.” She pouts at her friend. Liv huffs, looking down at her watch to see it’s only nine pm and she gets off at ten. “Well just one more hour!” she says half-excitedly. Oakley smiles at her hard working friend, “Then let me make it a good hour!” she said excitedly. “Order some shots.” Oakley winks at Liv. “On it” Liv says and turns around, grabbing shot glasses and her best friend’s favourite alcohol shot, TEQUILA. Oakley and Liv both downed three shots each before Liv went off, helping the rest of the customers as Oakley silently sat and drank her whiskey again while being on her phone. After a few minutes, a smiling Liv came over with a pink cocktail drink and put it in front of Oakley. Oakley travelled her eyes over the drink and back to Liv “What is this?” she croaks out in disgust “The man over there bought it for you and said I should tell you that ‘This is more of a lady like drink’ with a wink but I am not going to wink at you.” Liv laughed and Oakley turned to the man, it’s the same man she met eyes with, the man firstly stared at her with his girlfriend on his lap and now he’s buying her yucky drinks when his girlfriend is gone. Disgusting! He’s such a pig. “I’m going to the bathroom” Oakley said, picking up her phone, purse and the pink drink. Oakley walked over to the smirking man and put it right in front of him. He was smirking so much, it almost turned into a smile because he thought he caught the attention of the lady at the bar who didn’t look at any man in there. “Hi” Oakley said in the sweetest angelic voice he has ever heard, he smiled at her “Hey” he said, he was going to reach for the stool that he as a gentleman was going to pull out for her to sit on, but his smirk faded as she scolded him “If you think this is much more of a lady like drink, why don’t you give it to your girlfriend to drink, or better yet. Drink it yourself since you’re such a p***y for wanting to cheat on your girlfriend!” With that, Oakley turned on her heel, leaving the drink in front of him and left towards the bathroom to go fix her make up. The man, Nathaniel Hart, was dumb founded as the girl walked away. No girl has ever turned down a drink from the multi billionaire himself. He found it challenging and he liked it. He called over the bartender,Liv. “Mr. Hart, what can I do for you?” She bats her eyelashes at him. “Who’s that girl that rejected my drink?” He sits forward, his head resting in his palm. From the outside scene, it looked as if they were flirting in the manner in which they huddled up, whispering but the cold truth was, they just couldn’t hear each other over the loud music. As they talked, Oakley walked out of the bathroom, seeing the scene she was put off from her night and wrote her friend a text “I’m going home, see you. Xx” and she left the building. Back at the bar, Liv felt her phone vibrate in her pocked and thought it was important. “The girl? She’s my friend.” Liv smiled at Mr. Hart as she pulled her phone from her ass pocket. “And her name?” He asks, smiling at Liv. “Oh uhm…” Liv stalls, looking down at her phone. Mr Hart had little patience and reached out to Liv, lowering her phone but the name and message on it got his attention. “Oakley West- I’m going home, see you. XX” was all that he read and he looked back up at a sour looking Liv “Nevermind, not important. You do a great job but no phones on the job.” He winks before turning away. Liv stood baffled, how could she, a pretty bartender with a hot body and pretty face, be ignored my the Mr. Hart? And how could Oakley interest him at all! She didn’t even recognise him. This was ridiculous! She thought as she aggressively wiped the counter and cleaned the glasses. Oakley was rude and he still asked for her name. Jealousy overtook Liv and she was snarky with the customers as she thought of Mr. Hart now knowing Oakley’s name. Was he going to look for her? Mean while Oakley was sitting on the edge of the bathtub in a robe. She was removing the mascara she put on while she run herself a warm bubble bath. This ought to relax her body, she thought. Oakley laid back in the bath, scrolling about her social media when a knock on the door appeared. She looked at the time and it was precisely ten pm, Liv couldn’t have gotten home this fast and she has her own keys. Oakley groaned as she aggressively got out of the bathtub, putting on her robe and head to the front door, leaving wet foot prints all over the place. She peeked through the hole and saw it was that man! Did he follow her home? No, she would’ve seen someone following her home, Oakley is a very observant driver, especially at night. Maybe if she doesn’t make a sound he will go away, she thought. The man knocked again “I know you’re in here.” He said, he sounded sincere but she was no fool. “I saw your text on your friend’s phone, come on. I just want to explain myself.” He said and Oakley’s temper got the best of her. She opened the door viciously “Don’t pest me, go home. You’re such a pig to cheat on your girlfriend!” She bellowed but he kept quiet, he waited for her rant to be over. “Are you done miss West?” He asks, standing up straight in his very handsome suite and loosen black button up shirt with his well mannered hands behind the back pose. “Yes” she said through gritted teeth while aggressively glaring at the strange man. “I am Nate and I do not have a girlfriend. Thus you could lay off the ‘cheating’ title from my name. I would like to get to know you better, how about breakfast or lunch sometime?” He offers but she stood her ground, c*****g an eyebrow at him.
