Chapter 5:
Randell hated leaving the heavy lifting to Kennedy, but her argument made sense. A single invisible individual moving quickly through the city had a much better chance of reaching the final destination. Besides, his memories of the visit to Spectacle Island were hazy. He distinctly remembered the people that lived there didn’t like visitors. Every time he considered returning to the manmade island, he grew nauseated, like his last meal would find its way back up. Better to let Kennedy handle the cube. Randell would do his best to keep Gimcrack safe while he fixed the program to stop the bugs.
Alleye hadn’t driven far before Randell questioned Kennedy’s safety traveling alone. Traffic was nonexistent. The few cars on the road had crashed, the drivers passed out behind the wheel
