Chapter Ten – Trusting You.
“It’s okay Sienna, it is just a few bumps, nothing to worry about.” Kris attempted to reassure the terrified beauty beside him.
He could not deny he loved the feel of her hand in his, his body instantly reacting in the most uncomfortable, yet pleasurable way.
“Come on, your turn to ask me a question.” He urged her, attempting once more to take her mind off the turbulence.
Sienna let out a long breath, with a small squeal at the end when the plane bumped harder than before.
“Question.” Kris continued, determined to have her continue their game, and not just because she was terrified, but because he was enjoying getting to know her. Although the question about her change of favourite colour bothered him somewhat. But, he would leave that for now. They still had nine hours of this flight left. Then she would be gone, and he really did not want to think about that little fact either. Especially the eight-and-a-half-hour flight from Texas to Hawaii with only his security team for company.
“Why do you wear your orange cap?” Sienna asked.
“I am wearing a black one today,” Kris chuckled.
“Yes, but that is because you want to stay under the radar, so to speak,” Sienna quipped at him.
Kris chuckled, she had known him only an hour and a half, and she had already worked out the reason for the change in his cap colour and the way he was wearing it.
“I played football in college, not the English soccer game, but American football for the ‘Tigers’. To be honest, I was not very good, but had, as the coach put it, 'played with a lot of heart', which translated as I was utter crap, but was enthusiastic enough to make the team. I spent most games on the bench as a substitute for the substitute. Anyway, one game, the player and the substitute got injured, so I was up. I headed onto the field, and our QB at the time, who made it to the NFL, threw me the ball, and for once I caught it without fumbling. I was only ten yards from the end zone, and ran like hell, doing a pirouette to avoid one of the defensive players, and scored a touchdown. The only one I have ever scored in my life, and it won us the game. The coach was so ecstatic he gave me his own Cap. I wore it all the time, as a reminder that I had actually managed to score. When I had my big break, every year my old coach sent me a new Tigers hat. He still does, and it serves as a reminder of who I am as a person. As, just like that day, my success boils down to luck and being in the right place at the right time. It helps keep me grounded, rather than believing in all the bullshit that comes with fame and my job.” Kris smiled at her.
“Wow, that is amazing, why have I not read that about you?” She wondered out loud.
“Because not many people know the reason why I wear it. Only those closest to me, so the press has never found out, although many have asked. But it is something personal, so you are trusted with that little nugget of information.” Kris smiled.
He did not know why, and was probably making a massive mistake, but something inside him trusted Sienna, it made no sense to him, but he just did.
“I think that it is a really good thing to keep something to remind you of who you are. There is more to you than just a pretty face.” Sienna giggled at him.
Kris tilted his head back and let out a bellow of laughter. She was funny in all the right ways.
“Your turn.” Sienna said, relaxing back into her seat, the turbulence no longer bothering her to the degree it had. There was just something about Kristofer Gilbert, which made her feel comfortable. But still the question remained, why would the beautiful and extremely talented Presley Wade, Grammy winner, and pop princess with more hits under her belt than Sienna had knickers, say that he had cheated on her, and why would he finish his relationship with the stunning and successful woman?
“Hmm, let me think. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would that be and why?” Kris asked.
“Easy, I have always wanted to travel to Hong Kong. I read Nobel House by James Clavell years ago, and have always dreamed of visiting Aberdeen harbour since then.” Sienna smiled.
“Yeah, Hong Kong is cool. I went to a premiere there once. I wasn’t there long, but still managed to have a day looking around the island. I had a custom-made suit from one of the tailors there. They did it in just 24 hours, and the quality was as good as any brand designer's.”
“Wow, you are so blessed to be able to see the world.” Sienna sighed. She had always had a dream to travel, visit exotic places. However, with finances stretched whilst she had to pay for Kev's keep, it had not been possible. Still, now she was rid of him, maybe she could save up and visit some places on her bucket list.
“Most of the time you are in and out when promoting a film. You spend days in a hotel room, doing press junkets, interviewer after interviewer asking the same questions on repeat.” Kris sighed.
“But yes, I am blessed, as you put it. Because I have the freedom to go anywhere in the world for a break. Well, me and normally a team of security, and the Paparazzi following my every move.” Kris shrugged.
“Who’s turn, is it?” Kris asked.
“Yours, I think.” Sienna flashed him a genuine smile.
The sight of her genuine smile made his heart constrict. She was jaw-dropping beautiful.
The turbulence had stopped, yet still he held her hand, and she had not yet let go, so until she did, he was going to keep tight hold of her.
“No, actually it is yours.” Kris grinned.
“Okay, can I ask a personal question?” Sienna softly asked, not sure if she was about to overstep.
“Go for it. I can always pass if I need to.” Kris nodded his head.
“Okay, well, erm… If you didn’t cheat on Presley, why did your relationship end? I mean the woman is gorgeous and talented, I just cannot fathom why you would not hold on to her with all your might.” Sienna asked, blushing slightly at how personal her question was, and hoping he wasn’t offended.
Kris looked at her. Sienna may think Presley was stunning, but she paled into insignificance in comparison to her. He took a deep breath, then looked around the plane.
“You are not a journo are you?” he asked, looking deep in her eyes.
“No, I work as a business development manager, for companies in the Chambers of Commerce, flogging them advertising space in the chamber's magazines, or on their website and social media accounts.” Sienna told him honestly.
He was confused, why did he trust this girl beside him, a total stranger, yet he felt deep in his soul he knew her and she would never sell him out. He was well away that way of thinking was dangerous for him, but for some reason he could not fathom he trusted his gut. Kris decided to take the risk. After all, even if she was tricking him, at least his side of the story would get released, and maybe the world and its mother would get off his back.
“Okay, so I will make a deal with you. I will tell you the truth about this. You will tell me the reason why you changed your favourite colour."
“s**t, my reason may involve me shedding tears.” She whispered.
Kris nodded, his understanding, and gently squeezed her hand for reassurance.
“It is up to you, no pressure, and if your tears do fall, there is no judgment from me.” He whispered softly to her.
“Okay. Deal.” Sienna nodded.
“It was great at first, then three months in, Presley became insanely jealous. She hated the fact that I spent time with fans, signing autographs. She even accused me of getting the girls' numbers when I was chatting to them. If we were out together, she would complain I had spent too long in the rest room, accusing me of taking a fan in there. It was crazy. Her screaming fits soon turned nasty, and let’s just say, it was not me trashing those rooms, even though I got the blame in the press. After the incident at the Ritz, I was done with it all. I was, and still am, fed up with drowning myself in Vodka, just to get through the day. Or going to clubs and getting wasted to avoid spending time with her. I was losing myself, slowly but surely. I just couldn't take it anymore. However, I have realised over the past few days, that I was partly to blame. I kept the relationship going, even though I knew she was not for me. Before you ask why, it was a stupid decision, because I did not want to be in the press for another failed relationship. I did not do either of us any favours.” Kris said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Sienna searched his caramel eyes, seeing nothing but truth in them, and the wall that she had built around her cracked a little bit more. Kristofer Gilbert was not what he was made out to be in the gutter press, of that, she would bet her last penny on.
“I am sorry you went through that, and also sorry I judged you without knowing you.” Sienna said, meaning every word.
“It is okay, most people will judge me. It comes with the territory.” Kris shrugged, then offered her a smile. It instantly had her n*****s poking the constraints of her strapless bra, and she wondered if she could pretend she was cold, because the top she was wearing did not hide her obvious arousal for this man.
Kris could not help to notice how her n*****s had hardened under her top, and the half chub he had been sporting went as hard as steel once more. Tearing his eyes away from her chest, he looked back up, to see the delicious blush on her pale cheeks, making his predicament even worse.
“I think it is a bit cold. I may ask for a blanket.” Sienna said in a rush of embarrassment.
“Hmm, well, you can blame the cold, but I am afraid that excuse doesn’t work for my predicament.” Kris chuckled slightly, nodding his head down to his lap.
Sienna stole a glance as to where he was indicating and let out an audible gasp. Hell, he was right, judging by the size of the bulge in his denims, he really had not worn a p***s extension for his naked shower scene in ‘Crazy Cops.’ The heat in her cheeks intensified, as she tore her gaze away.
Biting her bottom lip, she let out a small giggle.
“Oops.” She said, the giggle turning to laughter.
Kris smirked, as he lent forward, and pulled out his blanket from under his seat, before reaching under Sienna’s and retrieving hers. Opening the plastic bag, he gently placed the blanket over her, before using his to cover his own arousal. His hand gently stroking her side boob, making her squirm slightly in her seat, as she felt intense tingles wash through her body.
“So, I told you mine, now you tell me yours.” He softly whispered to her.
Sienna blew out a long breath, closing her eyes, shaking her head slightly, tears already forming in her eyes.
“I was engaged, we had been together from the tender age of 16. He was my first everything, and even though we were going through a tough spot, I was still prepared to go through with the wedding. That was until I caught him in my bed with my best friend. She was going to be my bridesmaid, and her dress was going to be my favourite colour, dusky pink. We had planned our weddings together even as little girls, daydreaming of the day we got married, whilst wearing net curtains on our heads. Now, I literally hate the colour as it reminds me that I was a fool. That day I lost a fiancé, although come to think about it, I lost nothing there, but also my best friend since I was four years old.” Sienna said, swallowing the lump in her throat, and blinking back the tears that stung her eyes.
“f**k Sienna, that sucks. s**t, all I can say is that guy is an i***t. How anyone could even think of cheating on you is beyond me. You are the most naturally beautiful woman I have ever seen. Trust me, I am not just saying that to make you feel better, what is going on under this blanket is all the proof you need.” Kris whispered to her, holding her gaze with his, making Sienna heat up, but not from embarrassment but from the undoubted need that was pulsing through her vein’s that was begging her to do something rash, and stupid, right here, right now.
