The Heart of The Pack

POV Ashley

Rushing through all the paperwork I found in Zans office and piece of paper falls out of the stack. An invitation for an Alpha’s meeting, damn that big ball of muscle is useless sometimes. I call the number and book our rooms, we’re going to be late. ‘Zan come get ready we have to go to an Alpha’s meeting, you forgot to tell me again.’

I quickly pack for us both and wait in the car, he climbs in looking handsome taking up the entire car. He is massive 7 foot tall and the biggest muscles I’ve ever seen, the day we met I was practically drooling. The moon goddess knew what she was doing when pairing us, Zan looks at me while I adjust his tie. His hair pitch black gelled on the sides, the top sweeping to one side. His blue eyes look into me hungrily. I can’t keep up with this man’s libido, we’ve already had s*x 3 times today and it’s not even noon.

Arriving at the pack of our allies, we get out hoping we haven’t missed the meeting. I quickly check my hair and makeup in the mirror my blonde hair wavy sitting on my shoulders and my light pink eye shadow matches my eye colour.

“Alpha, Luna welcome to my pack. I’m alpha Edward and this is my Luna Emily. And our eldest pup Luca the future Alpha. Please come inside and eat the meeting will soon start.”

“its lovely to meet you all in person, sorry we’re late we seemed to have misplaced the invitation.” Stepping into their home, it’s like this whole place is coated in fresh flowers and fruit but I can’t see either of those things.

“Smells nice in here” Zans deep husky voice booms out, and he is right, it feels homey. We manage to get food and when we’re all about to head in for the meeting, that scent gets stronger the flowers and fruit and my wolf ally is acting funny. I know this feeling what the heck is going on, when this little thing steps out from behind Alpha Edward. Oh sh*t, zan looks at me confused he feels it to. We excuse ourselves quickly, not even paying attention to the words around us. Sitting through the meeting, I find it hard to focus. Even through dinner, I just don’t know how this is possible.

Zan and I jump in bed hours later and as usual he passes out cold and quick. Damn men, how do they do that, I can’t get those teary mismatched eyes out of my head. After two hours of trying to sleep I give up and make my way down to the main floor and look around for the kitchen. And when I finally find it, it’s not empty she’s here oh sh*t she’s here. “Can’t sleep?” she jumps at my voice and turns.

“Uh yea, I just came down to make a hot chocolate. You want one?” she won’t even meet my eyes as she talks. But her voice is so buttery like velvet I get goosebumps.

“yes please” I say and she turns and reaches up for another mug. Gosh she’s so cute, she turns back and places the mug out for me, full of steaming liquid. She takes hers and sits on the counter in the far corner. After I grab my cup I look at her again and she’s just staring at her hot chocolate and a tear falls down her cheek. Goddess I can’t take this, grabbing my mug I walk over to her slowly and reach out. I wipe her tear away “please don’t cry, I know this situation is strange. It is for all of us, but it hurts me and zan seeing you cry.”

She looks in my eyes and I can see more tears threatening to fall “I’ll try.” She whispers and sips her hot chocolate. I lean back on the counter next to her, sipping my cup while relishing in the tingles I felt on my fingers as I wiped her cheek. “how could the moon goddess think this was a good idea, the three of us. How does that even work, you’re already alpha and Luna where do I fit. And wolves are naturally jealous and territorial creatures, I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes.” She rants and sighs when she’s done.

I stop drinking and put my cup down turning to her again this time right in front of her. I get close and put my hands on her knees, “ I don’t know how or why this happened. But the moon goddess always has a plan. She must see something that we don’t, but we will figure something out. And yea wolves are all those things but this is different, even though I know you’re mated to zan it doesn’t bother me because, we’ll I’m mated to you too. So don’t worry about stepping on toes, we just need to figure out what to do about this bump in the road, ok?”

She hops down and moves away from me, I want to reach out to touch her again. “Yea let me know when you decide on what to do about me” and with that she ran away from me.

‘Good job pushing away our mate’ Ally my wolf, snaps at me

‘What, I didn’t, I was trying to comfort her’ I run after her to find her balling her eyes out in front of Zan. His eyes concerned and angry, I go to reach out for her hoping that between us we can calm her, but she pushes Zan away.

“stop touching me!” she yells and bolts down to her room, slamming the door.

Alexander POV

The meeting went on forever and I couldn’t get that little red head of my brain. Ashley is tall and stunning like a model but my little red head is small with great curves and a nice rack. They’re both gorgeous, what the heck kind of alpha gets two Lunas, sh*t I’m not going to complain. Once the meeting is over, dinner is served and our little cutie wasn’t here for it. Damn I was hoping to get a good look at her again.

Alpha Edward walks us to our room because it’s on the alpha floor, apparently they ran out of guest rooms. He stops and knocks on a door, and when he opens it I can’t breath. There she is looking stunning in a little pair of shorts and a baggy jumper that hangs off one of her shoulders. But as edible as she looks I can’t get past the red rings around her eyes and the tears in them. No wonder she wasn’t at dinner, she’s been up here crying. The sight makes me want to step forward and comfort her to hold her. Alpha Edward asks her which room is ours and she shuts the door, he then leads us to our room. Once Ashley and I are alone in our room I can’t help it I start pacing.

“What are we going to do ash?”

“no idea Zan, I’ve never heard of this before how can the three of us be mates.”

“goddess did you see her eyes? she’s been up here crying all afternoon” I keep pacing.

“I know, I love you zan but in that moment I just wanted to run to her and wipe her eyes.” Ash sits on the bed holding her head.

“Me to Ash, f*ck” I sit down with her and even though we’re mates something has always felt missing, and now we know why. “did you catch her name?” I look hopeful at her.

“Yea I heard alpha Edward call her, Amara. She’s, wow and I’ve never been into women but goddess she’s beautiful. And her two different coloured eyes ugh so freaking cute.”

“Amara, hmm I like it. I didn’t want to say anything and risk you getting jealous but she’s delicious.” Ash looks at me and laughs at my comment.

“You know what I’m not jealous, she is our mate and my wolf want and I her just as much as you do” she laughs then goes serious again. “she looked so sad, it hurts Zan.”

I pull ash into my arms “I know baby, it hurts me too. Come on let’s sleep on it yea see if we can figure something out in the morning.” I pass out holding onto Ash and hours later I wake up realising she’s not here. Deciding to look for ash i walk the halls and my little Amara runs straight into me. She feels so little in my arms I want to crush her in a bear hug to stop her tears but she yelled and ran. It broke me a little, our mate doesn’t want us to touch her, “what the hell did you say Ash?”

“I..I was just trying to comfort her. She must of taken something I said the wrong way, oh goddess I made her cry didn’t I” at her own words Ash starts to tear up. Walking over wrapping her in a bear hug, I rub circles on her back“ I’m sorry Zan I didn’t mean to upset her really.”

“I know baby, come on back to bed. All we can hope for is that she accepts us and that we haven’t ruined anything.” I lead her to our room.

“you think she might reject us?” we get into the room and I pull her back to bed.

“All I know right now is our mate is sad and doesn’t want us to touch her. I know my wolf doesn’t say much, but he is whining in my head right now. All he wants is to hold you both, with no more tears. Come on let’s get back to sleep and figure all this out in the morning.”
