When the marital counseling session ended almost an hour later, they exited the wood-framed church. The sun had started its descent. Pad held the door open for RJ who had lagged behind to go to the john. As RJ pressed against him, Pad spoke. “We got an hour before sunset so do you want to eat around here off restaurant row or head home?” “Let’s go home. I’m tired as hell. And this marital counseling session, I hope, is the end of it.” “It’s supposed to be.” “How’d I do?” “Fine.” Their feet crunched the gravel as they approached Pad’s Toyota.
