Sapphire’s Point of View
I could see the desperation in Alpha Sif's eyes. Hopefully, he expected I should call down some hailstone on the traitor or probably detect where the traitor could be or who the traitor is at least.
Was he going to let me out or not? My thoughts kept wondering.
While still regurgitating, I shivered in desperation as to my next line of action. It is possible that Bridget noticed my fears, though worried and, in a bid to calm my nerves, she tapped and petted my back, which resulted in a friendly hug between us.
She was also scared to her marrow as to her mum's life and wellbeing and was almost in a pull of tears. I could tell she was acting all strong, stronger than what could be imagined for a teen. Had she been through harder situations than this? I bet you no, because from my observations, she looked more like a bread and butter kid. Thus, my reason for applauding her level of maturity, seriously, was commendable.
Alpha Sif had accompanied us to the Pack's hospital to get the latest information about my aunty. He held us closely while muttering some encouraging words to us in the facility.
We sat at the Pack's outpatient unit where there were some columns of aluminum-like benches arranged in orderly rows and in the column. Opposite us was the reception, which also served as the nurses' cubicle. A television was hung on the wall for the ease of visitors while waiting for their loved one to be attended to. Still hung on the wall was a wall clock, health calendars, cards with health inscriptions and charts.
The receptionist would check or enter the data of any patient or relative before directing the patient or client to a nurse who would in turn assess their vital signs; that is, their normal body parameters to ascertain any deviation from normal, before finally directing the patient to the doctor who finally decides on their line of treatment.
The little time we spent there made me realize the importance of health and be thankful whenever our health is in good conditions.
“Good day your majesty." With a bow or genuflex, were the usual salutations accrued to Alpha Sif as the Alpha as the Pack.
Many were equally startled to come in contact with him in the Pack's health facility. But Alpha Sif wouldn't let them know that Auntie Becky, the Pack's witch, was ill. It may lead to some moments of choas and uncertainty among the Pack's members.
Soon, an orderly, came in to call us into the ward my Aunty was laid. Over there was the Pack's Doctor and a Nurse already waiting to brief us on the foregoing.
“This way please,” she pointed, as we followed accordingly.
“Your Majesty, you are here finally,” he bowed and ushered us before Aunty Becky, who had already awakened while anticipating our presence.
She was in a pretty bad state. Like gosh, just moments ago, and she's this deteriorated? My tears as of now had already begun flowing freely alongside Bridget. She could not contend her fears, hence was ushered out to wait with one of the enforcers.
I was about to hold onto her hand but was warned sternly to desist from that due to it's health implications as anyone who carried out a procedure on her did so with double gloves to create a barrier.
“Your Majesty,” she greeted, trying hard to utter coherent words to our hearing.
She looked at me with a sense of compassion with forced out tears from her eyes.
Was she regretting her actions of letting me in into the Pack, I couldn't help but wonder as I was the cause of her current predicament.
“I'm so sorry auntie Becky, it's all my fault that you're going through this,” I sobbed.
“Sapphire, I'm equally sorry, that I have let you down, I shouldn't have let down my guards so easily, thus exposing you to the furry of the enemies" She explained.
All this while, Alpha Sif stood indifferent and expressionless. He never uttered a word, but I knew he was moved by her prognosis.
She further added, “take good care of yourself and also Bridget. She's your sister now and best friend, always protect each other's interest” as I nodded.
After which she called the attention of Alpha Sif.
“Your majesty, it's obvious I may not make it alive,” She snapped.
“I forbid you to say that,” he rebuked.
“You carry mystical powers, and miracles still happens. You'll surely recover from this.” He assured.
She nodded in affirmation, and further alerted Alpha Sif.
“I need a favour from you,”
“I’m listening,” he replied.
“Promise me you will not let her out, and she will be allowed to start the School of Supernatural beings as soon as possible.”
At this request, I saw Alpha Sif's face changed suddenly. It is possible he was contemplating on his capabilities before accepting such a task, as the foregoing situations had exposed how dangerous it was to accommodate me in the Pack. It may actually involve the life of many which he never wanted.
“Well, you know I don't make promises, she'll start the School of the Supernatural beings by tomorrow, I can assure you that, but about, the rest will unfold itself. That's all I can say for now,”he added.
“So, to that effect, get ready Sapphire, you'll be enrolled in the school of the Supernaturals by tomorrow."
"Actually, much is expected of you as your aunty here is down, that means you'll need to adjust fast to your training and step into her position fast. And in other to do that, you'll be required to shift on or before the age of fourteen and that is before you can be fully inducted.”
Shifting at fourteen? that was my first time of knowing a wolf can shift at fourteen. Wasn't it supposed to be eighteen, I wondered. Well, I couldn't agree but only watch out to see how it unveils.
He further added, “You’ve been bestowed with great powers, so I guess this, may be just a little compared to your capabilities.” he concluded.
I could see the smiles beaming in Aunty Becky's face, she smiled and whispered. “Thank you your Majesty.”
Just when everywhere was calm, the door clasped open with Bridget running in, nooooo! she shouted and before anyone would imagine, she held unto auntie Becky, causing a sudden stare in the eyes of everyone.
