Sapphire’s Point of View
I wangled on the bed for some minutes while peeping through the corners of the pillow. Though I was okay with the Silver Claw's reception, I needed to make sure it wasn't a deceit or scheme of forcing my allegiance to the Pack.
Though I was assigned a room with Bridget, who had turned out to be my close friend in just a few days, I was still skeptical about her closeness. Was I truly accepted into their household? I kept pondering while Faking some sleep.
Clasp, the sound from the door revealed the already blue sunny sky which shone brightly through the blind which, as of now, was off.
“Wake up ladies, we've got a lot to do today.” That was Auntie Becky's voice, who advanced closer towards Bridget, uncovering her blanket from her fragile body.
She curled up, while mumbling "Mum, please, I'll be with you shortly," while trying to free herself from the gabbling bed booger.
"Oooh, I feel I can still sleep some more without disturbances. What a hell of a morning. I hate it," she murmured.
She could still sleep more, but refused to. Maybe there was a special routine for the day or a need she needed to attend to. But that could wait. She frowned deeply and later proceeded to my corner.
Since my arrival, her morning schedule had always been breakfast, school and home, but since it was a weekend, I never knew what to expect of her routine.
“Wakey wakey, it's time for the day's activity.” She uttered, while holding onto my legs and subsequently trying to pull me down.
“I told you to get some rest earlier, now it's time to wake up buddy,” she retorted.
I shrugged, pulling off my blanket, thus revealing my half exposed body as I slept comfortably without pulling it off. Well, I was used to this, and an explanation why, wouldn't be reasonable.
“I wish I could just snuggle my pillow all night without any disturbances from a Witch's daughter,” I murmured.
“You know, you can wait till I get a whole bucket of water soaked in your god-damned hair, Lazy ass.” She mocked.
Her response prompted the handling of my pillow. Playfully, she grabbed hers also, and we immediately began stroking each other with a pillow. It was fun, you know, as the same also equated to a planned exercise, as sweat was already drooling down my body when a sudden shout interrupted the room.
“Brid - get!, it's time to go”
That was Auntie Becky's voice. This time around, we both ran into the bathroom in pretense of preparation.
“Come with me,” she insisted we hurry to the bathroom.
“Mum would be displeased if we weren't ready yet.”
Thus, we sped up, whatever preparation and hurried out to meet Aunt Becky who, on our arrival, was communicating with an enforcer, and he hurried off, avoiding our contact.
“That's strange,” she gulped.
“Who’s that mum?” Bridget questioned.
“I've just been sent a letter by Alpha Sif, he requests our presence.”
“But, I haven't set my eyes on that enforcer before now.” “Is he new to the Pack?” She continued questioning.
It was then that Auntie Becky realized a sudden imbalance in her supernatural abilities. She growled and muttered some words, her eyes frail and dark, with a corresponding blast in the atmosphere while trying to regain her stamina.
“I think there's something wrong,” she immediately recalled, and searched for the letter, but it was nowhere to be found.
“It could be a mix-up somewhere.” She iterated. Let's meet Alpha Sif first. I'll know what's next.
As we stepped out of Auntie Becky's apartment, I had a full view of what the Pack house looked like. It was a magnified edifice consisting of four duplexes well assigned to the high ranking officials of the Pack. It was painted white with some carved out designs in each unit.
The Alpha's quarters had the best of the art work well displayed-a two-story building with its balcony extended into the throne house, thus making it easy to assess the throne at any time. Another quarter was reserved for his beta, which was directly opposite the throne room.
Auntie Rebecca had a special ability, thus her main duty was very important to the preservation of the Pack, which made it a must for her to stay in the Pack's house.
Moving in with aunty Becky has been a hell of a lot of fun as I've suddenly developed a connection with Bridget, as she's suddenly she's more like a sister, so dear.
Alpha Sif was anticipating us after all, so it wasn't a big deal to access him, but all the excitement became short-lived as our senses were alerted by a thump sound on the floor, thus disrupting our little conversation.
“What would have suddenly gone wrong?”
I never knew that aunty Becky was poisoned with wolfbane. Wolfbane is a poisonous substance, enough to kill any wolf or if its victim is strong enough to survive, it can cause one to be wolfless, by making his/her wolf go dormant for life.
It's possible that the letter that was handed over to Auntie Becky had diffused the Wolfbane into her system, but since she harbored mysteries, she was able to counter the effect for a while, that's why the circulation process went slow, thus keeping her active till the period she dropped unconscious.
Most complicated and the worst of it all, was the information that three of the enforcers, particularly stationed at the Pack house, had also been poisoned with wolfbane. It was never a coincidence, but the possibility that a traitor had been led into the pack unknowingly became the major issue.
A sudden trail was also ushered in when Alpha Sif handed over a letter that he should surrender me to the Lycans or risk losing members of his pack.
Hopefully, my presence had brought chaos into the kingdom and all I could hope for was for Auntie Becky to survive against all odds. If not, the pack would be in trouble as she was the Pack's witch and harbored various mysteries to help the pack.
For now, I was still at a crossroads of anguish. Will I be handed over to the enemies, or will I be protected?
