CHAPTER4

We were suddenly interrupted by a group of pups displaying magic. You know right now, let's go do some sports to calm the tension. He quickly raced ahead, leaving me behind to meet up with him. Well, very soon, there will be more than this. Thus, I hurried up as I increased my pace and was able to meet up with him for our usual sporting activity. Thus, I hurried up as I increased my pace and was able to meet up with him for our usual sporting activity. SAPPHIRE'S POV “Run! Run!! As fast as you can to safety. Remember all I've told you. I know you're strong and can survive." I heard auntie Susan say through the mind link. Actually, I was grateful for all her sacrifices but, at the same time, perplexed about her safety. Would we ever meet again? It was the question I constantly had in my mind and I needed to see her again someday as she was the only relationship I could boast of. Imagine thinking of someone's safety when your life is at stake, I mocked. Well, that was a part of me, watching out for others even at my detriment. Thump, an arrow suddenly flickered through, hitting the woods, calling me back to alertness. “Gosh, that was close, I murmured, catching my breath in-between. Apparently, the Lycans had gotten hold of the direction I was headed and reluctantly stormed the woods in search of me. It's obvious that I was actually their target, and they were close to getting hold of their prey, but would that ever come to pass? Never. I was determined to stay alive, and alive I'll be Running for close to half an hour enabled the rustling of leaves fuming in the air as my pace increased. I opted to run in the zigzag sequel, thus escaping the fired arrows as all my instincts were pointing towards survival. Just as I was about to celebrate my triumph having successfully escaped the furious beast in the woods, as I had lost sight of any of the Lycan, a hand caught my leg, throwing me down to the ground. It's obvious that they had shifted to various forms of animals in order to gain a faster pace, thus, getting hold of me. After which I felt a sling fastened to my leg, and in a bid to escape, I somersaulted onto the slope and tumbled down the sloppy hill which led to a slum of mud just below it. Though unlucky to have hit the mud, I guess it was better off being taken captive by the Lycan. I wallowed through into the water close by, which, unknown to me, emptied into the ravine. Its waves wafted me along as the rumbling sound now got louder, begging like crazy I would jump into it or get emptied into the ravine alongside its water. Luckily for me, I sighted a crook fastened onto its bend, leaving me with no other option than hanging up there, hoping for a miracle. “Look how helpless you look, so pitiable and exhausted. Come with us, surrender and gain our alliance and protection,” the Lycan's, who had now shifted to their human forms, smirked. My heart skipped immediately, I heard their voices as I contemplated my next line of action. If I should jump down, I had no certainty of a safe landing in the water. Its bed looked all rocky and surrendering was never an option for me. Just as I was about to jump down, I heard a male's sound, calling out, “Hey”, thus disrupting the concentration of the Lycans. Who could that be, I imagined, taking the attention off myself for once. I struggled to climb through, trying my best to get to a safe abode. The furious beasts were immediately interrupted by two youngsters riding on horses. Maybe their aims were to have some fun in the woods or possibly race with their horses, but they ended up jumping into trouble. They refused to run but watched in amazement as the Lycans advanced towards them. Would I say they weren't scared as their demeanor still remained calm and cheerful. “Run! I shouted," They're coming for you." As if they (the Lycans) weren't irritated by my interruption, they smiled at me as they advanced towards the youngsters. I observed a similar aged man, almost their age, but looking a bit younger than the duo suddenly appearing before them. Thus, causing a tremor in the midst of the guys. His eyes held ancient knowledge and his presence radiated an air of enigma. He interrupted the scene, causing chaos. In a bid to attack, the Lycan threw their grip upon them, but they dodged. I was amazed at their sudden alertness and subsequent action. It's possible they'd been trained to defend themselves all their lives, hence, I opted to watch the combat instead of running. How bold I was even in the face of threat. The older guy suddenly caused a pull in-between, intertwining the three Lycans who at this stage had shifted into others to utilize their strength. The fight got intense, causing a range of attack with daggers. Unfortunately, one of the daggers got intercepted by one of the guys, causing him to stumble. “Rush out of here now,” I heard one of the three call out, as the Lycans were nowhere to be found. I stammered when I sighted the youngster running towards me. He held my hand, looking directly into my eyes. His eyes glanced into my soul, causing a gleam of hope to beam. I saw some fuse of confusion running through his eyes. Was he recalling something or what, I pondered. “Let's go!” he uttered and helped me up. I never knew why I should trust him at this stage, but I actually did brace up and followed suite not minding if it was another tactic to get hold of me. He helped me onto the horse to saddle alone while he saddled his wounded friend or brother, who at this point was yelping helplessly as we made our way out of the woods. Not long after, we heard fumes of terror. I guess the Lycan were still strong in attack against the last man standing. What happened thereafter, I can't tell. What I know is, we were out to safety and may never have to face those ferrocious wolves anymore. My excitement knew no bounds when I sighted a middle-aged lady already waiting in the company of some enforcers. I guessed she should be Auntie Bridget, someone Auntie Susan told me about. I was particularly baffled when I sighted the third youngster who now introduced himself as Flynn ahead of us. I rushed forward in appraisal, even though my mind skipped in desperation. Flynn explained that he had visions of a looming threat that could jeopardize the delicate balance between their supernatural realms. His visions hinted at a force that sought to exploit the elemental powers controlled by both of us and had sought to restore the balance to normalcy when he was interrupted by the ongoing conflict. Thus, he turned to us and warned us “next time, be careful of the woods.”
