CHAPTER NINE
Although her afternoon seemed packed, Mackenzie started to feel as if she was falling into a groove. After leaving the library, everything simply seemed to fall into place. Speaking with the sheriff’s office on the phone, she found it surprisingly easy to be connected with whom she needed to speak with and setting up a meeting with the recently arrested Quentin Neil.
Due to regulation and policies set in place, certain people needed to be present when she spoke with Neil and because of that, she could not meet with him until 5:30. She sent Ellington the details and he was on board right away.
Rather than get discouraged over the two-hour wait, she set to finding the addresses for as many of the people on Sam Batiste’s list as she could—all people who had checked a book out
