Chapter 7After getting up Saturday morning, Jamie put on his jacket, slid his feet into his boots, and then moved the sofa away from the door. Lighting the portable heater, he made the trek to the outhouse, grumbling about the cold morning air and the muddy ground. Apparently, it had rained overnight, although he’d slept through it. He hoped it had at least partially filled the cistern, which had to be close to empty. A few minutes later he walked around the corner of the cabin to find Lycus sitting on the porch. Jamie ruffled the fur on his head, went inside, and dressed for the day. As he fixed breakfast, he heard Lycus scratch on the door, so he opened it to let the wolf-dog in. “Hungry?
