The truth

Jace's pov I step into the living area and my eyes meet with Uncle Lucien. He is not alone, Dante is standing next to him. “We have been waiting for you.” Dante mutters softly. “Where is she?” Lucien asks. “She's sleeping in her bedroom.” Words come out of my mouth. Lucien walks over to me. “The thing is we have decided to skip the purification process.” He informs. “Huh?” My eyes widened. “Flerena said we can do the ritual without performing purification. She will handle everything on the day of sacrifice.” Dante steps forward. “A rare transit has appeared, very auspicious.” Dante smiles. “The sacrifice will happen exactly after ten days and we have already announced it to the society members.” “Ten days?” My chest tightens. “Be alert 24/7 because now everyone will try their best to mark her.” Lucien rests his palm on my shoulder. My head nods. Nash, Kayden, and Royce appear. “Hello, uncle!” They greet Lucien. “Hear the news from your brother.” Lucien smiles and walks out of our mansion. Dante follows his steps. “What did he say?” Kayden inquires. “The sacrifice will happen ten days from now and Flerena will take care of everything.” All three of them pass each other a suspicious glance. One side is the supreme power and on the other side is Liana. She's a scapegoat and every evil b*stard has his eyes set on her innocence. Kayden and Royce are the most desperate ones who would do anything to sacrifice Liana for power. Nash is safe but I can't say for sure. *** Later at night… Liana’s pov After Jace left like that, he never came back to the greenhouse; instead, he sent Poly to escort me out. Wearing a red silk nightdress, my feet approach the library for the first time in the Maxwell castle. I am curious to know about my origin and Evenly said they have plenty of knowledgeable books. She is back but might leave soon for work. The library is huge and filled with a pleasant scent. My feet approach every single shelf in search of a book that will have information about wolfless women. A certain book catches my eye. Red cover and golden pages. There's a lot of information about wolfless women… A wolfless woman may feel her energy near her fated mate. A wolfless woman might be a human or any other supernatural being. If a wolfless woman feels nothing around her fated mate…that means she's human, but if she does, she has her wolf power that needs to be awakened, or she's something else. If her body feels strong on a full moon, she's a wolf and if her body feels weak on a full moon, she's a witch. As for the vampire, the body will show signs under the sunlight. For a dragon, there will be a wing cut on either side of the upper back. For a raven, she will understand a crow's language. I close the book and sigh. My body doesn't react to sunlight; my back doesn't have wing cuts, and my mind doesn't understand crow language. The only three options are… Either I'm a wolf, a witch, or a human. “When is the full moon?” I put the book back in its place, yet my feet topple, and my hands accidentally push the shelf…only to open a secret room. “What is this?” My eyes are stunned. My feet step inside out of curiosity and my gaze moves through the dark room. There are four chairs and a bookshelf. “Seems like a secret meeting spot.” I look through things, exploring with a free mind until a black book draws my attention. The title is - Sacrifice and Rituals. My fingers flip through the pages and read everything about the rituals. I halt on a strange page with my name written on it. “Why is my name here?” I become more curious and start searching through the entire bookshelf. That's when my grip holds a card the same as the one next to my parents’ dead body. Secret society. . . . The night wolves My heart drops to my stomach. I search more and find a secret diary of the Maxwell brothers. The notes written on the pages horrify my soul. My new family is planning to sacrifice me for a ritual to achieve the greatest power. Tears rolled down my eyes. “So you found out?” A familiar voice reaches my ears. My head turns around, and I see him. Nash Maxwell. He steps inside. “Don't come closer!” My lips threaten his steps. His feet don't stop. “Don’t you dare!” I shout. He closes the distance between us to inches and pins me against the shelf. “Don’t touch me!” I demand. “Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh” “Stop it, Lia.” “Stop it?” My eyes widen. “You all are planning to sacrifice me in some sick black ritual and you want me to stop it?” Nash moves his lips closer to my ear… “I won't let anyone touch you.” My gaze looks at his face. “Tonight, we're leaving this place!” “Lies!” My words hiss. “Why would you help me?” He pauses for a few seconds… “You're my fated mate, Lia.” "My life is in danger as much as yours."
