Chapter 7 Sophie POV

1725 Words
I feel Anya stirring behind me, peeking my left eye open. I looked at the clock. It's 7am, we have to get up and get ready for classes. I really don't want to face her though. I can already feel my face flaming red. She will know something is wrong, my dreams were really starting to mess with me. His touch is so real, everything. My body comes to life every time I even think about him. I already feel strong feelings I've never felt before, stirring up for him. And he wasn't even real , but it was like I was compelled to feel them. Internally, I rolled my eyes great. I'm falling for a made-up character in my dreams now. How sad was that ? Maybe Anya was right. Maybe it was time to get up the nerve to start interacting with boys more. I felt Anya move and get ready for her usual onslaught of bouncing all over the bed to wake me up. My back is to her so she will still think I'm sleeping. She surprises me though by quietly scooting out of bed and heading to the door, turning over onto my back surprised. I looked to see her rush out the door without even a morning greeting in my direction. Well, that was odd. Shrugging it off thinking maybe she was just heading to the bathroom, I get out of bed just as my alarm starts blaring at me. Picking up my phone, I turned the alarm off and went to the bathroom to shower. Anya wasn't in the bathroom when I got there and the door was wide open. Maybe she has already gone. I shrug. Stepping in the shower, I make quick work of washing my hair and getting clean. It's not long, and I'm back in my room getting ready for the day. Opening my closet and looking through my clothes, I looked around and glanced at the window and saw it looked like it was going to be warm today, so I picked out a black dress and a pair of flats. Then it was time to tackle drying my hair. Having such long hair comes at a price. Reaching for my hair dryer, I set to the task. An hour later, I stroll into the kitchen and find that Anya is there. She's staring off into space again, a strange look on her face, there is definitely something up with her. She's been doing this a lot. I went to fill my cup with the coffee Anya had already made and sat across from her. She still doesn't notice me. So, I snap my fingers in front of her face and that's when she finally snaps out of it. And she looked at me. "What is wrong, you seemed like you were a million miles away then" I said, taking a sip of my coffee. She let out a humorless laugh, staring at her cup. " Sophie, I feel like I'm losing my mind. Honestly, I've been having these dreams of this guy, and he consumes everything about me, and he's not real. Yet he feels real to me. I've never been surer that he is, yet he isn't, he's just a dream ". I looked at her with eyes wide and my mouth gaping open wide. How can that be possible, how can it be? She looks up at my silence, and she gets a worried look on her face. I bet I look like I've seen a ghost or something. She reached across and shook my arm to snap me out of it this time. " Anya no lies, I swear I've been having the same kind of dream since the night at the club about a guy. I thought I was making up imaginary boyfriends. I was just thinking that maybe you were right, and I needed to go out and meet guys or get laid or something". I laughed nervously before I was cut off. A loud growl echos through the apartment, we both jump off our chairs, our cups falling and shattering on the floor with a loud crash. We both swung our gazes to the direction the sound had come from, and in the kitchen entrance stood two huge men dressed in all black clothing. But that isn't what has shocked me to my core. It was him. He stood there, and he was looking at me with a snarl on his face and eyes that were black with flecks of red. A growled" MINE" came out of his mouth, and he took a step towards me. The blonde guy's hands came up on his chest, holding him back from coming any closer. Fear creeps up my body and I'm frozen to the spot. I quickly looked at Anya to see she wasn't doing any better herself. The blonde guy turns his head and looks at us-then smacks the dark-haired demon on the side of the head. " Dante you d**k, just look at what you are doing to them, you're f*cking terrifying them". Wait. What did he say Dante? I looked up at the dark-haired man again. His eyes change, and the red disappears, but his eyes are still dark, he looks back at me and a look of horror washes over his face. All his posture changes. Then I hear Anya whisper " Darius?" The blonde guy looks taken back. He turns to fully face her, no longer holding the menacing dark-haired man back. " Yes Anya, it's me, you know me well, at least you know of me, right?" she takes a pensive step towards him. She looked back at me with her big brown eyes pleading "You see them too, right ? Tell me you see them Sophie, if not, you need to ring my mom because I'm going to need to check into a hospital or something". My eyes darted back to them. They both looked at me expecting. I looked back at Anya and nodded my head. Then her face turns to a sickly white. She looks back at the men in our apartment ,her figure becoming a bit wobbly. " Vampire" leaves her mouth, then I see her body falling. She was fainting. I went to get around the breakfast table, but before I could reach her, the one called Darius was already there. Within less than a second, he scooped her up in his arms and turned to walk off with her. A scream came up my throat. Oh my god, he's kidnapping her. I spun around and pulled the utensil drawer open. Grabbing out a knife, I spun back around to face them. " I'm telling you now. Put her down. I don't know who or what you are, but I will use this if you try to kidnap her. Put her down NOW ", I screamed. They both looked at me wide-eyed. Then they glanced at each other and laughed. Darius continues to walk out of the kitchen with Anya still in his arms, so I charge forward, following him out the newly empty kitchen entrance. The dark-haired man had moved to let the man with Anya pass. I had all intent of stabbing him. " Sophie " I halted in my tracks. I know that voice, my body becomes as still as a statue. I can see the room now, and I can see that the other man has placed Anya on the sofa. He was crouched down at the side of her, his hand on her forehead, his face looked so peaceful as he looked at her, he didn't look like he was about to hurt her. I jump and scream as a hand is placed on my shoulder. Spinning around, I pointed the knife at his amused face. His dark eyes are dancing with laughter which serves to piss me off more. " Who the f*ck are you ? Why are you here? What are you ? How did you get in?". It occurred to me the front door was locked. The security guard didn't ring us to see if he could let them up, and I never heard them break in. My hand holding the knife started to shake. "There were a lot of questions, Sophie, but I think you already know my name. Think back to when you were dreaming". I gasped for a breath and let it out slowly. Panicking wouldn't help me and Anya now. I needed to remain calm. " Dante? " I whispered, keeping him distracted while I thought of some sort of plan, my eyes darting around looking for my phone. " Yes, Dante, now think of how safe you felt in my arms, Sophie, the night we danced, the night we laid in bed together". My eyes snapped back to his at that. How did he know that I was dreaming that ? He can't know. Then my face blushed red at the reminder of the kiss when he was in my bed. He nods his head and bites his bottom lip, indicating he knows where my mind just went to. Then all the blood quickly drains back out of my face at the reminder of what Anya had said, a vampire ! I'd dreamed of a vampire mystery man. How would she do the same? The red in his eyes. Then the other guy had reached Anya quickly, faster than any human. Then this man. He appeared and disappeared. The night at the club. I was going to be sick. I felt light-headed. My balance was wobbly no, no no I couldn't faint too. I needed to protect us. I gulped some deep breaths and managed to whisper " Are you and him, are you both... " I looked at his face. The word stuck, lodged in my throat. His jaw sets. He's warring with himself whether to answer or not. Then he lets out a sigh and puts his hands out and steps closer and again my legs are too wobbly to move. Once he's close, his husky voice says " vampire", then I fall, and he catches me with his open arms. A faint thought crosses my mind as I feel blackness taking over. So that's what he put his arms out for.
