Before long, Chase received a special "gift". Staring at the bundle in his arms, Chase frowned in puzzlement.
"Sir, this is the child of that woman you've been looking for. She was killed in a car accident. The baby is the only thing she left…"
…
Four years later, the airport of the Nephele City.
Lola got off the flight in disguise. Her face was hidden behind sunglasses and a mask, so no one would recognize her. It had been years. She wondered if that man was still looking for her. Chase Dalton sounded like he meant it when he said that he would "pay her back". Chase was the most powerful man in this city. If it were not for someone who needed her treatment urgently, she would never take the risk to be back to Nephele.
Thinking of that, she unconsciously walked a bit faster. She needed to get to the hotel as soon as possible in case someone would recognize her. And her three babies were following her with efforts.
"Mommy!" One of the babies called out after her, "You're walking toooo fast. I'm hungry already. I want some cakes and cookies…"
"Ssh…" Lola whipped around and hushed. She didn't want any unnecessary attention in the terminal. Monna was her youngest daughter and the little foodie of the family. "Monna, be good. Mommy will buy cakes for you later, okay?"
Monna's eyes were lit up as she nodded enthusiastically. Mia looked quite the same as Monna. She sighed as she shook her little head in disapproval, "Monna, you can't eat desserts all the time. They're unhealthy and you will be chubby."
Monna pouted, "But you also ate cake and cookies…"
"It was just one bite."
"But you still ate it..."
"Alright, girls," Cole cut in as the big brother, "Mommy said we should go. You two should stop fighting…"
"Cole, you're always so biased," Monna stomped her little feet and walked away. Cole was clueless, "Biased? How am I biased?" He turned to Lola without an incredulous look on his chubby face, "Mommy, do you think I'm biased?"
Lola smiled resignedly. Before she could say anything to settle the little sibling friction, a soft exclamation caught her attention, making her turn around to look.
Monna bumped into someone and she fell back on her butt. The woman she bumped into was young. She was staring down at Monna at the moment with a pinched look on her face, "What the hell! Watch when you walk, kiddo. Or your mom and dad have never taught you that?" This woman is so mean. Why does she also talk about dad? I don’t even have one... Monna pouted with a poor look.
"Monna, get up," Mia hurried to her little sister and helped Monna up, "Let's go."
"Hey," the woman called after the girls, "Don't you think you should apologize to me? Have you no manners?"
“I am sorry, Ma’am.” Monna looked up with her pure eyes and said sincerely.
"And that one beside you," the woman seemed like she wouldn't let them go easily, "She must also apologize to me."
Mia turned around with distaste on her little face, not saying a thing. This woman is really unreasonable. She bumped into Monna but she asked us to apologize?!
"What's wrong?"
"What happened?"
Two voices sounded at the same time. The first voice belonged to Lola, the other, however…
Lola lifted her gaze to the familiar voice and looked away instantly… Holy sh*t!
It’s him! Chase Dalton! How comes I just run into him the first day I come back from abroad?
"Chase, these little brats are so mannerless. They wouldn't even apologize after bumping into me," the woman pouted as she grabbed Chase's arm.
Chase moved away from her arm and looked down at Mia and Monna. These little girls before him had cute faces and pure, bright green eyes. They looked quite familiar.
Lola took in a sharp breath as she looked away, praying that Chase wouldn't recognize the children. Mia and Monna both have her eyes. Cole clearly noticed that something had gone wrong as his mommy's hand was tightening around his. Besides, that man over there looked so much like himself. Cole wanted to approach the man and get a better look, but Lola pulled him back instantly, covering his face with a mask.
If Chase saw Cole's face, he would definitely realize that the boy was actually his son and he would take Cole away. Cole couldn't understand what was happening, but he stayed still as Lola wanted him to.
"They're your kids?" Chase arched an eyebrow as he turned to Lola. Lola was facing in another direction as she nodded nervously. She didn't make a response because she was too afraid that Chase would recognize her voice.
"It's still not too late to teach them manners because they're considerably young." Chase sounded both cold and aloof as he said that.
"It was not our fault! This lady bumped into Monna and scolded us! Besides, Monna has already apologized." Mia stared at Chase without flinching. The unyielding look on her little face reminded Chase of someone. He cast his cold eyes to another girl. These girls both looked like that woman! Could their mother actually be…
This was just his wild guess, but he couldn't help stepping forward. Lola was startled as she took one step back…
Gosh! What should I do? What if this jerk insists to see my face? Lola felt her heart thumping so fast that it was gonna come out of her mouth. Chase Dalton fixed her with those cold grey eyes as if a wolf fixed its prey…
Holy crap! Oh Jesus! I am doomed! Lola lowered her head as much as possible.
