Chase's words broke Lola's thoughts. She lifted her gaze to meet his, having no clue about what he just said. Threaten him? When did she ever threaten him? "Mr. Dalton, why do you mean?"
"You did it and now you're denying it," the man huffed, "You sabotaged the network of my company. So you're a doctor and a hacker? Hacking into business internet is a violation of the laws. You know I can call the police at any time. I do wonder where did you learn so many skills thought."
Lola was not surprised when he mentioned "doctor". But… a hacker? Did Cole invade his company's internet? Lola remembered the boy had been locked himself in his room for a couple of hours. Had Cole done this to get back at Chase for what he had done to her? Lola realized that she mustn't let Chase find out who the hacker really was. So she took one step ahead, confronting the man, "This is none of your concern."
"So you just admitted it? Swain, do you have a death wish?" Chase narrowed his eyes dangerously. Lola shuddered. Did this man really mean to destroy her life? But she couldn't die. She still had three babies to take care of. And Kevin, her poor Kevin…
"Mr. Dalton, you know I am the only doctor in this world who can treat your son." Chase arched an eyebrow at the mention of Kevin's name. As reluctantly as he cared to admit it, Kevin did get so much better after the needle treatment. He should probably let this woman live first, so she could right her wrongs and save Kevin. He still could get back at her when he made sure Kevin was healthy again.
"Sir, you can't hurt Mommy. Mommy tried so hard to raise us up!"
"That's right! We will hate you so much if you hurt Mommy!" The girls protested, waving their little fists.
Chase ignored the girls, "Swain, I will let you live for now. This is your chance of atoning the things you have done to me and Kevin. You must save Kevin. And you can't let him know that you're his mother. Or I won't promise what will happen to your daughters."
The threat in his eyes was cold and real. Lola couldn't help but shudder as she held the girls in her arms, "I know, Mr. Dalton. I won't let Kevin know."
"Remember what you just said," Chase bit out. The stare he left was long and threatening. Lola let out a breath she'd been holding when he finally turned around to leave. But a loud "clack" made the man stop halfway. It sounded like a cup just fell from the table and it was from the bedroom.
Could this be her man, the father of her daughters? Chase let out a cold smile. He'd like to see this man's face before he left. His Kevin had been suffering. This woman didn't deserve to live a happy life.
Lola felt her blood curdle the second Chase steered his way to the bedroom. Cole was still in the room! This man would see her soon and he would know everything!
"Stop!" Lola got in his way, stretching her arms, "You can't get in there. Please leave." Chase grabbed her shoulder and pushed her away. Was this woman worried that he would hurt her man? Chase sneered as he kicked open the door.
