Despite the fact that I sold costumes for a living, I’d never been one to play dress up in any form or fashion. I was willing to do accessories, though. I chose to wear a white feather boa and a pair of Elton John sunglasses as my outfit, suitably noted in inventory, of course. That would have to be good enough. I made my way to the club, music already blaring and shrieks of laughter spilling out the doors. Nervous, I went inside and was immediately assaulted by all the color and variety of costumes, some of which I would never have the nerve to wear.
