Aaliyah's POV
I stared at my mother, having no idea how to respond. She looked at me as if she was trying to convince me to believe in her words. After a while, I let out an awkward laugh.
"Carson is married Mom, let's stop creating an inappropriate issue," I uttered, then gave her a faint smile.
"We all know that he doesn't love Patricia. Carson married her because of you," she responded, not letting go of the topic. I let out a deep breath. Maybe my mother saw how problematic, so she pulled me into a tight way and caressed my back as if she was telling me that everything was going to be okay.
"Before I leave this world I want to see you happy Aaliyah," she uttered, which made me laugh not because of happiness, but because I realized that maybe in my mother's eyes I looked miserable,,
