Lia’s heart was nearly racing out of her chest as she tried not to show the deep fear she fell for what it was that Peterson had told Cameron. She knew what the most obvious answer was but prayed to whatever God was listening for him to have it be anything but. She was only able to wait until they got into the car, being closed in silence, before she finally spoke the words that were desperate to leave her lips. “What did he say?” she asked nervously, trying to hide the anxiety that was screaming to be released. “It doesn't matter…” he let out a sigh while clinging onto the steering wheel and pulling himself from the parking lot and back to his apartment. They spoke very little as it was only a short distance home and the radio filled what would have been an otherwise awkward silence.
