23. Moment Of Death

Marcus yells. "VISION."
Dipak grabs my hand. "We're here sweetheart."
I see 11 glowing blue orbs. 9 in the back row. 3 in the front.
The 3 orbs in the front turn into us girls standing there. One of the orbs from the back row comes up and floats beside me. It turns into Marcus. Everything else fades away, and it's only the 2 of us.
Then our souls go into 2 teenage kids kissing by a river. We follow their lives in a minute. Marriage, children, a whole life. They die old and together. The souls come out of them. They turn into me and Marcus again.
I lean back against him. We're both crying. "I had a whole life with you."
We watch us have about 10 more lives together. All with love and children. Then the orbs come back. Marcus steps back and Dipak stands by me.
We watch our lives play out. He squeezes my hand and kisses it a few times.
Then the orbs switch and the one beside me turns into Tre. We watch just as many lives with Tre play out.
I feel him kiss my neck. "I love you baby."
"I love you Tre."
Then we watch past lives with Frode and Thora, then Samson and Coral. It never shows me Tye. The other 3 orbs never show themselves.
The vision ends, and the tears pour out of me. I think we're all crying. The boys take turns hugging me, and we get ourselves collected.
We get outside and I turn towards Marcus. "YOU JACKASS. HOW DARE YOU TRY TO HAVE A MATE THAT WASN'T ME?"
Thora stomps on his foot. "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? THAT WASN'T NADINE."
"AND SAMSON DID IT TOO."
Dipak rubs his eyes.
Tre nods. "You better run."
Coral screams. "WAIT." She puts her hands out. "Maybe it was you. In a different lifetime. Maybe he found you to fast. He was supposed to find you like this. If he found you in your previous life, it wouldn't have been right."
Thora scratches her head. "You might have something there. But I don't know."
"The first girl for Samson. She rejected him and died almost immediately. Years before I was even born. Maybe it was me in the wrong life. Maybe he wasn't supposed to find me then." She looks at Marcus. "What happened to her? Is she dead?"
"I have no idea."
"I bet she died before you were even born. I'm on to something here."
I scratch my head. "But you seen the lives. We are connected through them. I would still have felt him being my mate even if it wasn't the right life."
"Now how do you know that?" Thora scratches her head.
"I have no idea and my head is trying to hurt." I rub my head.
Coral grabs me. "LET'S GO ASK THE ROCK." She pulls me back in.
"WE SOUND LIKE CRAZY PEOPLE..." Thora runs behind us. "BUT YES LET'S DO THAT. LET'S ASK THE ROCK."
The boys follow us.
Coral picks it up and her eyes go orange.
Thora stares at her. "I'll be damned."
We grab Coral.
It's 2 orbs. Then 1 turns into me. The other turns into a man in a suit.
He's talking to me. "You know your mission for this life. You must succeed."
"I will."
"You must also be careful. You have 2 mates already on the planet. You must not come in contact with them. If you do, you have to reject the bond. Once the mission is complete, you will be removed. You must complete it as soon as possible. Do you understand?"
"Yes. I will take no mate. I will complete the mission and then return."
"You can not fail."
"I will not fail."
I hear Thora. "Damn you're a badass in every life."
"There is a young woman about to die. You will take over her body at the moment of death. We will collect the soul and you will take the body. We will heal it and no one will know the difference. You should be able to complete the mission in a matter of weeks. As soon as it is done, you will be brought back. You are also keeping your knowledge. You must remember everything for this mission."
"I understand. I will return in weeks. Take no mate. Hide the crowns."
Thora yells, "YOU HID THE CROWNS? WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY?"
"Like I would remember from another life."
"Here we go. We are sending you in at the moment of her death."
We see a girl with dark hair falling off a cliff. Then she splats on the ground. Then I turn into an orb. The orb jumps in the flat woman. Then the woman stands up and yells, "EPOCH SHOULDER."
"That f*****g hurt. She looks up in the air. MAYBE NOT THE EXACT MOMENT OF DEATH NEXT TIME. Thanks for fixing the shoulder though."
I feel Marcus's hand tense up on me. He doesn't say anything.
The vision moves forward in time. She is sitting at a bar or restaurant or something. She gets a drink and looks at Marcus a couple of tables over. "s**t. Epoch evacuate me."
The vision goes to me running away outside. I am bawling and running as fast as I can.
Then it goes to Tre in the room with the man in the suit. "Well, that isn't good."
"That wasn't supposed to happen."
"He's going to be messed up over that. We have to set him back on the course."
"We will. I'll send you in. Give him a place to call home. Make sure he doesn't have to worry about anything. Talk to him. See what he needs."
Tre nods.
Then Tre turns into a girl magician. He feels his boobs. All of us crack up laughing.
"Keep him in there Tre. Don't let him give up. This whole life has been bad for him. Give him a sanctuary. Make sure it's safe. He's still young."
"I'll make sure he's safe. I'll give him a home."
All of a sudden, I get a very uneasy feeling. "TRE YOU BETTER NOT HAVE TOUCHED MARCUS."
"HE DIDN'T!" Marcus yells. "God, that would have been f*****g weird. That would have been more traumatizing than anything else. He did feel his boobs a lot. I thought that was weird. I still remember that."
"That doesn't surprise me."
"Yea, he really likes boobs."
Then the vision flashes to the girl again. She's standing on the side of the cliff. "I'm so sorry Marcus. I do want you, but I had to do that. I hope you can forgive me. I'll see you in my next life. Then we can be together. Epoch, I'm done here." She turns around and steps off the cliff.
The vision goes to Coral sitting in the room with the man in the suit. I guess that's Epoch.
"It should only take you a week. Get in and out. This mission is extremely important."
"I know. Don't fail. Do mission. Die. Easy enough. Let's go."
"We're sending you in at the moment of death."
"Can you make it a couple of moments after death? Nadine said that hurt."
"No. It needs to be at the moment of death. We can't get into the body once it's dead."
"Fine."
Then we see a girl walking into a river. Coral takes over her body and climbs out of the river. Then it flashes forward to her in a hallway with my scepter.
Epoch walks around a corner. "Not the right timeline."
"Dropping this off. We had a hiccup. I'm leaving."
He takes the scepter and keeps going.
She climbs some steps and comes face to face with Samson. She freezes. He grabs her. "MINE."
"NO. WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING HERE? YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE."
"What? You're mine."
"I REJECT THE BOND. THIS ISN'T RIGHT. EPOCH." She turns and runs. She's crying to. She runs bawling to a cliff and jumps off.
The vision ends.
Marcus has tears on his face.
"I'm sorry Marcus."
"I understand now, little one."
"I don't think I understand."
He smiles and kisses my head.
