29. I'm Me

I watch Tre drive. "Can I try?"
"You can park it baby."
"Ok." I smile and watch out the windows.
Tre takes us back and stops over the parking spots. "Hit the park button on the navigation here, baby."
I jump on his lap. "OK." I hit the pedal on the floor by accident. We go flying forward right into a tree. Then the back of the shuttle drops out of the air and hits the ground. I jump back on Marcus. "I didn't do it."
Tre nods.
Marcus laughs. "The doors won't engage because the front of the shuttle is still off the ground."
"It's not that far off the ground."
"You parked us in a tree baby."
"You didn't say where to park Tre."
They lose it.
Marcus wipes his eyes. "I'll message Dipak and let him know we're the ones in the tree. Pull that lever and then turn the knob. Let's see if we can get it back in the air."
"It's not doing anything."
Marcus hugs me. "You killed it angel." He tickles me. I start laughing then he pulls a lever on the door. It pops off. "We'll take the emergency exit."
Dipak is standing there with a few different officers.
I hug penguin and shake my head. "I didn't do it."
"She sure as hell did." Marcus cracks up laughing. "She parked in a damn tree."
"You didn't tell me where to park."
Dipak shakes his head. "No more driving."
I cross my harms. "You don't let me do anything. Why didn't you let me stay home?"
"You were in the room with Tre. We didn't have an option."
I hug Tre. He scoops me up like he always does. They didn't want me here. I didn't want to be here. My eyes fill up with tears. I can't even say anything. I want to go home. I'll leave them alone for the week. I can stare out a window like daddy said.
"We'll call for a shuttle to take you up, sir."
"Thank you."
Tre rubs my back and snuggles me. "I love you baby."
"I love you Tre."
We get back to the ship and I really want to look like me again, but I don't want to ask them how. "We want you to see the take-off sequence. Can you follow us to the command area? Then you can do whatever you want."
Tre hugs me. "You want to go see it?"
"No."
He kisses my head. "Maybe another time."
Dipak rolls his eyes. It's obvious he hates me. Maybe I should reject him and Tye. I could keep Marcus and Tre. They seem to actually like me. "You can go. I want to take a bath before bed anyway."
He kisses my head. "Are you sure baby?"
I nod.
"Alright. I'll get back as soon as I can."
Future me runs around the corner and jumps on Dipak. "I MISSED YOU." She kisses his head. Then she sees me and drops off him. "Sorry. I didn't know you had my disguise on."
"It doesn't matter." I hug penguin and go to Tre's room.
It seems pointless to take a bath like this. I need to change back to my own body. I go out into the hallway. There are a lot of people on the ship. Maybe 1 will be friendly and I can ask.
I go down a couple levels. I don't want to go to the command area. I'll only bother them.
I somehow manage to find a long hallway that is 3 floors high. It's long and all windows. It must connect the 2 parts of the ship. But it's weird. I stand on a track of some kind, and it moves me to the other side. Then there's another one that if I stand on, I go back to the other side. I step on the first one.
It moves me. The view is amazing. I can see the stars.
I ride back and forth on these things for half an hour. I love watching out the windows. Then an alarm sounds. The lights go red for a few seconds. I panic and jump off. I run down the hallway. I'll get back to Tre's room quickly. I find the elevator and ride it up. I get off and this is not right. I seem to be in a bar with an entire round glass ceiling. The whole thing is a window. Walls, ceiling, all of it. And it is the entire top of the section. The only thing not clear is the floor and furniture.
I run to the elevator and go back down. But I have no idea what floor that long hallway was on. I think it was something like 17. I push the 17. It drops and I run out. The alarm sounds again, and the lights go red. I run in the direction of the long window hallway.
Both Tye's step out from around a corner.
I start sobbing.
Future Tye scoops me up. I wrap around him and cry. I hold penguin so tight.
"What happened?"
"I'M LOST." I sob out.
"I see this." He pats my butt. "We'll get you back."
"Who is she?"
"My love."
My Tye rubs his eyes. "No more."
"It's alright. Come on. You'll understand."
We get on the elevator, and I snuggle the penguin and future Tye.
"It's floor 4 on this side and floor 17 on the other. Can you remember that? As long as you can remember 4 and 17, you'll be able to go back and forth. What were you searching for?"
"Someone nice."
"Why?"
"I'm stuck like this. I don't want to bother anyone."
He snuggles me and kisses my head. "You're not a bother." He steps on the long moving walkway with me. "Did you see the stars from here?"
"I rode back and forth for half an hour."
We get to the end, and he takes me on some steps. I nearly fall off him trying to look down at them. "It's an escalator. You stand on it, and it moves you up a floor." I cuddle him.
We go down another hallway and get in an elevator. "What floor are the apartments on?"
"2."
"Good girl." He pushes the 2.
We get out as the alarm sounds and the lights go red for a few more seconds. I hold tight to him.
He gives me a hug. "I love you so damn much."
My Tye rubs his eyes. "No you don't."
Future Tye stands me up. "Touch the middle black orb."
I touch it and I'm me again. I spin around and jump up and down. "I'M ME. I'M ME."
He scoops me back up. "Yes you are. And you're so pretty." He kisses my cheek. He smirks at my Tye. "Disguises here are perfect." Then he puts me back down. "The left one will give you a random disguise for a girl. The right one will be a boy. And the middle will always take you back to normal. Tre's room is that way." He points down the hall.
"THANK YOU." I run, and the alarm sounds again. I stop moving. "Can I take a bath?"
"Yea that's fine. Remember 17 and 4."
I take off running again. "THANK YOU."
"WOMAN. Dinner will be in an hour. I know it's late, but today went to s**t. It'll be on floor 3. In the middle of the circle."
I shake my head. "I already ate." I run again. I'm not eating with assholes.
"She's lying isn't she?"
I hear my Tye. "Yes."
I run back to Tre's room. I take a bath and get one of his t-shirts on. I am exhausted. I have no idea what time it is. "Cheese pizza please."
I grab it from the food maker. I might be able to eat and go to bed before Tre even gets back. Then he can go to dinner with everyone.
I hear a knock at the door and yell, "ENTER" before I think about it. My Dipak comes in.
"What are you doing, sweetheart?"
"I'm tired and hungry."
"I was coming to tell you to put on something for dinner. But at least you're eating." He sits beside me. "You doing alright?"
"Yea, hungry and tired."
"I'll eat with you."
"You don't have to. I need sleep."
He kisses my head. "I love you sweetheart."
"I love you too."
"I know I say stupid things. But you are everything to me."
I smile. "I know."
"I'm glad you're here. This is better than a feather any day."
I sit on his lap and snuggle into him.
"Are you trying to go to sleep sweetheart?"
"You're so warm."
"Let's get you into bed. It is late." He carries me to bed and lays me down. "Sweet dreams sweetheart. I love you. I'll see you in the morning."
"Good night."
He leaves the apartment. It's not his apartment, so that makes sense. I can tell he wanted to stay with me.
Tre wakes me up a couple of times by moving me around. But I sleep well.
