“What the hell just happened?”
Elizabeth stood up from the table as soon as Sawyer opened the door to the van.
She was clearly concerned, but the baby he had thrust into her arms before he ran after Selene was sleeping peacefully now, and nothing had disturbed them. She just had no way of contacting him, and so she had to wait for him to get back and explain what was going on.
“Selene…”
Elizabeth caught sight of Francesca, and she stiffened as she realized Selene was not with them.
“Did she do something? Has she hurt Selene? Why isn’t Jonas with you? Did she hurt him, too?”
Francesca hung her head. She expected her brother to make a hurtful comment about her to calm Elizabeth down, and she felt like it wasn’t entirely unjustified.
“Selene is fine, Elizabeth.”
