Francesca’s words hit Sawyer harder than she had expected, and he looked down at the ground between them without saying a word. She looked at him as objectively as she could, trying to decide if she had hurt him too much for no good reason. Her eye was drawn to his tattoo again, and she realized for the first time that the scars it covered were the ones she had inflicted.
