Francesca stayed on the bus while the others got out to eat at a tiny family run restaurant at lunch time. She had considered joining them, but she just felt unwanted and in a cruel twist of fate the rest of them had formed their own intimate group without her there. She had no place in this new, strange little family. She went and laid down on her own bed, and gazed out of the tiny window with an awful, obstructed view. She had been an observer in secret many times before. It was a part of her nature to learn the relationships and habits of other people. But this was different; the people she were watching now should have felt like a member of their pack was missing without her there, but they were all happy and relaxed in a way that they weren’t when they were on the bus.
