Sawyer still didn’t want to leave Elizabeth behind in the room, but she understood that this was something important which he needed to handle and he knew that she was safe where she was and that she trusted he would be back as quickly as he could be. He almost offered to wait until she was asleep again so that he could hold her in his arms the way they had both missed so much, but he knew that would only lead to her persuading him that she didn’t want to wait until he was back to carry on what he had just started and so he gently closed the door behind him and went back down to the living room.
