CHAPTER 9 ALYSSA EDWARDS Daniel took my hand and wanted us to go walk on the red carpet, but I was feeling too shy. "I can't, Daniel. Maybe I should just go home so you can go find another date." "No. We can go inside through the back door if it pleases you." He offered and I nodded. He led me through the back door and we entered the main hall. There were a lot of people around, in classy dresses. "I'll get us a glass of champagne." He walked over and took two glasses and gave one to me. I took it gladly and took a sip, it tasted good so I gulped it all down before he could grab the flute from me. "Woah, Woah, it's champagne. Just a sip, okay?" He whispered and I nodded with a giggle. "Come on, I want to introduce you to my dad. He's here." He whispered, his eyes fixated on someone in front of us. I turned and saw a very dignified man in a grey suit, his hair was a little white, but he looked handsome and his hazel eyes made me know he was Daniel's father. We walked over and I felt so slutty meeting the man in such a dress. "Dad, meet Alyssa. She's my new girlfriend." Daniel introduced. "Oh, hello, how are you, my dear?" "I'm doing great sir." He continued to stare at me and I felt so nervous. "Daniel, let's talk for a while." He said and walked away. "Why? Did I do something wrong? Is it about my dress? I told you.... " "Hey, hey, you've done nothing wrong, okay. I'll be back soon." He assured and left.  I looked around, taking in deep breaths and some men ogled at me. I pretended to be oblivious. but on the inside, I was really nervous and shaken. Daniel returned, a grin plastered on his face. "You've really earned me points today, Alyssa. Thank you." He smiled earnestly and I couldn't help but smile too. "What did I do and what does that mean?" "It's like this I want to quit managing my dad's club and take my dad's oil company and there's this thing in our family where my parents want me to marry someone they choose. So I told my dad that if he doesn't approve of this change, I was getting married to someone else," He explained calmly but the grin couldn't leave his pretty face. "Ohh." was all I could say. I grabbed another glass of champagne and gulped it down. "Hey, can you handle alcohol?" "No. My first time... " He held me steady and before I knew it his lips were crushed into mine, freezing my next words. Daniel had kissed me. I remained still for a while, but he still moved against my lips, his soft lips against mine sent shivers down my bones. He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me closer and securing me in his arms. He bit my bottom lip softly, teasing me. He pulled out and smiled, his face still an inch from mine. "Sorry, my dad was watching." He breathed, but I was still stunned because it was my first kiss. "I..... I..... " I didn't know what to say. "Son? What the hell? People are watching both of you." His mother snapped making me step out of his arms. I felt cold suddenly. Daniel laughed, a manly laugh. "I know mum, but I'm really serious about Alyssa." He told the woman. The auction started and they bid a lot of things. Daniel seemed completely uninterested until they brought a locket. "I'll get that one for you." "What? No. You don't have to." "It's a charm locket with a lock and a key. If I buy that it will show my parents how serious I am about you. It'll be great for the plan since the man said that the designer created it for the woman he loved because he wanted to lock her heart forever. Isn't that cheesy enough for us?." He grinned. I only smiled. I was only here to pretend with him. After tonight, we weren't going to meet again. "No other key can fit only this one can....... The bidding starts now from $800." The bidder said confidently. "$1,000." A man started. "$2,000." An old man cut in raising his indicator. "$5,000." Daniel raised his indicator leisurely. "$6,000." The first man intercepted. "$10,000." Daniel moved up. "$11,000." The man challenged and it seemed the whole attention was fixed on them. "$15,000." Daniel jumped higher. "Daniel, just let the man have it," I whispered to him, but he just gave a slight nod. "$16,000." The man yelled. We waited for another challenge, but no one said anything. "$16,000, going in, going in and..... " "$25,000." Daniel cut in and they all went wild in astonishment. "Okay, $25,000. Going in and out. Sold." "Why should you buy something so expensive?" I whispered to him when the auction was over. "We use meat to bait meat, Alyssa Edwards." He told me as he picked up his trophy at the front desk. He opened the box and took out the two lockets and put the one with the lock around my neck. They were very beautiful. My breath got hitched in my throat when I saw the way he was so close to me. He looked up at me, locking gaze with me. He licked his red lips and his eyes fell on mine. "I won't kiss you again, but God help me." He groaned and stepped back. He placed the key locket around his neck. "I need a drink," I told him and he laughed and went to get me the drink. A waitress passed with a tray and I took one, gulping it down. Daniel came with two and I took one. Once I was done with it, I was feeling a bit tipsy. I stumbled on my heels with a sly grin. "Alyssa? You are drunk." Daniel asked, wrapping his arms around my waist, holding me up. "No, no, not at all. I'm... completely so-ber." I laughed. Daniel Paterson Alyssa was drunk. She could barely stand on her own two feet. "You can't even stand," I told her. I was only feeling a little tipsy. "I can, I can, let me take you home... " I steadied her as we walked towards the entrance. "Home? I don't have a home. I can't go back to my uncle's place. He knows I'm at my uncle Henry's place... " She explained slurring on her words. I took her to my car and got her into the passenger seat and got into the driver seat. "Don't worry. You'll be safe with me," I assured her, putting the key into the ignition and starting the car. "Where are you taking me?" "To my house." "Wow, your house. Your mansion... Living it large. Finally, I have paid my debt, right?" She asked, resting her head against the headrest and stared at me. "Somehow." From the hotel to my house was a five-minute drive so we arrived early. I pulled out in the parking lot and got down, gathering Alyssa into my arms and sent her inside. I went upstairs and slowly placed her on the bed. She had her eyes closed and I pushed away from the strands of hair that had fallen over. She was so beautiful yet so fragile. "Did I do good today?" She asked sleepily. You were perfect," I whispered, inching close to her face to push away more strands that had fallen into her face. My eyes fell on her luscious lips and I couldn't resist. She opened her eyes and looked at me as I stared down at her on the bed. I leaned in slowly and crushed my lips into hers and she kissed me back, wrapping her arms around my neck. I laid on her supporting my weight with my arms and deepened the kiss. Her lips tasted so intoxicating that the kiss got wild and fierce. Something told me she was drunk, but the way her heartbeat told me it was her sober side. My mouth slowly broke away and moved to her neck, nibbling it. She moaned, arching forward as she enjoyed it. "I have to stop because I don't come with brakes," I whispered to her, but she made the move by silencing me with her lips and I took that as a go-ahead. She helped me take off my shirt and I also undressed her since we were in the heat of the moment. "Are you sure about this, Alyssa?" She laughed and nodded before we got on. _____ Thanks for reading
