“Hey Anna.” Lacey calls from the side of me but I am lost in my own little world.
“Hannah! Are you even listening to me?” Lacey asked.
“Sorry, I wasn’t listening, what did you say?” I asked.
I glanced at her and smirked at her just to annoy her.
“What has gotten into you?” Lacey asked.
“Nothing Lace, why would anything be wrong?” I asked.
“Anna, you’re my best friend I can tell when something is wrong.” Lace says.
“Okay, tomorrow when the full moon is at highest point Noah will officially become the Alpha of the golden black pack, he was born two minutes before me and he gets to take the Alpha position just because he entered the world first.” I say.
I love Noah, I just wished it was me that was going to take over the pack or at least share the position with him.
“He can’t even match his own socks.” I say and Lacey starts to laugh but she suddenly goes silent.
I turn to see Noah standing behind me.
“Bye Anna, I will see you later.” Lacey says while running off.
“She is such a girl!” I say.
Lacey used to have the biggest crush on Noah when we were kids; but as she grew up her interest changed, she likes women now, when she told me I was so happy that she was brave enough to come out, but she was worried she thought because of how close we are that I would get the wrong idea about her, I love her no matter who she is interested in.
“Jealousy at its finest.” Noah says.
“I am sorry, you know I love you, it’s just the fact that we are twins and just because you were born two minutes before me we were still created at the same time.”
“I get it, I really do Hannah, I wouldn’t like it if the tables were turned.” Noah says.
“You are such a big softie, you wouldn’t hurt anyone would you.” I say trying to wind Noah up.
“Yeah, you are lucky that you are my sister because I would have had you banished otherwise.” Noah says.
“Unfortunately for me, mom said that it is against the rules you banish your sister just because you get on my nerves, but I can do it to any other pack member.” Noah says.
“It’s a strange world we live in.” I say.
“I came to see you because Alpha Cory isn’t coming tomorrow.” Noah says.
“What a shame.” I say over exaggerating.
“Cory called me because you haven’t answered him in almost a week, he asked me to ask you, if you would video call him.” Noah says.
“No.” I say.
Noah looks at me with soft eyes, I know he hates being the middle man for me and Cory.
“Please.” Noah says.
“Ha, you think I am going to call him? You’re even more stupid than you look.” I say.
Noah growls lowly at me.
“Anna!” Noah says with his Alpha tone just about to come through.
“Cory apologised for what happened on our birthday last year but if I’m honest you made a total fool out of yourself, he stopped it before it went too far.” Noah pleads with his eyes for me to understand.
“Do you know how embarrassing that was for me? You and your friends took the piss out of me for weeks.” I say still feeling a little bit embarrassed for what I did.
“He crushed my feelings Noah.” I say sadly thinking back to the hurt.
“That was down to Cory for that all to stop he threatened to kill each and every one of us if we didn’t leave you alone.”
Cory did that for me? Maybe Cory didn’t mean to hurt me, maybe I could forgive him.
*FLASHBACK*
“Lace, I am bored, Cory is with Noah what should we do?” I asked.
“Maybe we should hang out with them.” Lacey says.
“Nah, I have a better idea.” I say.
We sneak into my dad’s office and open his liquor cabinet.
I pulled out a bottle labeled VODKA, I open the bottle and smell it and because it had no smell I decided to drink it out of the bottle.
I shared it with Lacey and we then decided to go and find the boys.
Lacey said something it wasn’t funny but I had to get Cory’s attention.
I walk up to Cory and kiss him.
“Have you been drinking princess?” Cory asked.
“No, I just uh wanted to tell you that I love you.” I say.
“Anna you’re slurring your words, I can smell that you have been drinking.” Cory says.
I lean in and try to kiss Cory again, but he pushed me away.
“Hannah, I don’t love you and you need to go home now!” Cory yelled at me.
I cried and run away, I decided not to speak to him for the rest of the week while he was here but he made me a promise.
Cory promised to text me every day for a year.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Cory stuck to his promise, he has texted me everyday for a year.
“I stopped texting him last week.” I say to Noah.
“Why?” Noah asked.
“I love him and what if he isn’t my fated mate.” I say.
“Come on everyone in both of our packs know that you and Cory are fated mates.” Noah says.
“I suggest you call him because I think I might just give you a lesson on the rules and you know how long the list is, but I will wait until tomorrow when I officially become the Alpha.” Noah says.
“f**k, fine I will call him now.” I say.
I see Noah smirking as I pull out my phone to video call Cory.
I hate calling him first, it makes me look like I have lost my mean streak.
I hesitate for a second before pressing the video next to his name.
It rings for a split second before Cory answers.
“Hey princess, I have missed you, I have been texting and calling you but you haven’t answered.” Cory says sadly, I hate hurting him but I don’t want to be hurt again.
“I am sorry Alpha Cory, I have been so busy.” I say.
“You never call me Alpha.” Cory says.
“Isn’t that what you are?” I asked.
I see Cory’s face flash a hint of sadness.
“How have you been Cory?” I ask.
“I feel a lot better now I have gotten to speak to you princess.” Cory says.
“Is there any particular reason you have been avoiding my calls?” Cory asked.
“You know being a princess comes at a price, I have been so busy planning my next date.” I say.
Cory growls loudly down the phone his eyes start flickering black.
I giggle.
“I am just kidding, I have been asked on a date tomorrow before the Alpha ceremony though.” I say.
Cory growl gets louder.
“I will not be attending though.” I say.
Cory’s has a face like thunder, I know that if anyone even attempts to date me Cory would kill them.
“Who asked you on this date?” Cory asked.
“Oh, only Oliver, he only asked because Lacey told him no.” I say.
“Lacey, how is she?” Cory asked sounding genuinely concerned about her.
“Lace is fine.” I growl.
“Now, now Hannah-Leigh there is no need to get jealous.” Cory says.
“Don‘t piss me off, just remember that I still haven’t forgiven you yet.” I say.
“Come on Hannah, you know I love you, you’re like the sister I never had.” Cory says.
