Chapter 9

I stayed at Heiran hotel for a couple of days hindi ko na din masyadong inisip yung lalaki sa luxury suite nawala na din sa isip ko and sa pagkakaalam ko nagcheck out na ata sila nung girlfriend nya. I was at the restaurant yesterday and the girls at the table beside mine were talking about him.

Hindi maubos ubos ang adjective nila sa kaka describe kung gaano daw ka hot at gwapo yung lalaking mongoloid. How did I figure out it was him?

Very simple.

Because they are talking about how good he is when he is kissing his blonde girlfriend and they even mentioned that he is super rich that he was able to book the luxury suite of the hotel.  Naubos nga nila yung dalawang oras sa kaka paulit ulit nila ng usapan sa kanya.

Kaya I am pretty sure that its really him.

I looked at my watch and saw that its already 10 in the morning kalalapag lang din ng eroplanong sinasakyan ko from Cebu to Manila.

Yes, I have decided to stay in Manila for a while. I still don’t know kung ano ba ang gagawin ko dito.

You know what’s funnier sa hindi ko alam ko alam kung ano na bang gagawin ko? I just found out that my dad cut all my cards and had my accounts freezed.

Thank God I am not rat poor yet!

I still have the time deposit my mom gave me I guess mabubuhay naman ako ng ilang years gamit yon but hindi na siguro ako aabot don I will soon figure out what I want to do with my life.

Paglabas ko ng airport natanaw ko na kaagad yung kaibigan ko nung college na si Maureen.

Hindi naman kami best friends na as in super close but she’s okay.

Malayo pa lang ako ay naka ngiti na syang kumakaway sa akin.

Maureen is one of the very few people I consider as friend. Way back in college we don’t really like go out a lot or chat and message each other a lot but we remain friends.

Paglapit ko sa kanya agad nya akong niyakap at masayang bineso.

“Gosh Psyche! You are still gorgeous as ever! I cant believe you decided to go here in Manila I thought your Dad wants you to stay in Cebu!” masayang sabi nya sa akin.

I actually asked her to help me find some place to stay she recommended a condo near hers.

“believe me ako din gulat na gulat sa sarili ko at andito ako ngayon haha!” biro ko naman sa kanya.

Maureen laughed so hard.

Alam nya kasi kung gaano kahigpit sa akin si Dad.

“Oh well saka ka na magbalita sa akin at magchika aling marites. Let’s go grab something gutom na gutom na ako I am an hour early sa landing mo since I don’t want to keep you waiting sabi ko sa sarili ko Mau, get your lazy ass ready coz’ the queen is coming.” Biro nya sa akin habang iminumuwestra pa nya kung paano nya kausapin ang sarili nya.

Maureen is such a bubbly girl, college pa lang campus sweetheart na sya kasi sobrang approacheable nya all smiles sya parati at laging tumatawa.

Everyone likes her, and I am her total opposite hindi ko alam kung paano ng aba kami nagging magkaibigan but yeah we are.

I looked at my baggage and saw her driver getting it for me.

Mabilis nyang iniangkla ang mga braso nya sa braso ko at hinila ako papunta sa isang restaurant.

Mabilis na nakahanap kami ng table at agad na umorder si Maureen.

“God Psyche! Its been so long!  Nakakainis ka! Kung hindi mo pa kailanganin ang tulong ko ni hindi mo ako maaalala ano kang klaseng kaibigan?!” nagtatampong sabi nya sa akin habang nagsisimulang kumain.

Natawa naman ako ng kaonti sa sinabi nya.

As bad as it sounds totoo naman yung sinabi nya.

Like I said I was too busy to even remember my own birthday mag chat or magtext pa kaya? I am always on a hustle wherever I go.

“Come on don’t be such a b***h now, ngayon nalang tayo nagkita gaganyanin mo pa ako saka I promised you I’ll tell you everything di ba? Don’t you feel special? I can ask anyone to help me but I chose you because you are the first person that popped in my head when I was thinking who I can contact here in Manila. I know kasi you are so kind and caring you wont let me down.”

Tawa sya ng tawa habang naririnig  nya akong binobola.

“Hindi mo bagay dai! Hindi ka talaga sanay magsinungaling halatang halata gyud saiyo na niloloko mo lang ako hahaha!” tawa ng tawa na sabi nya sa akin.

Hay!

After a week I finally felt a little better. Maybe my decision to go here in Manila isn’t that bad at all.

“Hahaha but I was telling the truth! Ikaw talaga agad ang naisip ko among all of my friends!” I answered to her defensively.

Tawa sya ng tawa sa akin.

“Of course my dear ako lang talaga ang maiisip mo girl kung makasabi ka naman ng among all of your friends parang ang dami mo talagang kaibigan! Sige nga kung talagang may iba ka pang choices sino sino ha? Sige tignan natin!”

Hindi ako naka sagot sa kanya kasi I couldn’t really think of anyone else.

She burst into laughters.

“See? See?! You cant even think of any you liar!” tawa ng tawa na sabi nya sa akin.

Natawa nalang din ako, yeah I guess she’s right.

“Okay okay you win.” Natatawang sagot ko sa kanya.

She genuinely smiled at me.

“But don’t worry I was just butt hurt you know I cant be mad at you,” she said sweetly.

I couldn’t help but smile.

“Thanks Mau, this means a lot to me right now.”I sincerely said to Maureen.

She smiled at me genuinely and then pressed my hand.

“No worries Psyche, I got you.” She answered.

Maureen wiggled her eyebrows like a kid.

“So paano? Let’s go na? I want to show you the condo I picked. I am actually quite not sure if you will like it since I know how grand your lifestyle is I am dead sure you’ve had better condo than this one but I really really want your place to be closer to mine para madali tayong magpunta sa isa’t isa if only the best unit in my condominium was available mas okay sana kung magkasama nalang tayo but sadly, it isn’t.” malungkot na sabi nya.

Natawa naman ako sa itsura nya dahil para talaga syang batang nalugi. Maureen knows me a little much, way back in college sya lang kasi ang nakakasama ko I seldom go out or be with anybody else. The reason was lagi kasi akong nababackstab and sa totoo lang that time girls only wants to brefriend me because of my intelligence and money.

But I guess I was lucky enough to met Maureen and be able to be friends with her. She is the most genuine person I know.
