Chapter 004

1132 Words
Aiden's POV After my argument with Anastasia yesterday morning, I haven't seen or heard from her. She didn't call either and even though I had nothing to say to her, I was a bit worried that she got hurt yesterday because of me. I didn't want to face her anytime soon. Things would officially end between us and work would be kept strictly professional with no personal feelings getting attached. She's a worker I couldn't just let go due to some personal grudge. The external board meeting was today and I had my schedules fully packed so Loyal had to go represent Reign Innovations while the director should have represented Reign Fashions but from Estel's point of view, she suggested that Anastasia should represent the company since her ideas and contributions were always plausible and logical. I rebuked the suggestion but after listening to several reasons from Estel, I gave in to her request and arranged Anastasia's schedule to fit in for the board meeting. I decided to go home this morning. Even if it wasn't the last time, I wanted to see Anastasia as my wife before she left for the conference. But on getting home, I realized her car wasn't in and I saw Estel's red sparkling car at the parking lot. With a big frown on my face, I wondered if Anastasia had left home this early. There was still an hour and fifteen minutes before the meeting starts. "What the hell is going on here?" I asked as I walked in on Luna Riley and Estel, who had a sad look on her face while fidgeting her fingers. "You should be thanking me, Aiden. I just did what was needed to be done" Luna Riley replied and I raised a questioning brow at her. "And what is that, if I may ask?" I answered and she shrugged. "Nothing much, I sent that slut out of the house. She doesn't deserve to be here with you" she responded and my jaw dropped. "You did what?" I asked, not sure if I heard the right thing. "I did what had to be done, son. That w***e has no place in your life. Not in your home and definitely not in your heart. I suggest you cut off her connections at the company too. It's bad luck to have someone like her around!" The Luna replied and I clenched and unclenched my jaw, not knowing why I was so pissed at everything she just muttered. "I am not a child, mother! What I do or not do to people around me should be my decisions solely. I don't need your help and opinions" I said sternly, my gaze hard and my anger threatening to snap. "I'm sorry, Aiden. It was my fault. I didn't stop her from coming here even when I knew it was wrong to treat Anastasia that way. But she is your mother, I just couldn't go against her" Estel muttered with tears in her eyes and I swallowed nothing, staring at her like she was had a clown on her head. I wasn't expecting this reaction at all and I ran my hands through my hair when I saw the tears flow down her face effortlessly. "Don't blame her for what I did, Aiden. She did nothing wrong. See how she's feeling guilty and even crying because I sent out that b***h away from your house!" Mother snapped and I growled impatiently, matching up the stairs without another word. I felt angry that mother sent Anastasia out without informing me of her plans but then again, I've already practically sent her away the moment I handed her that divorce file. But, she had nowhere to go... she had no family and asides Juanita (the gamma's daughter), she had no friends except me. My gaze fell on a familiar looking brown file paper and I rummage through it and found Anastasia's signature in the right places. I felt anger seep through my bones as I slammed it on the desk. Memories of her laying stack naked in an hotel room, her hair all messy flashed through my mind and I fisted my hands hard enough to leave my knuckles pale white. She betrayed me. She had no rights to occupy my thoughts and sympathy. It is only right our commitment towards each other ended immediately. I took my bath and got dressed before heading back down expecting to see no one but I found Estel seating agitatedly on the same spot Anastasia would sit if she was here. I clenched and unclenched my jaw as emotions I would call anger swam through my being. Rage growled within me and I quickly shut him out before descending the stairs two at a time. "Why didn't you leave with Luna Riley?" I asked, trying to be as polite as I could manage. "She wanted me to spend the day with you," she trailed off and just then my phone beeped, interrupting whatever reply I could have given her. I took it out and the caller ID was Dean, my acting Beta and best friend. I picked the call, moving only two steps away from Estel in case it was something really important and confidential. "Where the hell are you, Aiden?" He asked and I rolled my eyes at his question. "At home?" I replied rudely and his silence was a bad sign. "What's wrong?" I asked. "You need to watch the news, man. Just turn on your tv and you'll see" he replied and I didn't miss the urgency in his voice. "You know I don't give a damn about what the news says" I retorted and he blew out his frustration in a loud oozing noise. "It is about Anastasia but I think you really need to see it" he said lastly and hung up. I frowned and picked up the remote control, ignoring all what Estel seemed to be saying. I switched on the TV and the first news that displayed got my eyes dilating and my wolf howling and threatening to come out. With the Headline "IDENTIFIED MISS. ANASTASIA WESLEY IN A CAR FIRE ACCIDENT BY THE EDGE OF A CLIFF DUE TO THE INFLUENCE OF DRUNK DRIVING" the news kept going on about suspected drunk driving. Her body hasn't been found and her car was found in complete ruins deep inside the ocean and just a single part was found at the surface of the cliff. I felt my pupils dilate as realization dawned on me. Anastasia wasn't just gone in my life... She was completely gone without a trace. She might as well be reported dead because the fire caused severe damage and no one could have survived that. Especially not an Omega like Anastasia.
