Aura was headed upstairs holding a tray of food in her hands. A bit shaky and nervous of what she's about to do. She rehearsed the things she want to say to Alpha Manson last night but this morning, it all seemed to have flown out the window. She frowns as she nears the black door, feeling somehow constipated. She rolls her shoulder to feel more ease. As she reached the door, she let out a sigh of relief before pressing the buzzer.
"Yeah come in," It was Alpha Manson's voice front the intercom. She was slightly dismayed to find Alpha Manson is not alone when she opened the door. Baron was there holding a laptop, well at least it wasn't his arrogant father.
"Good morning, Alpha Manson. Good morning Beta Baron," She smiled, making sure she's not staring at him.
"Hey, morning Aura." He beamed at her. "How was your birthday?"
Her smile went wider, slightly surprised he remembered. Which assured her he recalls their conversation
'Perfect!' she thought.
She placed the tray of food on the side of his desk where it will not interfere with his work.
"Apologies, sire. There was no advise you have company. Would you like me to get food for the young Beta?" I'm proud to have grown up polite.
"Charming," the Alpha chuckled which Baron agreed with a smile that made her blush. "Yeah Baron, why don't you stay for breakfast?"
"No worries, sire. I will have it on my way to the gardens. I don't want to be behind with what I have to do for Idris arrival," he explained.
"First things first, though. The deal with the Collins girl done?" The Alpha was suddenly serious. To this the Beta quickly nodded to.
"That was the first thing I accomplished about my tasks, Alpha." He said somewhat proud of himself. He took out a two legal papers and handed it to the latter. "And here are the hard copies of the contract,"
'Contract? Collins? Racquel?' Aura thought out of curiosity. 'Arranged marriage so he hasn't found his mate yet??'
She suddenly regrets her plan of leaving upon remembering the future Alpha will be home next evening. But she also felt a stab of jealousy at the same time annoyance finding out he's betrothed to Raquel.
"Fantastic. Alright I guess we're all good," Manson said to her before looking down at the copies handed to him. She only nodded but didn't move from where she is.
"Baron, we're all done for now. If I need anything I'll give you a call or ask Johnson."
Baron stood up from his seat. "Sure, sire. Thank you,"
Before he turned to leave, he looked at Aura who was still standing near the Alpha's desk. She caught his gaze and he gestured her to leave with him. But she stood still and only shook her head Baron's brows furrowed, confused. His eyes darting back and forth between from her and Alpha Manson. She felt her throat went dry, uncertain if she should speak up. The scene was very awkward until the Alpha looked up at the two of them seemingly sensing their silent exchange of glances. He cleared his throat that brought the two back to their senses.
"Have I not dismissed you two yet?" He asked confused. Baron let out a small smile while Aura drew a sharp breath.
"Oh apologies sire. Since I'm leaving I was asking her to come out with me," Giving emphasis on the word asking, hoping she would do as he says.
The Alpha turned to Aura thinking, until his face turned to a look as if a bulb was lit up in his head.
"Oh I see," This immediately lifted the uneasiness she's been feeling all morning. "Uh Baron, sit down. I need you on this one,"
He gestured him to sit again which he did with a bit of curiosity and wave to Aura to do the same. She felt awkward being asked to sit in front of the Alpha as if an Omega is having a meeting with them. "C'mon now let's not waste time,"
She immediately sat down putting her hands on her lap, staring at her fingers.
"Alright, I'm granting your birthday wish." Alpha Manson paused. "I understand your need to find what you have lost and with that I'll grant your wish,"
Aura's mouth formed an O, and for awhile she was left speechless.
"However," he continued. "As your gratitude to the pack, you are mandated to come back after a month."
Her smile faded. Her shoulders slumped at the thought. What if it's not enough time? What if she did find her family and doesn't want to go back? The Baron looked at the alpha from corner of his eyes waiting for his next speech as he put it in writing.
She took a deep breath then cleared her throat. Still looking down at her palms.
"W-what if it's not enough time, s-sire?"
For awhile no one spoke. Alpha Manson rubbing his chin with his fingers while the future Beta looks at her understanding her point.
"In all honesty, some packs don't even treat their Omegas as just as here." The Alpha nodded to this. Baron continued, "There is a chance you no longer be accepted back in this pack, risking yourself living a life as a rogue."
Aura nodded slowly still not looking up at them. "I understand sire. I take full responsibility of my decision,"
"Therefore, you have to work double time. Make sure you meet the deadline no matter what it takes," Aura clenched her apron nodding. She knows this is not the time to procrastinate.
The Alpha and future Beta exchanged glances. "Good point, Baron."
"We took you in when we found you near our borders," The Alpha started. Aura looked up to meet his gaze.
"The pack provided you with all the necessities you need to survive. It may not be the best," He faced the window,
"Nevertheless, it's a debt meant to be repaid,"
A tear ran down her cheek as she nodded in agreement.
"Wether you found what you're looking for or not, you must return. As you're indebted to the pack, you belong here. If you do otherwise, you will be hunted down and brought back as a slave or prisoner. Or, be treated as an enemy."
She was shocked. An enemy? But she knows there is some truth about her being indebted to the pack. And she knows better than to challenge the Alpha's decision.
"If you are able to come back in time.." This time he turned to her to get a reaction from her. "I'll be assigning you as my son's personal Omega."
She gasped. 'Idris' omega??' This time she's not only shock but confused as to how he ever came up to that decision.
Certainly gives her a better position in the pack, however, she's still disappointed that her mission is timed. As if it's just another task of an Omega. Alpha Manson must have sensed her hesitations.
"Aurora, this is an unusual thing for an Alpha to do. I'm sure other Alpha's of a pack will not grant the same privilege to their Omegas," another truth. "I don't want the pack to think it's alright to leave anytime they want. Loyalty and dedication are two of the most important traits this pack live by."
"I understand sire," as she nods in agreement. "I will abide by your instructions,"
"Perfect," he concluded. "I must say I never failed to notice how you have repaid our kindness with dedication to your service to the pack. And to that I'm grateful to have you as one of us,"
She can see appreciation from his eyes and she can't help but feel the slightest fatherly love she never experienced. She wiped her cheeks with the back of her hands the she stood up and bowed, "It's an honor to have you as an Alpha and I promise to come back in a month. I can't take you enough for this opportunity sire. May the Moon Goddess bless you always,"
The Alpha nodded and smile. "I wish you the best in your journey,"
The alpha, gave them instructions about how she will leave in secret, unknown and unnoticed to the Pack's knowledge. Their conversation that day, is all in writing and legally binding. They were both dismissed after.
