Chapter 50

Desiree's POV

We get up for training, then shower and eat breakfast. While in the dining room we hear that annoying voice and agree with need to lay down some rules

“Anthony, Antoine” the screechy voice resonates through the room

“I think I have morning sickness from pregnancy. Can you get me some ginger ale?”

“No!” Anthony says

“But I’m sick because I’m carrying your pup. I think you should take care of me” she whines

“No!” he says again

“Why, I am your baby’s mother! And when am I moving into the packhouse? I know you want to be close to your baby”

“Okay, let’s get this straight because after today I don’t want to hear anything else outside of the rules, I am about to give you. The current and future ranked members will act as witnesses. Do you want to get your own witnesses?” Anthony asks

“Is all this necessary. You wouldn’t be doing this if I was your mate” she says and touches his arm. He moves his arm out of her reach

“Do you want your own witnesses?” he questions again

“No, it’s not necessary”

“Fine. You are not our mate; we will not be taking care of you during the pregnancy like you are our mate. As Desiree has explained before we will go to appointments that require and ultrasound or if the Doctor needs to speak to us. That is the only dealings we will have regarding this baby until the baby is born. We will not be in the delivery room, but we will be at the hospital for the delivery. You are not moving into the packhouse. Once we confirm that the baby is ours, then we will legally draw up an agreement regarding custody, child support and visitation. We have already spoken to the Doctor, and he will give us any necessary updates or let us know when we need to come to the clinic. So, there is no reason for you to talk to us about anything not pack related. Going forward, you will not approach myself, Antoine, Desiree or any ranked member about anything else but pack matters. We will not be involved in the day-to-day care of you regarding this pregnancy. Do you understand?” he states

“Anthony, why are you doing this?”

“Do you understand Brenda?” Antoine questions

“Yes” she says after a long pause

“Have a good day Ms. Cross” Antoine says

We all sit to finish breakfast as she walks out of the dining room. After we finish eating, we are going to talk to the rogues still in the cells, particularly the one named Zach. His camera is the one we got the most information from.

We get comfortable in the interrogation room, today is going to be a long day. We had Ian question the rogues to find out which one is Zach. Unfortunately, we have 3 different guys saying their name is Zach, so now we must question 3 people instead of 1. The first guy’s actual name was Roger but jumped on the band wagon when he saw them asking who’s here is named Zach. He did want us to know that the only reason he joined the group was for the money. He has a family, and he needed it for them. He was asking to be released since no one was hurt. I don’t see that happening, but we listened and sent him back.

Then Ian brings in a guy who seems very familiar to me. We played the beginning of the recording

“Is that you?” Antoine questions

“Yes?”

“Is there a reason your camera was turned on before everyone else’s?” he asks

“I don’t know. I didn’t turn it on. Like you heard I don’t know how to work those things” he answers

“What is your masters name?” I ask

“No one knows his name; we call him master”

“What pack are you from?” Anthony asks

“I have no pack”

“What pack were you from?” Anthony asks but no answer

“How long have you worked for your master” Anthony asks but again no answer

“Who do I look like?” I lean across the table and ask him

His eyes go wide, and mouth hangs open. He’s looking around the room

“You said I look so much like her. Who’s her?” I ask

“H..H…How did you…” he stutters

“Take a minute. But I want an answer”

“You…You are a witch?”

“You ready to answer my question? Who do I look like?” I question. He refuses to answer, and his mind goes blank.

“Okay, we’ll do it my way then” I say a spell to freeze him in place and touch his hand to read his thoughts

I see a young boy, about 11, driving in the woods with a man who looks like an older version of him, so I guess it’s his father.

They come to a small house that seems to appear out of nowhere. The man tells the boy to stay in the car and he goes in the house. Something outside scares the boy and he runs into the house screaming for his dad. He goes to all the rooms and when he opens the last door, his dad is there buckling his pants and there is a lady on the bed crying

“Who’s that daddy?”

“Get out Zach” the man says sternly

“Why is she crying? Is she hurt?” he asks moving further into the room

“I said get out” he father growls picking up his jacket and dragging the boy from the room

The next memory is the boy sitting in the car again, but he is a bit older, maybe 13. His father and another man are outside talking

“How did she get away?”

“I don’t know. I’ve had the men looking for her for 3 days now”

“I can’t believe you f****d this up. Was she pregnant?”

“Don’t know. Today would have been the day she was tested”

“You better find her. I didn’t do all of this to lose her. And if you don’t be ready to give up something. I paid you a lot of money and better get something back. You have a week”

Next is the boy crying as his father drives away and he is left with another man

“Don’t worry Zach, you are going to be my most trusted warrior”

Zach looks up and I finally get a look at the man. The man is short, about 5ft 7in, brown hair, thin with dark beady eyes. He has a crooked nose, like it was broken and healed wrong. He is wearing all black, like this is the only color he wears.

“You are Alpha Nicholas’s son?” I ask releasing him from the spell

“What did you do to me?” he asks

“You are fine. Just answer my questions. Are you Alpha Nicholas’s son?” I ask again. I whisper to Antoine to call Kane and have Sharon portal him here

“Yes, my father’s name was Nicholas”

“You think I look like the woman who was in that room?”

“How do you know about her?”

“Listen, you asking me questions is just going to make this process longer. I read your memories. I will tell you what I saw, and you will confirm okay”

He shakes his head still in shock. Then Kane and Claudia come in the room with Sharon

“You are the eldest son of Alpha Nicholas. I don’t know how many times he took you to the house but this one time you ran inside and saw him with a woman. To pay The Master for losing the woman he gave you to him. I did not delve further but you were supposed to become his warrior. Now, there is only two reasons you turned your camera on early. You are a spy and want to be sitting in that chair right now because you have an alternative plan from the others. Or you are turning on The Master and you were trying to get us information”

“H…H..How did you?” he says looking confused and dumb

“Oh, and you can stop with the confused and stupid act. It doesn't fit you”

After that his body language changes and he sits up in the chair. He puts on a big smile

“Okay so you have some skill” he says smugly

“Oh, that was nothing. You want to fix your eyes? Is it a spell or contacts?”

“A spell. He puts it on me whenever I leave the castle”

“Good” I touch his hand and look for all the spells on him and remove them

“Now, I removed all the spells including the one that binds you to him and the locator spell. So, tell us about your plans, Zach”

“Wow, you are amazing little sister. Hi little brother” he says with a smirk

He pauses for a minute. I guess for dramatic effect. I had already mindlinked everyone of who he was, when I told them to get Kane.

“Your pause for dramatic effect is not needed. I already figured that out. Why are you here?” I asked, annoyed. He gets more comfortable

“Okay, I guess I read the room wrong. As you saw my loving father gave me to The Master; and no one knows his real name, he goes by The Master. As I was saying, I was given to him as p*****t when dad lost your mom and ultimately you. I was thirteen years old. The Master put me with his head warrior Loc and told him I was his new son and to train me. I grew up as a warrior and when I became old enough, they would use me as a spy. I was sent out to find your mom on multiple occasions. When he couldn’t find you or Renatta he started making other plans. I have always been a part of his army, but I pretty much did what I wanted to do. I broke into his office one day and found out what his plan really was. About three years ago he felt a power surge and knew it was you, so his focus went back to getting you. That’s when my focus became saving you. I have read the prophecy, and he wants to be the one to wield your powers. He believes that he can absorb your powers, making him powerful enough to take over the kingdoms. Because our father was so incompetent he plans to start with the werewolf kingdom then the witches because they did not see him as the amazing warlock, he thinks he is. The man has delusions of grandeur, and he needs you to make it happen”

“So, are you telling us; you are not working with The Master to kidnap Desiree?” Wesley asks

“No. I would never do that. From the time I found out what my father was doing to Renatta I was disgusted. When I asked him that day why that woman was crying, he slapped me and yelled at me for getting out of the car. When I continue to ask about her, he said he had a job to do and that was all. I asked him if he was the one who hurt her, that was the day my father gave me his version of the birds and the bees. Which basically concluded with, we are men, we take what we want, it is a woman’s job to please us so who cares if they cry”

“So, what is your plan?” Anthony asks

“To make sure Desiree is safe. I have always known you were alive. I found Renatta when I was 20 years old, so that was about 8 years after she escaped. She told me what happened to her in that house and how she put you in a couple’s car to save you. She then had a witch friend fragmented those memories so I would not remember, and he could not see them. I guess when you removed all the spells, you fixed them. I promised Renatta if I ever found you, I would protect you”

“So now what?” I ask

“That’s up to you little sis”

“I need to think about this. But I have one question, do you know where Renatta is?”

“I know where she was 10 years ago. I have not seen her since that day”

Zach writes down the information about where Renatta was located. We put Zach back in a cabin by the packhouse with 24/7 guards. We then go to Alpha Trevor’s office to tell him what we learned. He contacts the werewolf council with the information. Which also means he must tell them about me. I talked to Kane about him having another sibling. I am worried about Zach being in line for Alpha over Kane. He said since he received the position via challenge, Zach can’t take it from him just because he is the first born, he would have to challenge him for it. He of course tells me don’t worry. We will address Zach together, after we get rid of the threat against me. He says he is here to help, we shall see. I didn’t feel he was lying once the true Zach came out. I need to contact my Aunt Susan because I think it’s time we found my mom.

I informed my mates and Alpha Trevor about wanting to find my mom. We also need to decide what to do about the other rogues and Amber. We decide to wait until after the announcement ceremony to tackle all of this, because the girls and I start classes in the next couple of weeks.
