Fighting for Love

Chapter 9

Desiree's POV

After my interaction with Tina, my plan is to avoid her by all means necessary. When I get back to the table, Leticia, Sharon and Claudia are talking about the plans for the ball. When I return with no dessert, they look at me questioning. I tell them about the girl and point her and her friends out. Claudia tells us her name is Tina, and she used to date her brothers; she thinks they are going to make her Luna. She is rude to everyone, even me, and I'm the alphas daughter. She likes to start trouble. She is cunning and manipulative with some fighting skills. We are told to avoid her, at least until after my shift and training. Claudia then gets me some cookies to eat while she gives us a tour of the packhouse and territory.

The area is impressive. There is a gym, pool and entertainment center in the packhouse. These are in the basement, along with a storage space and laundry area. The first floor is the kitchen, dining area, sitting room, ballroom and a conference room. The second floor held another meeting room and all the ranked members' offices, along with a library. The third floor had guest rooms on one side and the gamma family occupied the other side. The fourth floor was the alpha family on one side and the beta family on the other. Their residences were secured with biometric locks. Leticia was very interested in this, she is fascinated by technology and is in college learning IT Technology. Sharon fell in love with the kitchen. She loves to cook and was accepted to Johnson & Wales in Charlotte, for their culinary program. She will be starting her 2nd year in the fall. My favorite place was the gardens; they had all kinds of vegetables and fruit; they even had an apple orchard. They had their own chickens and cows too. Claudia said they want to make themselves as self-preserving as possible. There was a town center with stores and shops. They were all owned by pack members. Claudia said her dad is big on helping pack members achieve their goals. Their main business is a tech security firm her father runs. They do installation and service of all kinds of security stuff; like home security, office security, safe rooms and monitoring. Both pack members and humans work for the company and the headquarters is in Greenville. Leticia asked for a tour of the company because that sounded exactly like what she wants to pursue as a career. My favorite part of the tour is the lake. Claudia said from the sky, and if you walk around it, it’s shaped like a crescent moon, and this is how the pack got its name. The lake is beautiful with clear water and a waterfall and hot spring a bit further north. Wildflowers are growing all around it. I think I have found my new happy place. We ended our tour right at dinner time. We ran up to our rooms to freshen up and headed back to the dining room.

I again run into Tina and her friends, Amber, and a girl named Ashley. We are all online for food when she bumps me again, this time spilling my food.

“Human girl, didn’t I tell you last time to stay out of my way” she smirks.

“Again, you bumped into me. And this time you made a mess”, I replied, wiping food off my clothes

“You made a mess b***h, not me. You are the weak ass human who keeps getting in my way. I have warned you once, don’t let it happen again” she says sternly.

“That’s enough, Tina. You bumped into her, and the mess is your fault. Desiree and her friends are guests here. There’s no reason to behave like this”, Claudia says, stepping beside me.

“It would be you, Claudia, to stick up for her. You are just as worthless as she is. She is human and doesn’t belong here. When I become Luna, her kind won’t step foot in our territory” she gloats.

“Well, since my brothers won’t marry anyone but their fated mate, which is not you. I don’t see you becoming Luna of this pack at all. So, your delusions about being able to forbid someone from our territory is all made up in your head. And Amber, as the gamma’s daughter, you should be carrying yourself better than this.”

“You don’t tell me what to do, Claudia. You ain’t nobody”, Amber yells.

“You can’t talk to me that way” Tina screams and raises her hand to hit Claudia.

“TINA”, Anthony yells, and she stops mid-slap

“What the f**k are you doing?” Antoine questions.

“Claudia was rude to me and Amber, and this human has bumped into me twice today. I was just showing them they can’t treat their future Luna this way. She is only human and shouldn’t be here anyway.” She says sweetly to them, touching Anthony’s arm.

“You must have lost your mind to think you can raise your hand to our sister. And we have already told you; you are not our fated mate, so you won’t be Luna. Desiree, Leticia and Sharon are guests of the alpha’s family. You will leave them alone. And Amber, you know better. Now leave”, Antoine says.

“But baby, I….” she starts but stops as soon as Antoine glares at her. Anthony takes her hand and leads her out of the dining room.

“Sorry about that ladies” Antoine says as he helps us clean the mess,

Leticia, Sharon and I look at each other when we all sit to eat. She is going to be a big problem.
