Alpha Tristan's POV
With blazing eyes, I turned to Scott. I was patient with him. I was not going to tell myself I was not glad he broke it off with Vivienne. I was. Having eyes on her for years was something only I and my Beta knew. It was not meant to happen, but it did, and now she was pregnant with my child. I knew she wanted me to defend her. Stop Scott from saying those words, but I wanted to see what she would do.
A part of me believed that she still loved him. It was in her eyes. Yes, there were traces of anger and hurt. But it was there. It was not so clear, but it was right there. I wanted her to hate him. I wanted that love she had for him to be eliminated. The more he insulted her, the more the love disappeared, but she was hurting.
I knew Vivienne was a strong girl. She grew up in a rough household. Ever since the death of her mother, I knew she had to go through a lot to be where she was, but I also saw Scott make her soften. I saw Scott make her smile. I wanted to do that. I wanted to be the only one to make that happen. Instead, I watched her ache.
It took me some time, but I finally spoke. However, it only gave her the chance to leave the room. Her scent was faint, and I knew it meant she was leaving. A part of me wanted to chase after her and apologize for Scott's behavior, but I held myself back. “Father, you should not believe anything she said. She is bad news,” Scott said, and I said nothing. My eyes left Scott to the door.
“Father,” Scott called out when he realized my attention was not on him. “She-”
“Leave, Scott” I interrupted
“But-”
I turned to him with an annoyed gaze that made him swallow his words. He bowed before leaving the room. The doctor then spoke next. “Can I speak, Alpha?” she asked, and I stroked a nod, giving her the go ahead.
“She needs to be careful. From what I know, if she is not careful with the child, she might lose it,” the doctor explained her worries.
“Is that all?” I asked, and she nodded. “You can leave. You will be called when needed,” I told her. She bowed and exited.
Slowly, I picked up my glass of wine from the table and took a sip. My Beta stood some distances before me which caught my attention. I studied his face, then sighed. “Speak” I commanded.
“Would you go ahead with this, Alpha?” he asked, then paused. “I am not questioning your decisions, but I think it would cause a lot of controversy if you show your interest in her. She is Scott's ex mate. And the council,” he paused once more.
“What about them?” I asked.
“They might not accept the union,” he replied
I stared at him for a moment. He looked away, avoiding my gaze, but I understood what he was talking about. However, I did not care. This was Vivienne. The girl I have had eyes on for a long time. I was not going to let anything stop me now that I had an opportunity. She was going to be mine.
“You don't need to worry about that. I am the Alpha and I want her. And she I will get,” I said firmly.
“Send more gifts to her house. Ensure everyone is aware that it is from me,” I commanded. Quickly, he went to do as asked. I had waited for weeks to do this and I was wrong. I needed to act fast. The faster I get her to fall in love with me, the better. She was pregnant for me, anyway. I don't think it would be that hard.
Three days later, I decided to send her a letter with the new sets of gifts I was sending to her. But I got no reply. I sent my Beta to directly give her this said letter, but I was informed that she did not seem delighted to have it. After another three days, I had to send for her. It was a long time to get to reply to my letters, but if she did not want to do that, she could reply to them face to face.
I was seated in my study, waiting while having a glass of wine. Thirty minutes later, my Beta walked in. Alone. “Where is she?” I asked.
“She didn't wish to come, Alpha. Permission to bring her in with force?” he requested.
Was she avoiding me? Why? I sighed. “No. Leave her be,” I instructed. I would not want to force her. Certainly, that would not make her fall in love with me. Another day passed and there was nothing from her. No matter how patient I was, not seeing her for one week was too much, so I left the pack house, heading for her house.
Halfway through, my Beta spoke. “Some guards just informed me she is in a diner. Should we head there?” he asked.
“Yes,” I gave my reply immediately.
When we arrived at the diner, everyone knew who it was. I could see her through the glass walls of the diner. My Beta opened the door for me. The moment I stepped out and turned in the direction I had seen her, I frowned. She was no longer there. “Should we look for her, Alpha?” my Beta asked.
My eyes remained on the table, I had seen her before, shaking my head. “No. I will find her myself,” I told him.
“You all can head back to the pack house,” I told him. He was skeptical about that but still left without a word.
Vivienne thought she could hide from me, but she does not know what desperation can make me do. Her scent was not far away and, with a little calculation, I knew where she had headed to. The park.
She had a lot of explaining to do. And this hide and seek, for her, I would play it.
