Chapter 11 Tryouts Part 3

1236 Words
Sin’s POV        “How in the world did you do that girl?” Claire asked as we walked to the trees to sit down. Jake just announced we would meet in Ring A at one, so I wanted to enjoy the shade and relaxation before round two.        “I didn’t do anything special, just managed to stay on my own two feet.” I laid my head against the trunk, trying to forget about what had already happened since I had awakened in the morning and what was still left to happen.        “No, you got your shoulder popped out of place and then put it back and then walked away like nothing.” She shouted and I winced at the tone of her voice.       “Wait you what?” Jake exclaimed as he joined us.       “It’s true, she popped her shoulder out of place when that boy landed on her on the ground, and she got up and still managed to make him submit before she had Xander hold her arm while she popped it back in place and then walked away.” Eva explained to him. "Walked away like it was just a pulled muscle and nothing more."       I could feel all three sets of eyes on me, I might as well explain., I thought to myself as I sat up and took a deep breath.      “Truth, it really wasn't anything. But, that isn’t the first time that has happened. I used to spar with my brother when I was young, and I remember one time dad had me go against my brother and his friend at the same time to advance my training. Well one thing led to another and my shoulder got popped out of place. It hurt, but my will to survive was more, so I put it back as quick as it popped out and continued the sparring contest until it was over. Dad and my brother tried to make me stop but I wouldn’t. Anyway, dad took me to a doctor not long after that to make sure there was no permanent damage and when they examined me, they said there wasn’t. However, they told dad I was double jointed or something which would help me in the long run, none of them could believe the pain tolerance that I exhibited at such a young age. They first thought I had some kind of condition where people can’t feel pain, but after putting me through a ton of test they ruled that out.” I started laughing and they all three just stared at me confused. “Dad always said I was the toughest person he ever met.”       “That is the craziest thing I have ever heard Sin, are you flipping crazy?” Jake sounded upset.       “Well crazy I might be. But I got myself into this so I might as well see it through. Trust me I have seen much worse.” Again, they all just stared so I held my eyes while I held my arm out, “See that scar?" I pointed to the now lighter purple colored scar between my wrist and elbow, "That’s where my stepfather threw me into the fireplace and I hit it with so much force it broke clean in two and the bones protruded through the skin, but I still had to fight to survive.” They examined my scar, once they were done, I leaned forward and turned my back to them pulling my shirt up, “See those nasty scars? Those are from my stepfather throwing me into a glass coffee table and it shattering on impact, my adrenaline was pumping so hard that I didn’t even realize that not only did it cut me while I was laying there and trying to get up, but I had several pieces embedded in my skin that moved and tore my back as I fought, again to survive.” The next one I wasn’t too proud to show but I turned around and raised the front of my shirt, where what I called my Frankenstein scars rested against my body. “And these are from the plates and pins that had to be inserted while I was in the hospital to stabilize my rib cage because I had so many breaks that could have pierced my heart.” I pulled my shirt back down and leaned back against the tree. “So yes, crazy I might be, but I will see this through, and believe me a dislocated shoulder is nothing.”        “I am so sorry you had to go through all that, you should have had someone taking care of you,” Jake said with so much sincerity it warmed my heart. I noticed the other two were silently crying for me. “I will never second guess you and I am sorry I did in the first place. You have seen more in your short fourteen years than any of us could imagine. And no matter the outcome of the rest of the day, I always will have your back. And as far as I am concerned I will always be on your team."        Huffing at the girls, I finally looked to them both. “Hey, don’t cry for me. I am alright. I appreciate the concern, but I heal extremely fast and can be as tough as I need to be.” I gave them a half smile trying to cheer them up, this was why I never told people a lot about me, I hated to feel pitied.        “Well, if no one has told you, I am here to tell you, you are kind of awesome, a total bad ass.” Jake laughed. "And seriously I am in your corner, and if it comes down to it, you are the one I am hollering at to be in mine.        For the first time that day I laughed loudly and instantly felt a weight lifted off my shoulder. I turned to smile at Jake,“Awe thanks man. And anytime!”       We sat there for the next little while talking about the day and how gruesome it had been. Jake told us how Jess didn’t fair too well but she was still standing so it would be me and her before either one of us had to face Jake or Xander.        Truthfully, Jake I didn’t want to face at all, I felt like he knew who I was and I had nothing to prove to him, going against him didn't set right with me in the least. Jake was starting to feel more and more like the big brother that I had so terribly missed.        Xander, he was a different story, a part of me didn't want to face him either, I had heard the rumors and knew that deep down he had made it his mission to make me submit, and I knew one of us would be severely hurt before either of us gave in. Then there was another part that was ready to face him, maybe then he would get off that high horse he rode around on and leave me alone.       If I was even left standing after the match with Jess, then I would take the next step I had too, but I would just have to wait and see how the afternoon turned out.
