CHAPTER 15

COULD SHE BE THE ONE? Rakiel’s soft blue eyes darted about the place, filled with worry as she paced about, waiting for the other members of her family. She rubbed her chest, where her heart is. Where she ached for her missing child – Amerie. Releasing a sob, she howled over the rushing waters of the waterfall. Her sobs swallowed by the sounds of the waters just as her body is suddenly enclosed in a warm embrace from her mate. “Honey,I can feel your emotions.” “Could she be the one, Chai?” she sobbed into his chest. “I am quite certain she’s the one. This must be her first time of using her powers.” he assured her in his usual calm but dangerous voice. He was certain that surge of power came from their daughter. “But she’s not yet eighteen. Silver wolves only get their wolves at that age.” “Something must have triggered it. It could be fear or anger. Anything could have.” He rubbed her back as he wondered which was it that made his daughter release her power. “Oh, my poor child.” Rakiel sobbed. “Maybe she’s hurt or dead.” “Don’t say that, my love!” he raised her head up, looking into her soft blue eyes. “She’s not dead. I don’t believe that fate will make us feel her and then take her away from us. I believe she is alive and I promise you that I will find her.” he pressed a kiss on her forehead. “Take your mind off that thought.” “In two months’ time, she’ll be eighteen and come into her power.” Rakiel said, pulling away from her mate to sit on a smooth stone. “We have to find her before then.” Midriel chipped in looking at both his parents. “She will need help with her powers.” He had gotten his powers and wolf at the same age and required help. Rakiel raised her eyes to her husband. “How do we locate where the surge came from? The Cravers?” All three fall into silence as they thought of the only people to help locate the power surge. He frowned as he sat beside her and pulled her into his arms, calming her through their bond. “I will find her myself. I don’t want to involve them.” His dislike for them stemmed from way back when they tried to manipulate his father to mate with the wrong mate and did the same with him. They almost made him choose Rissi. “You have to let go of your hate for them.” “I can’t help it. Hearing their names still triggers those bad memories.” Rakiel smiled, kissing his cheek. “How soon will you leave?” “Today. The earlier, the better. The marks will still be fresh,” he rises, pulling her up with him. “I will leave you two in charge and tell Gary and Finch.” “Be safe,” she whispered, resting her head on his chest. “The goddess be with you.” “You two,” he placed a kiss on her hair. “Heads up about Rissi. She’s asking abouth the pack run.” Rakiel shook her head slowly. “When will she give up?” “Probably never.” “As do her friend. She won’t stop pushing Fidelia to me,” Midriel chuckles lightly. “She always seem to be everywhere I am. Except for now.” “Keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t get caught in her trap,” he pulls away. “It’s best if I leave without you two showing up to wish me good bye. That way no one can suspect anything.” “Bye and take care,” Rakiel says as she lets him go. Leaving his family behind he headed back to the mansion, linking Gary and Finch of his departure. “Is everything fine, Chai?” Gary asked as they met at the entrance of the mansion, where a car was waiting for him. “I prefer not to say, Gary. Not that I don’t trust you, but this is somewhat personal and I will like to keep it to myself for now.” He knew Gary was not the type to talk, but for the sake of his daughter he had to keep this a secret. He was only doing this with as much hope as he could muster. “No offense taken. Just be safe. I will watch over and assist rakiel and Midriel. “I am counting on you. Thanks for everything, Gary.” They hugged before Cahai entered the waiting car. As the car’s windows rolled up, he saw Rissi standing at one of the windows inside the house, spotting an expression he couldn’t quite place. For the first time, her eyes were not lustful and full of longing. He refused to read any meaning to it and focused on the task ahead of him. He closed his eyes and with the help of his tracking skills, he revisited the experience of the surge of power. Looking for its location. A ping sounded in his head as he picked on the location. “Turn towards the east, Lance,” he said to his driver and one of his trusted members. “Okay, Alpha.”
