Chapter 3- She is Human

1426 Words
Alpha Sebastian POV “I have found our Luna, but there is a problem.” I say, sighing slightly. “What is the problem? Is she from an enemy pack? Being held prisoner? Been sentenced to death? In critical condition in the hospital?” Jeff runs off a load of possible scenarios but he does not get the actual issue. I sigh, but Jason replies before I can. “Thankfully, none of those scenarios are the issue. Though I cannot see it being an issue, it is going to be hilarious to watch.” He says, smirking. “What do you mean?” Jeff asks, now he is really confused. “My mate, well she is a human.” I say. “And what is wrong with that?! You specieist wolf!” Jeff shouts, his protection of his Luna already outweighing his loyalty to me. I smirk at the thought, at least she will have one hell of a protector both now and when she steps into her role. “No, my wolf and I have already accepted her. But I have a job for you, it is technically two in one.” I say. “What are they? I am guessing one is look after the Luna?” Jeff asks excitedly. “Kind of. The first thing I want you to do it find out about her, you see I met her in the local bar last night and didn’t even get her name. Then I want you to protect her from afar. You see she is human and does not know about our world yet.” I say, wincing a bit at the part about me not even knowing her name. Not my finest moment to be honest, and while I want to run to the bar and find her, I know that would only freak her out and push her further from me. Instead, I know that Jeff will be the perfect man to dig up information about her and protect her. “Of course, alpha. But may I ask why you are not approaching her?” “I need to make sure that she is safe for this pack. While the moon goddess does not make mistakes, I want to make sure that being bonded to her is the right thing for her. I do not want to turn her life upside down if it turns out that she is already happy with someone else.” I say, the thought of her not being with me kills me but at the same time I will not ruin her life or happiness if she has already found it. Instead, I will just watch from afar, protecting her for the rest of her life and just hoping that the chance to make her mine would arise. Jeff POV Hearing that my alpha would be willing to sacrifice his happiness for his mates makes me feel so proud to be serving him and this pack. But it also means that I want to make sure that the right decision is made for both parties, which is going to be difficult. A few days later The past few days have been interesting. Turns out that Brenda already knows the new Luna. Apparently, they bonded when Brenda went into the university to give a talk about the impact of policing small towns. Kamiko had approached Brenda after the lecture and had asked if she could see the materials which had been referenced, as she was thinking of doing a paper on a similar topic and felt that a connection could be made. Brenda has nothing to do with the police, but she did write an article in the local paper about her experience and how it differed from the experience one may go through if in a bigger town. The local university is founded by us werewolves and our pack is one of the biggest stake holders, so to discover that our Luna is attending it was a bit of a shock. Brenda was excited when she heard and told me everything she could remember about Kamiko. The main thing she remembered was her kindness, apparently Kamiko had witnessed an argument going on just outside of the room and had intervened, this surprised Brenda but always stuck in her mind as others had just walked past and rolled their eyes. So, I got an idea; I asked Brenda to go to the bar and befriend Kamiko, that way if I started to hang around the bar it would not seem so suspicious. Of course, with Kamiko studying criminology it will make protecting her harder without her noticing but hopefully I can pull it off. Brenda was really excited and headed out that evening with some pack members, since then she has seen Kamiko twice at the bar and has even arranged a lunch date with her tomorrow. My mate sure does work fast, Kamiko POV It has been a few days since I saw tall and handsome but someone else has been here every time, I work my shift and it is starting to freak me out. But I did learn that the man’s name who I danced with was Sebastian. Brenda wouldn’t stop asking me questions today at lunch, but when I mentioned tall and handsome, she smiled knowingly. I pushed a bit and found out that his name is Sebastian. I have found myself throughout the rest of the day either whispering, mumbling or mouthing his name, it just rolls off of the tongue and a feeling of warmth feels me every time I say his name. I am currently in the bar cleaning and preparing it for opening time, we normally have a lady to do this, but she called in sick and I offered to do it. Afterall, I need the extra money and it keeps me busy for a few hours. I am so engrossed in my job and the music playing on my phone in my pocket that I do not notice that someone has entered through the open front door. “Hello Kamiko.” I hear a deep voice say behind me. I whirl around and come face to face with a tall man, he looks to be in his mid-twenties, he has brown hair and hazel eyes. He looks like a kind man. I look at him confused. “How do you know my name?” I ask suspiciously. “Sorry, I didn’t mean tot scare you. Its just my wife has talked about you so much the last few days that I feel like I already know you. I am Jeff, Brenda’s ma… husband.” He says, smiling at me while extending a hand. I smile at him to be polite and shake his hand. What did he mean by ‘ma…’? “It is nice to meet you. Brenda has mentioned you, said you come here often but I have not seen you here before.” I say, not meaning to interrogate him. But instead of being offended, he leans back and lets out a boisterous laugh. “I tend to come here with my manager and CEO, but I am the quiet one so probably the one people notice the least.” He replies, making me nod in understanding. “Makes sense. But what can I do for you? We are not open yet.” I reply, smiling at him. “I know, just saw the door open and thought it was a good time to pop in and introduce myself. Did you have fun today with Brenda at lunch?” He asks me, deflecting my line of inquiry. “I did, it was nice to finally start networking with someone outside of university. There is only so much I can go out clubbing and stuff, though she did ask me a lot of personal questions.” I say, mumbling the last part as I started thinking about it. “Yeah, sorry about that.” Jeff scratches the back of his head, “She is a curious person, many would say nosy. She likes to really get an understanding of someone who she wants to befriend, so that she doesn’t offend them.” “Makes sense.” I reply. After a few more minutes of chit chat, Jeff leaves saying that he will be back tonight. Why he felt the need to tell me that I do not know, I just shrug it off and get back to cleaning and preparing the bar for opening time.
