I smirked, feeling her tongue swirl around my mushroom tip, licking every tiny drop before it drips on the floor.
“You’re enjoying it, aren’t you?” the woman that kneeled before me said. I laughed, throwing my head backward.
“You know me well enough,” I said, chuckling.
Licking her lips, she stands up.
“Should we go for round two?” she whispers seductively. My green emerald eyes moved down her voluptuous chest. Pink n*****s stood in attention as I slid my hand down her back.
“I think that’s enough for today,” I said, kissing her temple.
Nodding, she obediently heads to the bathroom. I watched her hips move from side to side—a red hand-marked on her left cheek.
Sighing tiredly, I laid down. The bed creaked as my enormous and heavy body let all its weight down. Then, hearing a knock, I ask who it is.
“Alpha?” the man said. I smiled as I realized who it was.
“Come in!” I said, sitting up. Peeking inside, I find my Beta and best friend smiling at me. “When did you come back?” I asked, standing up.
Shaking hands, he backs away.
“You need a bath, my king,” My Beta said. I chuckled as I patted his shoulders.
“It seems you don’t change, do you?” I said, chuckling, “Tell me, Remus, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be with your mate right now?”
“I know, but I have something to tell you,” Remus said, turning serious. I slightly frowned.
“What is it?” I asked as the bathroom door opened, and Remus moved his eyes towards the woman.
“Beta,” she said, bowing nervously. Remus looked back at me. He was raising his eyebrow.
I raised my hands and laughed. Then, excusing herself, Remus watches the girl flee.
“You need to stop playing around, Allerick,” Remus said, making me laugh.
“What’s wrong with it? I’m just enjoying it,” I said, retaking a seat. Remus crossed his arms and stared at me, “Now tell me, what were you going to tell me before she interrupted us?”
“The witch,” Remus said. I stopped smiling and stared at him.
“What did you just say?” I asked. Did I hear him wrong?
“The prophetic witch has arrived. We found her on our way here. She said she would like to meet with you soon,” Remus explained. I clasped my hands together and started scoffing.
“She wasn’t supposed to come here,” I spat, standing. Pinching my nose, I started pacing the room up and down. “She was supposed to come in, what five years or ten? How come she came before?”
“We still don’t know,” Remus said, crossing his arms, “All I can tell you is that she looked impatient, and I don’t like it, my king. It would be better if you meet her soon,” Remus said, making me stare at him. Sighing, I ruffle my black raven hair. “Get a bath, and I will arrange a meeting with everyone.”
“No,” I said, stopping him. Scratching my neck, I look towards the window. “I know when I will meet her. You may leave.”
Remus nodded and left the bedroom. I walked up to the enormous window. Staring outside, I notice my people talking cheerfully. I couldn’t let my people suffer. Not like all the others have.
…
Putting a long white sleeve on, I stare at myself in the mirror. My black raven hair was tied in a messy ponytail. And my green emerald eyes glowed at me the more I stare into them. Deciding to leave my shirt half opened, I put my hand on my trouser pocket and turned around. Grabbing my long cloak, I walk out of the room. My Gamma awaited me with two of my other men.
“What do we have today?” I asked as I greeted several pack members.
“We received a report that the mages are moving south,” My Gamma said, “Also, our men have returned.”
“Yes, I’m aware. Remus already came over,” I said smiling, “Let’s prepare a welcoming banquet for them.”
Nodding, my Gamma smiles.
“By the way, where is my sister?” I asked as I turned and looked at him.
“Princess Evelyn?” My Gamma asked, surprised.
“Yes? Where is Evelyn?” I asked, frowning.
“Alpha she…” my Gamma muttered but stopped. Following the movement of his eyes, I look outside. We heard some swords clashing. I moved closer and stopped once I saw who it was.
“Why is she there?” I asked, growling. My sister Evelyn was four years younger than me. She was the only family member I had and the apple of my eyes. But she defies my orders in any way possible. “EVELYN!” I growled loudly. Everyone calm and looked up at the window.
“Hi, brother!” Evelyn said happily. I growled at every other man around her. Flinching, they scatter away. “Hey, what are you doing?” she asked as I glared at her angrily.
“In, NOW!” I order. Evelyn huffed and threw the sword to the side.
Descending the stairs quickly, I find my sister with her arms crossed.
“How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from the training grounds?” I said, grabbing her arm.
“You should know I won’t be a little princess locked under your command, brother!” Evelyn spat back. I growled and dragged her with me. Then, opening the throne room, I walk with her and sit her down on my throne.
“This will be your place, one day,” I said as she glowered at me, “You know what you have to be doing!”
“No, this might be my place one day, but I have to become a powerful woman, brother. You only want me to be drinking tea, eating, and behaving like a doll. I won’t!” Evelyn retorted. I slammed my hand on the armrest next to her.
“Why do you disobey me?” I asked, frowning, “can’t you do as I ask?”
“Because you know things don’t go how you want. You know we are dying, and we don’t know when it will be our turn,” Evelyn whispered. I flinched at her words.
Moving away from her, I grit my teeth.
“Brother, you know I don’t mean to say it, but it’s the truth. Our kind is disappearing, and neither you nor I know when we will be next,” Evelyn said, grasping my arm, “All I want is to do what I desire. So please let me, brother.”
I yank my arm away from her touch. I hated when she talked about this.
“Leave Evelyn,” I said, gritting my teeth, “Put a dress on, and don’t come out of your room.”
Sighing, she walks down the stairs and out of the room. I moved to my seat and sighed tiredly. It seems like things were getting out of hand. Hearing the doors open, Remus walks in with two other pack members.
“My Alpha,” Remus said as they bow. Raising his head, he looked at me worriedly.
“Something wrong?” I asked, frowning.
Behind them, I heard a commotion. Moving my eyes to see what it was, I see someone in a long black cloak. Her body moved as it stepped into the hall and passed by Remus. Stopping on the last stair, the person smiles.
“Nice to finally meet you, Alpha of the wolves,” the voice of a woman said. Feeling a shiver, I realize who it was.
“Why did you come? I said I would let you know when I would meet with you,” I said, furrowing my eyebrows. The woman looked at me with thin lips.
I could barely see her. The black cloak covered half her face.
“It’s not when you want, but when I say so,” the woman mumbled. Her deadly aura didn’t go unnoticed by me.
“Remus, what’s this about?” I asked him, but my Beta just shrugged his shoulders. “Fine, what do you need?” I asked the woman.
“A table and chair are enough,” she said. I nodded towards Remus.
They placed a wooden table and a chair in less than five minutes in the middle of the hall. Then, waving for them to close the doors, I wait patiently for her to begin.
Taking an arm out from under her cloak, she placed it on the side. I observe as she slides it, and cards are revealed. Moving her hand, she pulls six of them out. She flips one and stops before moving the second one. Moving her hand again, she flips the second, third and fourth.
“Hmm,” she mumbles. I watch her, bored.
“Something interesting?” I asked as I leaned my head on my hand. Smiling, I wait for her. The woman raised her head and stared at me.
“Do you know why I came before?” the woman asked.
“No,” I shrugged, “I’ve been waiting for you to tell me that.”
She sighed and flipped another card. Her fingers fold as she stops once again.
“Ten, that’s next,” the woman whispered.
“Ten?” I frowned.
“Yes, ten of your kind shall die soon,” the woman said and flipped another card. “Someone close to you shall also die.”
I froze as I heard her words.
“What did you just say?” I mutter. My heart started beating fast.
“Someone close,” the woman repeated. Lowering her hand, she kept her head high. She was looking at me. What was she even thinking?
Smiling, she moved her hand and turned the last card. She lowered her head and smiled devilishly.
“Your death is inevitable, Alpha. Just like the other six, you’re destined to die,” the woman in the black cloak said. She smirked as she flipped an extra card. “But there is one,” she said.
“Who?” I asked her.
“The woman who holds the eye of the codex. The one you will wish to have killed since the moment you laid eyes on her. And the one who can either be your savior or your doom,” The woman said, laughing.
Her laughter echoed around the hall. My men and Beta presently looked at me. I gripped the armrest as I kept listening to her. I know this was worrying them.
Trying to remain calm, I laugh.
“What can a woman do? No woman has saved a king. Especially an Alpha wolf,” I said, laughing.
The woman stopped smiling. Thin lips and glowing eyes looked back at me. It was the first time I was seeing her eyes, and they looked dangerous.
“You will regret those words,” she said as she stands up. Grabbing her cards, she hides her arms under the long black cloak. “Heed my words, king. The one you least expect can be your savior. But if you continue being impertinent and stubborn, your kingdom, the last race of surviving wolves, will vanish from this earth. So beware of what you say.”
“Nothing shall happen,” I mutter, annoyed.
“You will remember my words in a few years,” the woman with the black cloak whispered as she turned and walked out of the room.
Everyone stood stunned as she disappeared from our sight. I growled and slammed my hands on the armrest.
“Out everyone except for Remus!” I retorted.
I couldn’t believe this.
“Allerick, what will you do?” Remus asked worriedly. I was still thinking about what the witch said.
“Monitor all the pack members and try to find any clues on that so-called woman the witch mentioned,” I ordered.
“But we don’t know how she looks,” Remus said. He was right; we were clueless.
“Find, investigate with anyone. You know people,” I said, “And ask Marcus to monitor Evelyn. I’m worried for her,” I said, pinching my nose, “You’re dismissed.”
“But my king,” Remus insisted. He was worried for me, but I couldn’t let them see me bothered too much by it.
“Go, I’m fine,” I lied.
Smiling weakly, Remus nodded and left.
For the last ten centuries, our kind has been dying. Then, unexpectedly, we found out why. One of our deceased Alphas, or more specifically, my grandfather, discovered what was causing it.
A thing called the Eye of the Codex caused this. According to what my grandfather barely could find, a woman has the eye that sees it all. Legend says a woman born with unique beauty and strength like no other would be gifted with the eye which sees it all. The eye had the right to take one’s life, no matter how many of us were. But the strange thing is that for the last centuries, we have been searching for her. We don’t know who or what she is. All we know is a woman. The witch described a woman who could be my savior but my doom as well, but was she the one who carries the eye?
When my father was alive, he searched everywhere, but nothing came back. And our kind perished quicker than expected. So now I’m the last Alpha from my descendants to be alive—the Seventh Alpha. My sister is a princess, and she would take my place in case something happened. That’s another reason everyone has been asking me lately when I would get a Luna—my queen, the one to carry my heir before it’s my turn.
But now that the prophetic oracle has appeared. I had my doubts. This person was only supposed to come when the next Alpha King is next to die. And that was in ten years or so, according to what she last said two centuries ago.
But she said someone close would die and someone could help us? Was she referring to my sister and not me?
Feeling frustrated, I massage my face. Then, groaning angrily, I stand up and walk towards the vast windows. I look over the palace walls. My pack, or what we call now kingdom, was the last surviving group of wolves. I had three thousand pack members under my rule.
My people are the ones I couldn’t leave to suffer. Everyone here was aware of what was happening. Everyone knew they could die at any moment. And I wouldn’t let that happen to them. Not while I’m alive.
“I need to find her,” I mutter to myself as I look at the bright sun. “No matter how long. I have to find her before I die.”
…
The next day I sat in the dining room. Evelyn ate dejectedly.
“What’s wrong, Eve?” I asked. It was the nickname I had given her since she was born.
“Nothing,” Evelyn said, sighing, “I heard the witch came.”
I tensed up.
“Who told you?” I said, bending the fork I was holding.
“Everyone knows, brother,” Evelyn flinched, “just tell me, are you next?”
“NO,” I said, standing abruptly, “She came to say that there’s someone who can help us.”
“Really?” Evelyn asked with hope in her voice, “It means we can live?”
“Maybe,” I mutter, “She didn’t explain well.”
“But brother, we have to find that woman!” Evelyn said, standing. Reaching for my shirt, she grabs it. I could feel her hands tremble, “Please.”
I sighed and turned to hug her. Evelyn sighed as she leaned her head on my chest.
“Did she mention anything else?” Evelyn whispers, “Like, how many years left?”
Now that she mentions it, I had forgotten about it.
“She mentioned it,” I mumble, frowning.
“How many?” Evelyn asked, moving her head to look up at me. Her green eyes resemble mine.
“She just said a couple of years. But I don’t know why she said that,” I said, pushing her slightly, “Why don’t you finish eating, and I will let you know more when I find more information about it?”
“Father said the same thing, Allerick!” Evelyn retorted.
“Please, Evelyn,” I said, reaching for her face. Then, leaning over, I kiss her temple, “Don’t worry now.”
Nodding sadly, I hugged her back. The double doors to the dining room suddenly barged open. Remus walked in with a worried look. He looked between Evelyn and me.
“Remus?” I muttered.
“Ten, my Alpha,” Remus said.
“ What?” I asked.
“The ten the witch mentioned died today. Marcus was with them,” Remus said as shivers ran down my body. Evelyn screamed as I grabbed her in my arms. Holding her steady, I looked at Remus.
“YOU SURE?” I yelled as Evelyn cried in my arms.
“Yes, Alpha, ten of our pack members have died. They all died in the same way. Half-human, half in their wolf form,” Remus explained. Gritting my teeth, I hugged Evelyn tighter. She cried her heart out as I stared at Remus.
“Find her, did you hear me? FIND THAT DAMN WOMAN REMUS!” I yelled. Remus nodded and exited the room.
I could feel my wolf restless inside me. He was feeling the death of the rest of the pack members. Hasn’t she said in a couple of years? So why is it so sudden?
“Brother!” Evelyn cried.
“Shh Evelyn, nothing will happen to you,” I said, kissing her temple.
“But look, Marcus is gone,” Evelyn said, shaking me.
I averted my eyes. I had just lost my Gamma and a close friend to Evelyn. Picking her up, I move her to one of the chairs. Drying her tears with my hands, I grab her face and make her look at me.
“Listen, Evelyn; I won’t let anything happen to you. I will find this woman and stop her. Do you listen to what I’m saying? I will protect you,” I said, “Believe me. I won’t fail you. Not like the other Alpha Kings did.”
Evelyn’s lips trembled. Her puffy eyes looked at me.
“Did you hear me?” I asked again, looking at her sternly.
“Yes,” Evelyn mumbled nervously. I could feel she didn’t believe me. Kissing her forehead, I stand up and call one of my guards.
“Take her to her bedroom and give her some tea,” I said, squeezing her hand, “I will see you later.”
Glancing over her shoulder, I watch her go. She smiled weakly as the guard took her away.
Turning away from everyone, I walk to the window. Then, mind linking Remus, I ask him to send a scouting group.
“I don’t want them back here unless they find her. Are we clear?” I said through the mind link.
“Yes, my king,” Remus said. I punched the wall next to me.
“b***h, wait till I find you.”
